Abstract: A spectrophotometric method for determining cyanogenic glucosides (CGs) was validated in accordance with IUPAC and ICH requirements for new methods. The method demonstrates good linearity in the range of 0.1-0.88 μgg-1 hydrocyanic acid (HCN). The accuracy of the method ranges between 95.2% and 96.4%. The precision of the method, reflected as the relative standard deviation of the replicates, is lower than 12%. The method was compared with the most used method to detect CGs in cassava roots, the one established by Essers et al. Both methods were applied to quantify CGs in commercial cassava products. The new method is a useful and reliable tool for monitoring levels of CGs in cassava commercial products.

Abstract: hepatic trauma is more frequently found in multitrauma individuals with hemodynamics disorders and abdominal contusions. it is present in 80% of penetrating injures and 20% of closed trauma. approximately 3% of these patients are seen at emergency room services when they are in serious hypovolemic shock. hepatic trauma mortality rate has substantially lowered, which shows not only the advances in pre-hospital medical care but also the learning of new abilities and surgical techniques by surgeons. damage control surgery is a surgical choice that is being used at present to manage the severely traumatized patient. we presented an updated literature review, making emphasis on attitudes and surgical procedures in the management of severe hepatic trauma and giving a specific description of hepatic packing. the sucess of this treatment is linked to a quick and prompt decision by trauma surgeon to perform this procedure

Corresponden a lesiones penetrantes 80 % y 20 %, a trauma cerrado. Abstract: foliar extracts (fes) are an alternative to address food and nutrition insecurity. fes and leaves of cassava, bean, sweet potato and alfalfa were evaluated for nutrient and antinutrient composition and in vitro nutrient bioavailability. bean fe had a high average ± (sd) iron concentration (1006 ± 8.49 mg/kg), as did cassava fe for zinc (110.1 ± 6.72 mg/kg) and soluble protein (34.23 ± 3.81 g/kg) concentration. for the cassava, bean and alfalfa fes in vitro protein digestibility was greater than 71.18%; in vitro iron dialyzability was less than 2.29%; the phytate:zinc molar ratio was less than 0.08, and the in vitro all-trans-β-carotene bioavailability was greater than 23.85%. these values suggest a high protein, zinc and all-trans- β -carotene bioavailability and a low iron bioavailability. fes can be a nutritious alternative for those countries with low dietary diversity.

Abstract: abstract: virtual education has become an alternative for students to access the higher education system. in colombia, there has been an increase in the number of undergraduate programs in this form of education. however, information about the pedagogical work undertaken in those programs is scarce, and it is needed to examine their quality. this research project examined the education community's perception of undergraduate virtual education programs in colombian higher education institutions. one of the key elements in the analysis was the development of students' information literacy to find out about possible ruptures, transformations, advantages, problems and solutions that emerge from this form of education. the study used a quantitative and qualitative approach to gather information from teachers, coordinators, tutors and students from 9 higher education institutions. results show that efforts to improve students' information literacy have been undertaken; however a greater collective effort is needed to improve the search for, evaluation and ethical use of information. implicit here is the need for expert training and the need to reflect upon strategies to combat plagiarism.

Pyloric exclusion is a therapeutic alternative for these lesions. We report a 22 years old male with a blunt abdominal trauma and a 23 years old male with a gunshot abdominal wound.
Cortés,Darwin; Pérez,Jorge Eduardo;
Desarrollo y Sociedad , 2010,
Abstract: using household data from the 2006-2007 households income and expenditure survey, we estimate four different specifications of demand systems for colombia, namely, the linear expenditure system (les), the extended linear expenditure system (eles), the almost ideal demand system (aids) and the quadratic almost ideal demand system (qaids). we also calculate expenditure, income and price elasticities for different groups of goods. we find that the expenditure elasticity of food has remained stable over time, between 0.71 and 0.77 over all urban households. in contrast, comparing households across quintiles of income, that elasticity varies between 0.58 and 0.85. this finding has to be taken into account in the design of public policy. health, education and transport are no longer luxury goods but either unitary-expenditure-elasticity goods or necessity goods, depending on the system used to estimate the elasticities. the reduction on the expenditure elasticities of these goods reflects the policies implemented in colombia in the last decades.

Media of Health Research and Development , 2012,
Abstract: An Ae. aegypti mosquitoes labelling with Radioisotop 32P was performed at various dose application. The research conducted by Insitute of Vector and Reservoir Control Research and Development, Salatiga in collaboration with The National of Atomic Agency that aimed to know the effective dose and radioactivity disposal of the Radioisotop 32 P. The research used several doses: 0,3 μCi (micro currie); 0,5 μCi; and 0,7 μCi of each 25 gr larvaefood for 50 larvae with dry and wet radiation then observed the effect of radiation against larvae stadium and mosquitoes. The result shows that at 0,5 pCi isotop 32P dose application, Ae. aegypti mosquitoe can survive with 333,3 cps (currie per second) residual radioactivity and detected in 75 cm distance. The Radioisotop 32P can be used as Ae. aegypti mosquitoes labelling/marking.
