Configuración de territorios de violencia y control policial: corporalidades, emociones y relaciones sociales
Daich,Deborah; Pita,María Victoria; Sirimarco,Mariana;
Cuadernos de antropolog?-a social , 2007,
Abstract: this work is centered in the analysis of the processes of configuration of violent territories and police control as resultants of the network of social relations and practices that bind police groups with subjects and groups, regularly defined and typified by the same police agency as objects of their control and administration. it is focused, in that sense, in the analysis of the corporalities and emotions qua constructors of bodies, identities and social relations. this, because we understand sociability networks that reciprocally tie individuals by means of interdependences of diverse class, as those that outline the field of the everyday life on which the effective forms of control and violence are constructed and produced.

Revista Mundos do Trabalho , 2009, DOI: 10.5007/1984-9222.2009v1n2p41
Rainbows, Time Zones, and Other Mind-Dependent Objects: Making Sense of the Relevant Notions of “Mind-Dependence” in the Debate between Metaphysical Realists and Antirealists  [PDF]
Deborah C. Smith
Open Journal of Philosophy (OJPP) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojpp.2012.21006
Abstract: In a recent article, Sam Page distinguishes four kinds of mind-(in)dependence: ontological, causal, structural, and individuative. He argues that, despite the fact that the metaphysical realism/antirealism debate has been frequently characterized as a debate between those who accept and those who deny that the world is causally and/or structurally dependent on minds, many antirealists are primarily interested in defending the claim that the world is individuatively mind-dependent. In this article, I critically examine these differing senses of “mind-dependence” highlighting ways in which they remain ambiguous and identifying various entailment relations between them. I argue that there is reason to believe that ontological dependence, structural dependence, and the only sort of individuative dependence that is relevant to the metaphysical debate are coextensive notions. As such, any argument that succeeds in establishing that it is incoherent to suppose that everything is ontologically and/or structurally dependent thereby establishes the incoherence of metaphysical antirealism.
Lottenberg, Ana Maria Pita;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Endocrinologia & Metabologia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27302008000200012
Abstract: the importance of nutrition therapy in treating diabetes mellitus has been emphasized since it was first identified, being the only effective intervention then. in type 1 diabetes, its importance is even more pronounced due to its association with the use of exogenous insulin. appropriate caloric ingestion in order to attain normal body weight maintains anabolism, warranting growth and development and decreases insulin resistance. the correct use of micronutrients and macronutrients is vitally important. the knowledge of carbohydrate metabolism and its association with glycemic elevation, in qualitative and quantitative aspects, is emphasized since it enables good control, especially during the postprandial period. the correct use of proteins to prevent or treat nephropathies and lipids or to avoid dyslipidemia, obesity, and cardiovascular disease are also addressed. sucrose and artificial sweeteners should be used with care. compliance with treatment, however, is the key to reach the desired goals.
Lottenberg, Ana Maria Pita;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Endocrinologia & Metabologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27302009000500012
Abstract: the world health organization (who) has recently reinforced the fact that inadequate diets, along with physical inactivity, are among the ten main determinant factors of mortality. several randomized trials demonstrated that dietary interventions may lower or even prevent the occurrence of several non-communicable diseases. in this context, the role of diet has been exhaustively evaluated in several clinical and epidemiological studies. thus, it is well established in literature that the amount and type of dietary fat have a direct influence on cardiovascular risk factors, such as lipids and plasma lipoprotein concentration, as well as their association with inflammatory processes. fatty acids also participate in complex intracellular signaling systems, a function which has been currently investigated. dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (pufa) act not only by altering membrane lipid composition, cellular metabolism and signal transduction, but also modulating gene expression by regulating the activity and/or production of different nuclear transcription factors. the aim of this article is to review important topics regarding the lipids metabolism and correlate them with nutritional therapies that may contribute to the prevention and treatment of related diseases.
López Pita,Paulina;
Cuadernos de historia de Espa?±a , 2007,
Abstract: this study analyses the complex relationship between pedro girón, heir of the count of urue?a, and the monarchy, particularly king carlos i. their origin dates back to the year 1513, when the dukedom of medina sidonia became vacant after the duke's death without having a direct successor. since then and up to 1520, pedro girón repeatedly tried to exert his right over the dukedom. he submitted continuous official requests to those ruling the hispanic kingdoms with the aim of getting the dukedom back. unable to achieve his goal by diplomatic means, pedro girón joined the 'comunero' movement, hoping to obtain by force what he believed was his fair right. however, he finally realized that in such way he would not succeed in his aim, and so decided to serve the monarch and get, hence, his pardon. drawing from existing documentation on the mentioned requests and other correspondence maintained, this paper offers a thorough analysis of pedro girón's actions vis-à-vis the monarch.

Suárez Pita,Maritza;
Revista Cubana de Higiene y Epidemiolog?-a , 2002,
Abstract: the health quality of the environmental resources is controlled by the enumeration of bacteria or groups of bacteria indicators of faecal contamination. the streptoccocus faecalis group is one of them. as a result of the changes in the taxonomy of the genus streptococcus and the appearance of new species within the genus enterococcus, this pollution indicator has been approached in a different way and the term "intestinal enterecoccus and streptococcus" has been proposed at present to refer to the bacteria of faecal origin of these 2 genuses used as indicators.
Recovery of GPP monthly pattern in a eucalypt site in Portugal after felling
A. Rodrigues,G. Pita
Biogeosciences Discussions , 2011, DOI: 10.5194/bgd-8-3999-2011
Abstract: The main objective of this work was to report the recovery of seasonal pattern of GPP obtained by eddy covariance measurements in a eucalypt (Eucalyptus globulus Labill.) site in Peg es (Southern Portugal) after a felling processed in October and November of 2006. This was made in a wider context of a general description of the evolution of carbon sequestration at several timescales in the period 2002–2010. In Portugal eucalypt stands aimed mainly for pulp production occupies an area of about 739 515 ha, (National Forest Inv 2005–2006) corresponding to about 23% of total forest area. The site is part of a 300 ha eucalypt stand, located in Herdade da Espirra, intensively managed as coppice under a twelve year productive cycle with a density of about 1100 trees/ha and characterized by a 12-month growing period. A prolonged drought in 2004 and 2005 and a felling in October–November 2006, followed by the start of a new production cycle, changed the carbon sink ability of eucalypt stand. In the two drought years, rainfall was reduced to values of 50%, relatively to long-term 709 mm average of. In the period prior to cutting NEE of 8.7 g cm 2 was maximum in 2002 decreasing to a minimum of 3.6 tons/ha in 2005 at the peak of the effect of drought. After the felling the eucalypt stand recovered its carbon sink capacity in June 2007 with an annual GPP of 1621.6 g cm 2 in 2010. Seasonal patterns of GPP in 2007, 2008 and 2009 were almost opposite to that of the period before the felling, with a tendency to recover to the situation prior the felling in 2010.
