Bohmian Quantization of the Big Rip
Nelson Pinto-Neto,Diego Moraes Pantoja
Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.80.083509
Abstract: It is shown in this paper that minisuperspace quantization of homogeneous and isotropic geometries with phantom scalar fields, when examined in the light of the Bohm-de Broglie interpretation of quantum mechanics, does not eliminate, in general, the classical big rip singularity present in the classical model. For some values of the Hamilton-Jacobi separation constant present in a class of quantum state solutions of the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, the big rip can be either completely eliminated or may still constitute a future attractor for all expanding solutions. This is contrary to the conclusion presented in Ref.[1], using a different interpretation of the wave function, where the big rip singularity is completely eliminated ("smoothed out") through quantization, independently of such separation constant and for all members of the above mentioned class of solutions. This is an example of the very peculiar situation where different interpretations of the same quantum state of a system are predicting different physical facts, instead of just giving different descriptions of the same observable facts: in fact, there is nothing more observable than the fate of the whole Universe.
Laticíferos articulados anastomosados em espécies de Asclepiadeae (Asclepiadoideae, Apocynaceae) e suas implica??es ecológicas
Demarco, Diego;Castro, Marilia de Moraes;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042008000400015
Abstract: laticifers occur in all members of apocynaceae. they are described as nonarticulated branched by most authors, but articulated laticifers have been reported to some species of this family. the present study aims to describe the laticifer ontogeny, structure, distribution, and type in vegetative organs of fischeria stellata (vell.) e.fourn., gonioanthela axillaris (vell.) fontella & e.a. schwarz, matelea denticulata (vahl) fontella & e.a. schwarz, and oxypetalum banksii schult. and re-evaluate the laticifers of asclepias curassavica l. from atlantic rainforest, comparing the results with those of species from "cerrado" vegetation. the laticifers of these five species are articulated anastomosing, whose transverse or oblique walls dissolve rapidly and entirely. the laticifers branch through lateral anastomoses and form a continuous system throughout the adult plant. they are observed in primary tissues of stem and leaf, except in epidermis; they are also present in the secondary vascular tissue, except in the secondary xylem of a. curassavica. the ontogeny of these laticifers may explain the divergence between our data and those recorded for most species of the family. the results obtained revealed that the ontogeny, type, structure, and distribution of laticifers of the species of asclepiadeae from "restinga", lowland humid forests, and "cerrado" vegetation are similar. the continuity of the articulated anastomosing laticifer system ensures a greater latex flow into the injured organ, releasing the laticifer exsudate simultaneously, coagulating and sealing the wounds rapidly, besides hindering the entrance of microorganisms.
INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGIES: A CASE STUDY AT SMALL EXPORT COMPANIES
Joysinett Moraes Silva,Elaine Di Diego Antunes
Revista de Administra??o FACES Journal , 2009,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to identify the main internationalization strategies used by small manufacturers of hammocks. Our findings show that these export companies have up to 20 employees and their main internationalization strategy is exportation. This plan is carried out in 3 ways: indirect exportation, through trading companies; direct exportation, through sales performed in the companies and cooperative exportation, through a network of dealers in greater companies. Its was also verified that some organizations export up to 60% of their products while the vast majority does not even export 5% of it, turning primarily to the domestic market.
Criterios de cuantificación indemnizatoria en accidentalidad vial: una ítica judicial
Pantoja Echeverri,Marcela; Gómez ón,Diego F.; Ceballos Molano,Raquel; Trujillo Uribe,María P.;
Cuadernos de Administración (Universidad del Valle) , 2010,
Abstract: the road accident, the second cause of violent death in colombia, is a source of material and moral damages to persons. the norms of civil responsibility oblige the owner of a vehicle or driver to face civil and criminal consequences. the road accident problem and the evaluation of compensation, for material and moral damages, are of great interest due to the number of cases for homicides in traffic accidents in process in criminal courts during long periods in the cali jurisdiction. in the research made in the engeneering statistics school of valle university a collection of files was done and a survey was made to investigate the judicial policy used to calculate indemnisations in penal judgements in the cali circuit, where a big disparity in criteria of compensation is noted. moreover, there is no evidence of using a standard model for evaluating both material and moral damages; also there is no evidence of a top policy in this regard, in the observed sample. therefore, this study attempts to provide a reference framework for judges and prosecutors to assess the compensation and proposes a model in order to unify criteria for evaluating and fixing the amount of economic compensation to those affected, based on socio-economic characteristics of victims and their heirs. the resulting model proposes criteria used by insurance companies to determine the insurance premiums for life insurance, such as the age and income level of the deceased and their responsabilities to their family.
Laticíferos articulados anastomosados: novos registros para Apocynaceae
Demarco, Diego;Kinoshita, Luiza Sumiko;Castro, Marília de Moraes;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042006000100012
Abstract: laticifer presence is universal in apocynaceae, in the classic literature the type described for this family is the non-articulated. later researches have proved the occurrence of articulated laticifers only in four species, giving rise to controversies on their origin. the results obtained in our studies differ from those reported for most species of this family. in both aspidosperma australe müll. arg. (rauvolfioideae) and blepharodon bicuspidatum fourn. (asclepiadoideae), the laticifers are of the articulated anastomosing type because they are formed by adding cells with rapidly dissolving transverse walls. laticifers originate from ground meristem and/or procambium and form a branched system, they are in secretory phase since the early stages of formation in different organs, releasing latex only when the plant is damaged. the laticifer walls are exclusively pectic-cellulosic and their chemical characteristics probably change during their development. vegetative organ laticifers occur in all stem and leaf tissues, except epidermis and medullary parenchyma of a. australe. in the flower, laticifers are found in all floral organs, except in the medullary parenchyma of the pedicel of a. australe and in the ovules of both species. the presence of the same type of laticifer in these two genera, which represent the most divergent subfamilies within the apocynaceae corroborates the current circumscription of this family. the latex has protective function, allowing the species of this family to succeed in different environments.

This article analyzes the Uruguayan political juncture during 2010-2011. To that end, the paper is divided in five sections. Abstract: Most microbial reactions are in one way or another associated to decomposition of organic matter, and occurs under two general conditions: in the presence and in the absence of oxygen. Here, we will examine current information on the biogeochemical reactions in the area of the oxygen minimum zone off Chile. The aim of this presentation is to examine mechanisms of processing of organic matter under upwelling and O2 depletion.

The scenario changes, but the scene stays the same...: considerations on the 2004 electoral process for mayor in Campos dos Goytacazes This essay results from the research being developed at UCAM Campos with financial support from FAPERJ. It has two objectives. First, to analyze the mechanisms and political formulas that led to the annulment of the 2004 election’s result adopted by the two major political groups originated in the same political machine organized and strongly controlled by Anthony Garotinho for two decades. The other goal is to examine the conditions that allow us to predict the continuity of the scenario, the forms of domination and policy making which have characterized local politics since the creation of that political class.
