Abstract: the author of the article analyzes some contributions of two of the most prominent linguists of the 20th century, ferdinand de saussure and noam chomsky, from a paradigmatic viewpoint of science. the main statement supported here is the evidence, yielded by these contributions, which confirms that linguistics is a mature science in the study of the structure of human language, and also, that there existed a scientific community whose origins account for what could be called the prehistory of linguistics. the author employs for this purpose an argumentative chain which is focused on some core concepts as proposed by thomas kuhn in his book la estructura de las revoluciones científicas.
Santos Caicedo,Doris Adriana;
Forma y Función , 2008,
Abstract: based on a work proposal found in fairclough (2003) for the textual analysis in social investigation, this study deals with the analysis of two decrees issued by the colombian national ministry of education during the stage of contextualization of a critical ethnographic study on the subjective experiences of the autonomy of the teaching and learning processes of a group of colombian college students, professors and administrators. the study also looks both at the lexical choices in the representation of the actors and the social processes included in the decrees and at the level of abstraction or specification of such choices. some of the findings show the absence of the professor (exclusion from the discourse by suppression) as well as the ratification of the student as an object, not as a subject of the educational action (prevalence of nominalization).
Santos Caicedo Doris Adriana
Santos Caicedo Doris Adriana

Henao álvarez,Octavio; Ramírez Salazar,Doris Adriana;
Innovar , 2007,
Abstract: this study was aimed at clarifying how readers explore and construct meaning in a hypermedial text. 120 students participated in the study (60 from the 6th grade and 60 from the 9th grade) from a private institution in medellín, colombia. they read books in hypermedial format over a three-week period during 12 reading sessions lasting 2 hours each; one book was about natural science, another about social science and a third about literature and communication. analysing the results revealed differences in exploration strategies used by 6th and 9th grade basic education students in helping to construct meaning when reading hypermedial texts on different topics. the findings from this research could be used for orientating teachers so that they use hypermedial resources in a more efficient and creative way when seeking to improve learning and reading comprehension.

Acta bioqu?-mica cl?-nica latinoamericana , 2012,
Abstract: characterization of erythrocyte aggregates is important in the analysis of the possible alterations observed in the microcirculation of certain vascular pathologies such as hypertension and diabetes. the objective of this work was to standardize a technique that can be used by any operator having similar equipment. for that purpose, different suspensions of red blood cells from healthy donors were prepared in autologous plasma and then observed with an inverted light microscope. the images of the aggregates were recorded with a digital camera in order to be later analyzed. individual cell count was carried out, as well as 2 to 4 cell- aggregates, 5 or more cell- aggregate and amas (big aggregate networks). measurement of perimeter and area of each of the aggregates made up of 5 or more cells was performed, getting a shape parameter (asp). due to the results obtained, this working protocol has been standardized and it can be concluded that the optimal dilution of red blood cells in autologous plasma is 0.5% for this particular technique.

Abstract: this work derives from a question that often arises in the course of a research project which, if a known fact, can be useful in meeting the objectives of the project. the hypothesis that if research groups could incorporate the metadiscourses of knowledge management into the research project, the research process could be improved, better enabling the researchers to comply with the indicators established by colciencias within the standards of production and quality. therefore, the objective of this study centers on research groups in which the group investigates how knowledge is generate, utilized, transformed, and transferred both within the groups themselves and beyond. this characteristic confers on them an importance relevant to the generation of value and enrolls them in the logic of the so-called “knowledge economy.” therefore, the principal activities are based on the production of intangible resources associated with knowledge. to further advance along these lines of study, the work proceeded with a complex focus, with the design of some instruments appropriate to research-action, as in the case of triangulation. finally, a series of results, both quantitative and qualitative, was obtained that could confirm the hypothesis, that is, that research groups pass through four stages in the creation knowledge: socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization. the results make it possible to affirm, among other things, that there are many possibilities for knowledge management in research groups, but there is a shortage of tools that work specifically with a subject of research that not only focuses on the results but enables the researchers to capitalize on the knowledge generated in the same process.

Discretization and Interaction of Fields via the Classical Kaluza-Klein Theory  [PDF]
Doris LaChance, Claude Gauthier
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2013.412199

We show how the metric of a five-dimensional hyperspace-time can be used to model the quantum nature of electromagnetic interactions. The space-time neighborhood of the point where such an interaction takes place bends according to the curl and the derivative of the local electromagnetic four-potential, both calculated in the direction of the latter. In this geometric setting, the presence of a non-gravitational field is needed to induce the discretization of any gravitational field. We also exploit two variants of the classical Kaluza-Klein five-dimensional theory to obtain coupled generalizations of Einsteins and Maxwells equations. The first variant involves an unspecified scalar field that may be related to the inflaton. The equations of the second variant show a direct interdependency of gravitation and electromagnetism that would emerge or be activated through the production of electromagnetic waves.
