CD-MEKC method to analyze triterpene acids in traditional chinese medicines

Abstract: a cyclodextrin-modified micellar electrokinetic chromatographic (cd-mekc) method was developed to separate and determine betulinic acid (ba), oleanolic acid (oa) and ursolic acid (ua) in traditional chinese medicines (tcms). three pentacyclic triterpene acids were baseline seperated in the buffer (ph 9.0) of 6% (v/v) methanol containing 10 mmol l-1 disodium tetraborate, 10 mmol l-1 sodium dihydrogen phosphate, 50 mmol l-1 sodium dodecylsulfate, 15 mmol l-1 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin within 15 min. the good linear relationships between the peak area and concentration were obtained in the ranges of 16.5-330 μg ml-1, 18-360 μg ml-1 and 19.5-390 μg ml-1 for ba, oa and ua, respectively. compared with high performance liquid chromatography with γ-cd as chiral mobile phase additive (cmpa-hplc), cd-mekc has better analytical efficiency for three acids, and the analytical time (15 min) was shorter than that of cmpa-hplc (80 min).
A MEASUR and RUP Combined Business Modeling Method

Abstract: Business modeling is a primary task in the information systems development lifecycle. Although both MEASUR (Methods for Eliciting, Analyzing and Specifying User’s Requirement) and RUP (Rational Unified Process) provide their own Business Modeling Method (BMM), each has obvious merits and demerits. To keep the merits and avoid the demerits at the same time, in this paper, a MEASUR and RUP combined BMM is devised based on the comparison of the two BMMs respectively from the semantics, pragmatics and social world of the semiotic framework. The method proposed consists of three activities in sequence. Unified Modeling Language (UML) Use Case Diagrams (UCD) are employed in the first activity “UML UCD Modeling” to model business functions concerning with the social world since they are the only formal result modeling business functions in both BMMs. The extended UML Activity Diagrams (AD) are employed in the second activity “Extended UML AD Modeling” to model both norms and communications concerning with both the social world and the pragmatics since UML AD can model communications directly and obviously but norms cannot and therefore make the analysis of purposes in communications much easier. In addition, it is easy to extend UML AD with the deontic operators to express the same meaning as norms following the simple rules. The Ontology Charts (OC) are employed in the third activity “OC Modeling” to define meanings of terminology used in business models and concerning with the semantics since ontological dependencies are modeled directly and clearly in OC but not defined in UML Class Diagrams.
Spatial Localization and Relativistic Transformation of Quantum Spins

Abstract: The purity of a reduced state for spins that is pure in the rest frame will most likely appear to degrade because spin and momentum become mixed when viewed by a moving observer. We show that such a boost-induced decrease in spin purity observed in a moving reference frame is intrinsically related to the spatial localization properties of the wave package observed in the rest frame. Furthermore, we prove that, for any localized pure state with separable spin and momentum in the rest frame, its reduced density matrix for spins inevitably appears to be mixed whenever viewed from a moving reference frame.
Relativistic-invariant quantum entanglement between the spins of moving bodies

Abstract: The entanglement between spins of a pair of particles may change because the spin and momentum become mixed when viewed by a moving observer [R.M. Gingrich and C. Adami, Phys. Rev. Lett. 89, 270402 (2002)]. In this paper, it is shown that, if the momenta are appropriately entangled, the entanglement between the spins of the Bell states can remain maximal when viewed by any moving observer. Further, we suggest a relativistic-invariant protocol for quantum communication, with which the non-relativistic quantum information theory could be invariantly applied to relativistic situations.

Abstract: Lung cancer is the first leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the world. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a recognized complication in patients with lung cancer, which is one of the leading cause of death in lung cancer patients. The cancer-related, patient-related and treatment-related factors are the main causes of VTE in lung cancer patients. Malignant cells can directly activate blood coagulation by producing tissue factor (TF), cancer procoagulance (CP), inflammatory factors and cytokines; And the one of predominant mechanisms in cancer-related thrombosis is the overexpression of TF. The 10th edition of the antithrombotic therapy guidelines for VTE with cancer patients (AT-10) published in 2016 by American College of Chest Physicians (APCC) recommended that anticoagulant therapy is the basic treatment for patients with lung cancer complicated with VTE; And low molecular-weight-heparin (LMWH) is preferred as an anticoagulant drug, but can be use with caution due to increasing risk of bleeding.?
Regional Sea Level Variation on Interannual Timescale in the East China Sea  [PDF]

