Abstract: The dynamics and configuration of the settlement system in Ia i County have directly influenced its social and economic development. This paper highlights the main characteristics of the present settlement system in Ia i County. The analisys focuses on the structure, number, density, territorial distribution, size, dynamics, and functional typology of rural and urban settlements. It alsoidentifies the main disfunctionalities of the settlements system of Ia i County and provides some recommendations to overcome these problems.

Abstract: La dynamique et la répartition spatiale de la main-d'oeuvre au comté de Iasi. Les changements politiques, socio-demographiques et économiques qui ont marqué l’économie de marché après la chute du communisme se sont répercutés directement aussi sur la main-d'oeuvre du comté de Iasi. Les effets de la restructuration économique, soit la désindustrialisation, ont été ressentis au niveau du comté de Iasi par les taux de ch mage, par la reduction accélérée des taux d'activité et d'emploi et par une réduction substantielle de la navette. Cetarticle examine la maniére dont le nouveau contexte économique, politique et sociale a influencé la main-d’oeuvre à Iasi, suivant les principales tendances d’évolution de la population active, occupée, les employés et les ch meurs, aussi comme la répartition spatiale du ch mage et de personnes employées dans les trois principaux secteurs d'activité.

Abstract: The in vitro short lasting antitumoral treatment of the HEp-2p and HeLa human tumoral cells with some active cytostatic furostanolic-glycoside biopreparations has induced an inhibitory impact upon Na + –K + –depending electrogenic pump. These furostanolic glycoside agents interferes, probably, direct or indirect with the membrane Na+ – K + –ase activity, either by their binding of the enzyme macromolecule or by perturbing of the energetical metabolism which leads to a decreased level of the ATP biosynthesis
The in vivo assessment of the preclinical oncochemotherapeutic effectivness of some furostanolic glycosides

Abstract: The significance of the antitumoral action of some bio- or semiynthesis furostanolic-glycoside preparations upon the development of diverse experimental tumoral lines has been appreciated in relation to the therapeutic effect of different doses on carcinogenesis, as well as the experimental oncostatic activity of some standard cytostatics of clinical use (methotrexate, cyclophosfamide, melphalan and 5-fluorouracil). The laboratory treatment with the bioactive agent in various doses – superior and inferior to that which has conditioned the expression of those antitumoral actions upon Guerin T-8 lymphotropic epithelioma and Walker 256 carcinosarcoma – has highlighted the antineoplastic effectiveness` dependence of these agents of the therapeutic dose. The comparative analysis of the evaluation indices values of the antitumoral pharmacodynamic effect – registerd by us in the experimental therapy with the glycoside extracts and with the reference cytostatic drugs – has revealed that the antitumoral potential of the new autochthonous products is higher, equal or near to those of the standard oncochemotherapeutics. The possibility of optimization of the antitumoral efficiency by experimental manipulation of the therapeutic doses – which proves the existence of a dose-response relationship as well as the antineoplastic effectiveness are relevant for the characterization of the ENLE and D2ENLE as potential oncochemotherapeutic agents. The quantitative preclinical evaluation of the specific pharmacodynamic effect will be completed by the investigation of the new furostanolic-glycoside extracts in tumors with various degree of development.

Abstract: The in vitro action of some total aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts and of their concentrate or permeate fractions, separated by membranary micro- and ultrafiltrations of the primary homogenates, obtained from Helleborus purpurascens ethnomedicinal plant, upon the cell protein biosynthesis, proliferation, viability and development of the HeLa cancerous cells cultures was investigated. The significant proteinsynthesis alteration, protein dynamics modification, decrease of total cell number, cell viability diminution, inhibitory impact upon the cell cultures development, during studied evolution period, suggest the behaviour of these polyphenolic hellebore extracts as in vitro active cytostatic and cytotoxic agents. Our preliminary characterization of these vegetal biopreparations as protein, mitotic, growth inhibitors offers the informational background for further investigations, on many other cancerous and normal cell lines and adequate experimental models to in vitro prescreening, as well as for their introduction in the in vivo antitumoral screening program on different experimental tumoral systems.

Abstract: The in vitro short-lasting cytostatic treatment of the HeLa and HEp-2p tumoral cell cultures with some original furostanolic-glycoside biopreparations has conditioned the perturbation of the glucidic, lipidic and proteic intermediary metabolism processes and of the nucleic acids biochemistry. The metabolic profile of the treated cells seems to be of catabolic type, being outlined by enhancement of the glicogenolysis, glycolysis, lipolysis and proteolysis, of intensification of intracellular consumption of the glucose, lactic acid, free fatty acids and aminoacids, of inhibitory effect upon nucleic acids biosynthesis. These metabolic events were appreciated on the basis of the reduced contents of glycogen, glucose, lactic acid, total lipids, free fatty acids, soluble and unsoluble proteins, DNA and RNA biomolecules. The new tumoral cell metabolic behaviour induced by furostanolicglycoside cytostatics – analyzed in comparison with that of the control untreated tumoral cells – can be consequence of an interaction between the bioactive agents either with the membrane receptors or with intracellular receptors.

Abstract: This paper investigates the relationship between the two parameters, aquifer media and hydraulic conductiv-ity, and assesses their reliability for aquifer vulnerability assessment. To evaluate the possible non-inde-pendence of the parameters in question, sensitivity analysis procedure was used in a GIS environment. The procedure was tested in three areas where aquifer vulnerability was assessed, corresponding to three different hydrogeological settings. The applications demonstrate that non-independence is confirmed and is more evident in alluvial and volcano-pyroclastic aquifers.

Abstract: New Information Systems Development Methodologies (ISDMs) are suggested in the belief that their deployment would be beneficial to consultants in their work. A large number of ISDMs already exist but their value has been questioned and at the same time new methodologies continue to be introduced in an attempt to support and improve the practice of information systems development work. What is not always clear from current studies is that ISDM is a multi-perspective and cross-discipline phenomenon. Although a large amount of knowledge of ISDM is available, different disciplinary interests have resulted in fragmented assessments of it. This paper intends to identify theoretical perspectives applied in the conceptualization of ISDM. A review of the literature on ISDM was conducted and four different theoretical perspectives were identified: 1) system, 2) structure, 3) innovation, and 4) knowledge. While each perspective provides various overarching depictions of ISDM, the synthesized view of ISDM provided in this study reveals the complexities and ambiguities of a multifaceted phenomenon such as ISDM. Suggestions for an alternative conceptualization of ISDM are provided in an attempt to facilitate the investigation of ISDM.

Abstract: We present the case of a 4 year old girl whose adenoidectomy had to be performed via an endoscopictrans oral approach due to the unexpected inability to fully open the mouth during the procedure. The patient had previously been taking Risperidone for behavioral symptoms associated with her autism. The jaw tone returned to normal following the procedure and there were no complications. An interaction between the Risperidone and the anesthetics were the likely cause of the trismus.
