Aquilarin A, a New Benzenoid Derivative from the Fresh Stem of Aquilaria sinensis

Abstract: Chemical investigation of the EtOH extract of the fresh stem of Aquilaria sinensis collected in Hainan Province of China resulted in the isolation of a new benzenoid, named aquilarin A (1), together with two known compounds balanophonin (2) and (+)-lariciresinol (3). Their structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral data. Compounds 2 and 3 exhibited cytotoxicity against SGC-7901 and SMMC-7721 cell lines.

Their structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral data.

Abstract: A new pregnanone, named calotropone (1), was isolated from the EtOH extract of the roots of Calotropis gigantea L. together with a known cardiac glycoside. The structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral data. Compounds 1 and 2 displayed inhibitory effects towards chronic myelogenous leukemia K562 and human gastric cancer SGC-7901 cell lines.

Abstract: Chemical investigation of the EtOH extract of the twigs of Calophyllum inophyllum collected in Hainan Province of China resulted in the isolation of two new prenylated xanthones, caloxanthone O (1) and caloxanthone P (2). Their structures were elucidated by a study of their physical and spectral data. Compound 1 exhibited cytotoxicity against human gastric cancer cell line (SGC-7901),with an IC50 value of 22.4 μg mL-1.

Abstract: A new 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone, 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenethyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-chromen-4-one (1) was isolated from the Chinese eaglewood [Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg]. Its structure was established by detailed MS and NMR spectroscopic analysis, as well as comparison with literature data.

Abstract: Two new daucane sesquiterpenoids 1β,2β-epoxy-10(H)α-dauca-11(12)-ene-7α,14-diol (1) and 1α,2α-epoxy-10(H)α-dauca-11(12)-ene-7α,14-diol (2) were isolated from the plateau medicinal plant Daphne aurantiaca Diels. (Thymelaeceae). Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, as well as HR-ESI-MS data.

Abstract: The volatile oils were extracted from flowers and fruits of Aquilaria sinensis by solvent method and analyzed by GC-MS.Twenty-six compounds were identified from the volatile oils of flowers,accounting for 92.07% of the total volatile oil,and twenty-six compounds from the fruits,accounting for 93.66% of the total volatile oil.Eleven compounds were common in both of flowers and fruits.Fragrant constituents such as nonoic acid were also detected in both oils.

Abstract: To study the antimicrobial components from the endophytic fungus A1 of mangrove plant Scyphiphora hydroph yllacea Gaertn. F ., a new fatty acid glucoside was isolated by column chromatography from the broth of A1, and its structure was identified as R-3-hydroxyundecanoic acid methylester-3- O-α-l-rhamnopyranoside ( 1) by spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR (HMQC, 1H- 1H COSY and HMBC) and chemical methods. Antimicrobial assay showed compound 1 possessed modest inhibitory effect on Saphylococcus aureus and methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) using the filter paper disc agar diffusion method.

Abstract: A new nor-cardenolide, named toxicarioside H (1), was isolated from the latex of Antiaris toxicaria (Pers.) Lesch (Moraceae). Its structure was elucidated on the basis of HRFAB-MS and spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV, 1D and 2D NMR). Compound 1 showed significant cytotoxicity against K562, SGC-7901, SMMC-7721, and HeLa cell lines in vitro by MTT method.
