Report of a workshop on Women's Health Policy held in the third Critical Paths Seminar: extreme situations resulting from gender violence. The participants were ten women, three health students, four health professionals (nursing technician, psychologist, nurse and social worker), an educator and a lawyer. The methodology used was a debate about Women Public Policy and listening of music: Mariana went to the sea. By the end of the debate, we concluded that to understand and cope with the health needs of women who suffer violence is necessary to review not only the women health policy, but also health education and the work processes within the public safety sector. Corrosion behavior of Ti and TI6Al4V in citrate buffers containing fluoride ions
Schmidt, Anelise Marlene;Azambuja, Denise Schermann;
Materials Research , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392010000100011
Abstract: the effect of fluoride ions concentration on the electrochemical behavior of ti grade 2 and ti6al4v in citrate buffers was studied. open circuit potential (ocp) measurements and voltammetric studies of the samples in the fluoride containing citrate buffers revealed a dissolution process when the ph falls below 5.0 and the naf content is higher than 0.01 m. however, in citrate ph 7.6 the materials showed a passive behavior even in 0.1 m naf. some micrographs of ti grade 2 obtained after longer immersion times in citrate ph 5.0 with 0.01 m naf showed a surface attack. eis (electrochemical impedance sprectroscopy) data obtained at the ocp revealed that the film resistance decreases when the immersion time is increased in ph 5.0 containing 0.1 m naf. in the citrate ph 7.6 the eis data indicated a two-layer model of an oxide film consisting of a more compact inner layer and a porous outer layer. on the other hand, the eis results in citrate ph 4.0 change significantly when the fluoride ions concentration increases from 0.01 to 0.05 m. the electrochemical data revealed that the corrosion behavior of ti grade 2 and ti6al4v in the citrate buffers depends on the ph, the fluoride content and the exposure time.
Electrochemical behavior of Ti and Ti6Al4V in aqueous solutions of citric acid containing halides
Schmidt, Anelise Marlene;Azambuja, Denise Schermann;
Materials Research , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392006000400008
Abstract: this paper reports on an investigation of the electrochemical behavior of ti grade 2 and ti6al4v alloy in aqueous citric acid solutions with ph 2.0 containing halide ions. voltammetric studies of ti and the alloy in citric acid, with and without chloride ions, indicate that the ti and ti alloy presented a passive behavior in the test solutions used. pitting was observed at 3.0 and 2.5 v/sce for ti and ti6al4v, respectively, when bromide ions were added to the solution. in solutions containing fluoride ions, dissolution of the film occurred at potentials close to - 1.0 v/sce in both electrodes. the iodide ions oxidized on the passive oxide film at potentials close to 1.0 v/sce. eis results of the materials in citric acid solutions containing chloride ions revealed that the film's resistance increased as the applied potential rose from 0 to 1.0 v. in bromide-containing solutions, breakdown of the film was confirmed at potentials above 2.0 v/sce in both electrodes. these results suggest film reformation for ti and the alloy in solutions containing fluoride at potentials within the passive region.
Effect of fluoride ions on Ti6Al4V alloy passivation in lactated Ringer's serum
Schmidt, Anelise M.;Azambuja, Denise S.;
Materials Research , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392003000200018
Abstract: the corrosive behavior of ti and its alloys in fluoride media is well known. based on electrochemical studies, this paper describes the effect of fluoride ions on the passive behavior of ti6al4v alloy in lactated ringer's serum. the open circuit potential of the alloy in the serum, which lies in the passive region of tio2, shifts to more negative values as fluoride ions are added. the voltammogram obtained in the serum presents an active-passive behavior close to -0.2 v (sce) that changes with the presence of fluoride ions, evidencing higher anodic currents. electrochemical impedance spectroscopy plots obtained at ocp after varying immersion times in the serum display an almost capacitive behavior and the polarization resistance becomes enhanced after 7 days. with the addition of fluoride ions, the film's resistance decreases, but a stable protective layer develops after 7 days of immersion time, indicating the film's repair.

Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50532002000400010
Abstract: the electrodeposition of cd2+ ion was investigated in ph 4.8 sulfuric-sulfate solutions in the presence of dissolved o2. in potentiostatic conditions, using reticulated vitreous carbon (rvc) electrodes of 30, 60 and 100 pores per inch (ppi), high removal efficiency values were achieved in the potential range from ?0.90 to ?1.10 v for solutions containing 5 and 10 mg l-1 of cd2+ ion. in this potential range, cd electrodeposition is a mass transport controlled reaction and the concentration of the metallic ion decays exponentially with time following a pseudo-first order kinetics. for the 30 ppi rvc, the current efficiency and removal efficiency values found were, respectively, 45 % and 96 % for a solution containing 10 mg l-1 of cd2+ ion after 30 minutes electrolysis at ?0.90 v while 33 % and 99% were found for the 60 ppi rvc. the concentration decay of cd2+ ion in the solution was monitored after each experiment by anodic stripping voltammetry at a hanging mercury drop electrode.
