Los hallazgos sediscuten en relación a aspectos estructurales del pensamiento.ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study was to determine and describe the social representations of Chilean university students aboutpoverty, its causes and solutions. We used the technique of semantic network (Valdez, 1998), we applied the instrument to121 students from the Faculties of Education and Humanities and Medicine of the University of La Frontera. The analyseswere carried out based on values of the semantics network. The results indicate common contents in the social representationsof both groups, probably nuanced by academic formation; we observed differences among students groups related to theimportance that they assigned to historic and social factors. We discussed the results about structural aspects thoughts.

Abstract: The number of university students who present an early indebtedness has increased in the last years, which represents a potential risk for his financial stability. This study examined validity factorial of the Scale of Attitudes toward the Indebtedness (Denegri et al., 1999) and determines the existence of profile attitudinal typology towards the indebtedness in a sample of 984 university Chilean students with ages between 18 and 25 years. The results indicate the presence of two independent factors named Hedonism and Aus- terity, from which four profiles of attitudes decided towards the indebtedness named: austere, diffuse, hedonistic and ambivalent those who might be to the base of his behaviors of acceptance or rejection of the indebtedness.

Revista chilena de neuro-psiquiatría , 2003, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-92272003000100002
Abstract: we describe a patient with cadasil (cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy), the first of four patients diagnosed in our service since 1998, correlating clinical, imaging, and muscular pathology (on electronic microscopy) data. the patient is a woman with no risk factors for cerebrovascular pathology who suffered two transient ischemic attacks at the age of 29. seven years later, she developed symptoms of depression manifested as psychomotor withdrawal and progressive parkinsonism that did not respond to pharmacological treatment. an mri brain scan showed extensive bilateral alterations in the white matter in the frontal and occipital regions, hyperintense in t2 and hypointense in t1-weighted images, without gadolinium enhancement. they had no mass effect, were associated with leukoaraiosis, and were compatible with the diagnosis of cadasil. muscle biopsy showed an arteriopathy with cadasil-type osmiophilic granular deposits in the blood vessels. no history of symptomatic dementia or cerebrovascular disorders were found among the patient?s mother, father, aunts, uncles, or grandparents. this is most likely a sporadic case. no genetic studies or biopsies were done in asymptomatic relatives

Revista de otorrinolaringología y cirugía de cabeza y cuello , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-48162010000100003
Abstract: introduction: juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma is a vascular tumor that occurs almost exclusively in the nasopharynx of adolescent males. its management is complex because of its vascular nature and frequent recurrence. aim: to review the experience of 12 years in juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. material and method: retrospective study of patients admitted with diagnosis of juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma at the otorhinolaryngology department, university of chile clinical hospital, between 1996 and 2008, characterizing the study group in terms of clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, complications and recurrences. results: we obtained 22 patients, all male, with an average age of 17.7 years. the most common presenting symptom was recurrent epitasis, present in up to 81.8% of cases. all patients were studied with computed tomography and received preoperative arterial embolization. most tumors were type iib and c (68.1%) and the endoscopic surgical technique was predominant. there was only one major complication, but derived from the embolization procedure and not the surgery itself. there was a 22.7%> recurrence, with disease-free time of 8.2 months on average. discussion and conclusion: our results agree with most of the series published in the literature. the therapeutic decision is based on the determination of tumor size and extension, preferring an initial endoscopic approach, for its minimally invasive nature and because they present less bleeding, surgical time and hospital stay if the tumor stage allows. arterial embolization, regardless of the surgical approach, should be routine.

Endometriosis is the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity(1-3). This endometrial tissue may be located in the ovaries as endometriomas and/or as extraperitoneal(3,4)./subperitoneal implants When implant depth is greater than 5 mm, condition is referred to as deep endometriosis(3,4). It represents a common cause of pelvic pain and infertility in young women(1-3). Surgery remains the best treatment option, so pre-operative evaluation to assess the extent of disease is essential(3,4). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive, non-ionizing radiation method, offering high contrast resolution, which allows multiplanar evaluation of endometriosis, thus facilitating a correct diagnosis and appropriate treatment(2-4). Radiologists have to be familiar with MR imaging appearance of endometriosis, in order to guide clinicians and provide adequate information to assure accurate diagnosis and timely treatment of this entity.

Abstract: Background: Plasmapheresis can be useful in myasthenia gravis, Guillain Barré syndrome and chronic demyelinating inflamatory polyradiculoneuritis. Aim: To report our experience with plasmapheresis in patients with neurological diseases. Material and methods: Retrospective review of plasmapheresis procedures done between 1995 and 2001, in a public hospital. Indications criteria, clinical results and technical yield were analyzed. Results: One hundred fifty nine procedures were reviewed. One hundred forty (88%) were indicated for neurological diseases (44% for Guillain Barré syndrome and 29% for myasthenia gravis). Clinical improvement or eventual complications were avoided in 70% of patients with Guillain Barré syndrome and 100% of patients with myasthenia gravis. Hypotension in 10% and paresthesias in 7% were observed. All complications were successfully controlled with crystalloid or fresh plasma infusions or citrate management. In 11 cases, the procedure was interrupted due to obstruction of the venous access, that was peripheral in eight of these. The most common difficulties of the procedure were delay in performing it in 50% of patients and insufficient exchange volumes in 30%. Conclusions: Plasmapheresis was safe and useful in patients with myasthenia gravis and Guillain Barré syndrome. The drawbacks of the procedure are its costs and requirement of special equipment (Rev Méd Chile 2004; 132: 295-8).

Revista MVZ Córdoba , 2012,
Abstract: Objetivo.
Remarks on Gauge-Invariant Variables and Interaction Energy in QED
Patricio Gaete
Physics , 1998, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.59.127702
Abstract: The calculation of the interaction energy in pure QED and Maxwell-Chern-Simons gauge theory is re-examined by exploiting the path dependence of the gauge-invariant variables formalism. In particular, we consider a spacelike straight line which leads to the Poincar\'{e} gauge. Subtleties related to the problem of exhibiting explicitly the interaction energies are illustrated.
Some remarks about gauge-invariant Yang-Mills fields
Patricio Gaete
Physics , 2000,
Abstract: In order to eliminate gauge variant degrees of freedom we study the way to introduce gauge invariant fields in pure non-Abelian Yang-Mills theory. Our approach is based on the use of the gauge-invariant but path-dependent variables formalism. It is shown that for a special class of paths these fields coincide with the usual ones in some definite gauges. The interquark potential is discussed by exploiting the rich structure of the gluonic cloud or dressing around static fermions.
