Cold-State Investigation on a Flame Holder  [PDF]

Slitty bluff body is widely used as a high-performance flame holder in power industry. To understand the flame stability mechanism, the evolution of the near wake over a slitty bluff body in cold state was numerically investigated using the renormalization group (RNG) k-ε model at Reynolds number of 470,000. The coherent structure of the near wake was identified by the vortex shedding simulation. To explain the vortex shedding, a mechanism that single vortex of large size suddenly immerses two shear layers was proposed. To quantitatively compare the near wakes at different gap ratio, a vortex shedding character dimension was first proposed. This character dimension has positive correlation with flame stability. Particle-image velocimetry (PIV) measurements in a close wind tunnel were also carried out to confirm the observation from the numerical study. The evidence shows that the numerical results are of good agreement with the cold-state experiments.

Mixed monotone operator is an important nonlinear operator. It exists extensively in the research of nonlinear differential and integral equations. Generally, the research of mixed monotone operators in partially ordered Banach spaces requires compactness, continuity or concavity-convexity of the operators. In this paper, without any compact and continuous assumption, we obtain some new existence and uniqueness theorems of positive fixed point of e-concave-convex mixed monotone operators in Banach spaces partially ordered by a cone, which extends the existing corresponding results.

Abstract: Public projects play an active role in the development of economy. However, public project management performance (PPMP) is not very satisfying and urgent to be improved, especially in China which is in its flourishing period of public project investment and construction nowadays. The purpose of this paper is to propose and theoretically test a fundamental thinking for the government to improve PPMP. In this study, project management (PM) and project governance (PG) are identified to be the controllable factors which affect PPMP greatly through a thorough literature review. In order to bring PG, PM and PPMP into a whole system, SCP paradigm is applied properly to the agency industry of public project and, as a result, GMP framework for the analysis of public project is presented through exhaustive ratiocination. Subsequently, GMP framework is broken down into three parts and each part is testified theoretically to ensure the reliability of GMP framework. The findings indicate that there are two approaches to improve PPMP, i.e. PG and PM, and PG seems to be more effective in China due to its vast development space.

Abstract: The existing scheduling algorithms cannot adequately support modern embedded real-time applications. An important challenge for future research is how to model and introduce control mechanisms to real-time systems to improve real-time performance, and to allow the system to adapt to changes in the environment, the workload, or to changes in the system architecture due to failures. In this paper, we pursue this goal by formulating and simulating new real-time scheduling models that enable us to easily analyse feedback scheduling with various constraints, overload and disturbance, and by designing a robust, adaptive scheduler that responds gracefully to overload with robust H∞ and feedback error learning control.

Abstract: Traffic information is so far less than the number of OD variables, that it is difficult to obtain the satisfactory solution. In this paper, a method based on Quantum behaved Particle Swarm Optimization (QPSO) algorithm is developed to obtain the global optimal solution. It designs the method based on QPSO algorithm to solve the OD matrix prediction model, lists the detailed steps and points out how to choose the PSO operator. Moreover, it uses MATLAB program-ming language to carry out the simulation test. The simulation results show that the method has higher efficiency and accuracy.
