Revista Colombiana de Estadística , 2006,
Abstract: we propose a methodology to estimate missing information in mixed cell means models. this methodology improves on that melo & melo (2005), which is based on the methods of maximum likelihood estimation and covariate proposed by bartlett (1937), and reduces the correlation between the observed and estimated information. once the imputation of the missing information is done, we suggest a way to perform the analysis of variance in models without interaction, by generating a weighted test for the fixed and random effects involved in the model.

Abstract: this paper aims to present the construction and development of a cognitive task located in the problematic area of language understanding, which is an alternative methodology to capture the self-regulatory process during the reading of a narrative text. from the functional perspective, the task leads to the detection and correction of errors semantic, syntactic and pragmatic on the part of whoever is running. the psychometric task with great fortitude (cronbach's alpha .820) entered in the paradigm of contradiction arose from the interest in building tools valid and reliable measurement also constitute alternative methodologies for the development of cognitive skills and metacognitive skills crucial in understanding narrative texts.
Community Psychiatry in the Team of Brandoa - Services Provided in December 2008
Alexandre Mendes,Alexandra Morais,Diana Melo,Raquel Bandeira
PsiLogos , 2012,
Abstract: The Psychiatric Department of the Hospital Fernando Fonseca (HFF) was the first service in Portugal based on the general hospital to develop an integrated model of mental health care in the community, oriented towards the needs of the population and supported by multidisciplinary teams. This model is based on continuity of care by the same team, assertive follow-up of patients in the community, in conjunction with primary health care and a wide range of interventions. The activity of the Service occurs at both hospital and community levels, maintaining a close articulation between the different units that constitute it, to ensure the necessary continuity of care. The Community Teams of Amadora, Brandoa, Damaia and Queluz constitute the Functional Community Intervention Unit and are based in the Health Centers of the area where they operate. This work aims to characterize the active population followed by the Brandoa Community Team in December 2008, at socio-demographic and clinical levels and from the data obtained to do a brief reflection in order to question the activities undertaken and to improve care practices in the future.

An interview with Diana from Libya
Diana
International Journal of Inclusive Democracy , 2011,
Abstract: IJID Note:The interviewer will be referred below as JR and the interviewee as DL. Both the interviewer as well as the interviewee preferred not to reveal publicly their names for security reasons.JR’s Notes:In the 1980s, when Gaddafi’s policies veered to the left and nationalization of the economy became widespread, Diana father’s business was severely affected. So her own background is not what one might expect of someone who now is speaking up passionately against the NATO assault on Libya…Unfortunately, most mainstream western journalists seem interested only in hearing from anti-Gaddafi Libyans. So it is the fact that westerners continue to get a one-sided picture of Libya which helps support the case for NATO bombing. Here’s another side to the story…

Perspectivas en Nutrición Humana , 2011,
Abstract: objective: agronomic and sensory evaluation of nutritionally enhanced beans and a traditional bean was completed to determine the genotype most likely to be adopted. materials and methods: the study was completed in cesar (colombia), and comprised three phases: 1) evaluation of the acceptance of 35 biofortified bean seeds by 331 bean producers and consumers, 2) agronomic and nutritional evaluation of the eight highest rated beans, and 3) sensorial evaluation by 273 persons in comparison with a regional bean. the four genotypes with the best agronomic and nutritional results were evaluated with acceptability tests, and for the best rated, preference tests and triangular discrimination were also applied. results: the most accepted seeds were two each of the following colors: black, cream, red and pink striped. the four best beans with respect to yield, food safety, and iron and zinc contents included a genotype of each color. compared with a local bean, the four had the same acceptability scores for smell, color and taste (p> 0.05), and different scores for texture and consistency (p <0.05), favoring the biofortified beans, and the black line in particular. with the black bean and a local bean, a recipe was prepared. evaluators discriminated between the two beans and there were differences in the acceptability of certain sensory characteristics in favor of the biofortified line. conclusions: biofortified bean genotypes showed better yield, food safety, and iron and zinc content than the local bean. the four best presented some sensorial differences compared to the control, in favor of the biofortified bean, and specifically the black genotype.

Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2003000100024
Abstract: this study analyzes trends in the migration of childbirth from rural areas of sergipe state, brazil, to the capital city, aracaju, from 1970 to 1996. data on "mother's place of residence" were obtained from mothers whose children were born in maternity hospitals in aracaju in 1970, 1976, 1986, and 1996. significant differences occurred in the proportion of mothers who resided outside of aracaju but came there to give birth, especially from 1976 to 1986. this shift was stimulated by improvement of state highways and the granting of personal political favors in exchange for votes. changes in the state hospital structure did not appear to have influenced the childbirth shift to aracaju. there was a 134.6% increase in deliveries occurring in the state capital. there were also different trends among the various regions of the state, with some regional health districts displaying a downward trend in the number of deliveries from 1986 to 1996. it is urgent that more regional and hierarchical support be provided for childbirth and neonatal care in order to ensure quality assistance for pregnant women and their infants.

Revista Gest?o & Saúde , 2013,
Abstract: Adverse events for drugs (AED) is a public health problem worldwide, many are due to undesirable drug interactions and preventable nature. This descriptive study aimed to characterize the profile pharmacotherapy and to identify drug interactions (DIs). It was analyzed 110 prescriptions of the patients with age of one to 12 years, in a teaching hospital of Brasilia, Federal District, from October 2005 to February 2006. It found the record of 292 medicines, mainly from the class of the nervous system (37.7%), prevailing prescriptions with up to five drugs (67.3%). It found prescription drugs unapproved and unauthorized for pediatric use. We identified six potential DIs and degree of moderate severity (66.7%). The time of drug administration follows a pattern at 6 am, 12 am, 18 pm and 22 pm, disregarding possible DIs. Knowing the profile pharmacotherapy involving the pediatric patient is extremely important for the prevention of avoidable AAM, such as unwanted DIs.

OBJECTIVE: To identify dietary patterns among adolescents and to assess their association with socioeconomic and lifestyle characteristics and nutritional status. METHODS: A probabilistic clustered two-stage sample of students between 14 and 19 years old from public and private high schools from Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Brazil, was investigated (n = 1.139). A self-administered food frequency questionnaire was used to obtain information on food intake. Nutritional status was classified according to the Body Mass Index (BMI = weight/height2) z-score. Socioeconomic status was inferred by the education level of head of household and by the presence of electrical appliances in the household. Dietary patterns were identified by applying exploratory factor analysis (extraction method: principal component analysis) and their relationship with socioeconomic conditi