Abstract: Interannual sea level variation is investigated with the oceanic and atmospheric datasets in the East China Sea (ECS). Two modes are distinct on the interannual timescale, illustrated as the basin mode and the dipole mode. They account for 20% and 18% to the total interannual sea level variance respectively. The basin mode corresponds to the variability of the Kuroshio transport which is modulated by the PDO while the dipole mode is likely related to the local oceanic and atmospheric adjustment. Large-scale atmospheric circulation effect is dominant in influencing the interannual sea level in the ECS. ECS sea level responds barotropically to the basin-wide wind field, which illustrates negative correlation to the zonal-mean wind stress curl in the Pacific Ocean. Sea level variation exhibits the negative correlation at 8 years lag with the basin mean wind stress curl anomalies on the interannual timescale. The lagging years are consistent with the timescale that the baroclinic Rossby waves propagate westward in the North Pacific Ocean. Wind stress curl anomalies could also change the strength of the Kuroshio transport, and thus affect the local sea level through sea surface height adjustment. Local oceanic and atmospheric effect illustrates as another influence process. Steric effect contributes more than 20% to the interannual sea level gradually in a belt from the Fujian and Zhejiang coasts to the Korea/Tsushima strait. Especially in the northeast part, its contribution could be up to 60%. While for the local atmospheric process, zonal wind acts as a more important role on sea level than meridional component.

Abstract: Objectives: Concerns regarding the real efficacy of transcatheter patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure versus medical therapy in patients with cryptogenic stroke remained unresolved. We performed a meta-analysis using the randomized controlled trials on the efficacy and safety of transcatheter PFO closure in patients with cryptogenic stroke. Methods: Web of Science, EMBASE, PubMed, and the Cochrane Library were searched for relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The primary outcome was recurrent stroke and transient-ischemic attack (TIA). Original data, hazard ratio (HR) with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were abstracted to calculate a pooled effect size. Results: Our meta-analysis showed benefit with device closure when compared with medical therapy with an HR of 0.54 (95% CI: 0.39 - 0.74, P = 0.108) in the intention-to-treat cohort, 0.44 (95% CI: 0.24 - 0.82, P = 0.103) in the per-protocol populations, and 0.43 (95% CI: 0.31 - 0.60, P = 0.019) in the as-treated populations. Effects of Niupo Zhibao Pellet on high-mobility group box-1 protein expression in lung tissues of endotoxin shock rats

Abstract: Objective: To observe the effects of Niupo Zhibao Pellet, a compound traditional Chinese herbal medicine, on high-mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) expression in lung tissues of rats with endotoxin shock.Methods: Thirty SPF Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group and Niupo Zhibao Pellet group. Rats in Niupo Zhibao Pellet group were consecutively administered 7 days with 3 mL (1 g/L) Niupo Zhibao Pellet saline suspension every day by intragastric administration. Endotoxin shock was induced in rats of the LPS and Niupo Zhibao Pellet groups by intravenous injection of LPS (1.5 mg/kg) and intraperitoneal injection of D-galactosamine (100 mg/kg). Expression of HMGB1 in lung tissues was measured by immunohistochemical method with diaminobenzidine (DAB) coloration, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) labeling, and by Western blotting.Results: Expression of HMGB1 in lung tissues in the LPS group was increased and that in Niupo Zhibao Pellet group was higher than that in the LPS group and the control group. HMGB1 was presented in the cytoplasm of positive cells in the LPS group, but in the nucleus of positive cells in the Niupo Zhibao Pellet group. However, HMGB1 was little expressed in the lung tissues of normal rats.Conclusion: Niupo Zhibao Pellet can increase HMGB1 expression and locate HMGB1 in the nucleus but not the cytoplasm, which may be one of its mechanisms in reducing endotoxin shock.
Facile Solid-State Synthesis Route to Metal Nitride Nanoparticles

Abstract: By a facile and efficient solid-state reaction route using an organic reagent cyanamide (CN2H2) as a precursor with another one being metal oxides, we successfully synthesized seven technologically important metal nitrides including cubic VN, CrN, NbN, hexagonal GaN, AIN, BN, and WN at moderate temperatures. The experimental results show that cyanamide (CN2H2) is a powerfully reducing and nitridizing reagent and the metal oxides are completely converted into the corresponding nitride nanoparticles at lower temperatures than that reported in the conventional methods. It is found that CN2H2 can exhibit some interesting condensation processes, and the final products, highly active carbon nitride species, play a crucial role in the reducing and nitridizing processes.
