Advances in Journalism and Communication (AJC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ajc.2015.34010
Abstract: Human trafficking is one of today’s largest shadow economies. This theme was included in plot of Salve Jorge, a soap opera in Brazil (broadcasted by Globo Network between October 2012 and May 2013). This article analyzes the social merchandising, an approach given to international human trafficking in entertainment venues of television, especially, from the telenovela Salve Jorge. The strategy of inclusion of social issues in the plots is recognized as social merchandising. So, it is in this privileged media space that the story of a social problem is also constituted. The study focuses on the discussion of the power of the telenovela to dramatize issues of public interest, having main broadcasting and audience of Salve Jorge. One seeks to question the maintenance and the impact of the subject of human trafficking as a dialogue between fiction and reality portrayed by Brazilian television. The show, Salve Jorge, is based on the real-life story of a Brazilian woman who was led to Israel and forced into prostitution. Therefore, human trafficking emerges as the central theme of this study over the main plot of Salve Jorge.
“Why Caipirinha?”- The Online via Chat Laddering Technique CAN Answer

BAR. Brazilian Administration Review , 2011,
Abstract: As customers are becoming increasingly connected to the internet, this means that they are available for online interviews, thus opening up a space for investigating research methods, especially qualitative research, in an attempt to identify how to adapt data collecting instruments to the so-called “connected customer era”. In this context, the focus of this article is on the application viability analysis of the laddering technique used online and in real-time chat by asking the following question: “Why caipirinha?”. Conducting online in-depth interviews through the MSN Messenger and Skype (the most commonly used chat tools in Brazil), 23 attributes, 22 consequences and 13 values were identified, resulting in 133 ladders, 71 of which reached the value level. Along with friends/mates, Integration, Entertainment and Fun, in addition to Alcohol, Insouciance/ relaxation and Pleasure constitute the most frequent ladders. Concerning the application itself, the participants gave positive feedback, even though some of them did not feel satisfied because they became tired. Convenience, objectivity, disinhibition, easy scheduling and flexibility were identified. The viability of online in-depth interviewing via real-time chats was confirmed, raising the question of the possibility of it achieving other qualitative research techniques.

Abstract: introduction: focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (fsgs) is the most frequent primary glomerulopathy in brazil and its incidence is increasing worldwide. pathogenesis is related to podocyte injury, which may be due to several factors including viruses, drugs, genetics and immunological factors. in 2004, the columbia classification of fsgs identified five histological variants of the disease: collapsing (col), usual (nos), tip lesion (tip), perihilar (phi) and cellular variant (cel). the objective of this study was to classify the fsgs biopsies in these morphological variants. methods: one hundred thirty-one cases of renal biopsies with primary fsgs diagnosis, which had been performed at a brazilian reference center from 1996 to 2006, were classified according to the columbia criteria. results: fsgs cases were distributed as follows: 38.2% nos variant, 36.6% col, 14.5% tip, 6.9% phi and 3.8% cel. conclusion: col variant of fsgs seems to be more prevalent in brazil in comparison with other centers worldwide, which may be related to environmental and socioeconomic factors.
Placental tissues as sources of stem cells—Review  [PDF]

Abstract: Recently the fetal membranes are regarded to be abundant, ethically acceptable and easily accessible sources of mesenchymal stem cells, which cause only minor immunogenic troubles. In addition, these membranes have been studied as an alternative to adult and embryonic stem cells. The chorion develops firstly as a layer of simple avascular epithelium (trophoblast). The amnion, as the chorion is also an avascular membrane. It is derived from the ectoderm, and forms a very thin membrane which surrounded the embryo in development. The hypoblast and exocoelomic membrane together originates the yolk sac which late will give rise to the allantois. The study of the origin and development of these tissues is of vital importance for obtaining stem cells. Different cell lineages can be obtained from the fetal placental tissues: the hematopoietic lineage is found in the chorion, allantois and, yolk sac, and the mesenchymal lineage is found in the chorion and amnion. The properties and potential for differentiation of fetal stem cells isolated from placental tissues must be characterized in order for them to be used in the treatment of several diseases. The chorion, yolk sac, allantois, and amnion contain heterogeneous cell populations. However, few studies have focused on characterizing these alternative stem cells sources. The amnion has a significant advantage over the other fetal membranes, mainly due to its easily accessibility for collection in humans and rodents and also because it contains populations of pluripotent and multipotent cells. In some other species (dogs, ruminants, horses, cats, and swine) the allantoic fluid is more easily accessible, but there is little information regarding the characterization of the cell population. This review will address advances in the isolation of stem cells from fetal placental tissues and describe their characterization and possible use in cell therapy, as well as their origin and development.
Sulfonated Polyaniline Coated Mercury Film Electrodes for Voltammetric Analysis of Metals in Water
Denise Alves Fungaro
Sensors , 2001, DOI: 10.3390/s10600206
Abstract: The electrochemical polymerization of 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid with and without aniline has been carried by cyclic potencial sweep in sulfuric acid solution at the glassy carbon electrode. The polymer and copolymer formed have been characterized voltammetrically. The sulfonated polyaniline coated mercury thin-film electrodes have been evaluated for use with anodic stripping voltammetry. The electrodes were tested and compared with a conventional thin-film mercury electrode. Calibration plots showed linearity up to 10-7 mol L-1. Detection limits for zinc, lead and cadmium test species are very similar at around 12 nmol L-1. Applications to analysis of waters samples are demonstrated.

Abstract: current organizational dynamic is marked by excessive competition and the establishment of standard of conducts, which can be observed everywhere in the world, and that bring strong consequences to developing countries, intensifying the mechanisms of social exclusion, of intolerance to individual differences and making it hard to keep and promote health in the working environment. concerning work and the worker's expectations, there is an intensification of the social exclusion at work and by work, as the employees become part of a category "strangers" or "foreigners" as of the classification "unemployed" or "disqualified", or even "not adjusted". the present article aims at bringing some reflections on the process of social exclusion at and by work, considering its relation with the technological development process. discussions will be conducted as theoretical essays from texts by benjamin and simmel, who deal with the "foreigner" and with the ideas developed by mumford and marcuse about the technological development. additionally we tried to establish an analysis on how psychologists working in organizations can be seen in a productive system: developing ways of social control or promoting health in the working environment, keeping themselves away from the practice of excessive standardization and leveling of behavior.
