Abstract: The paper describes the techniques of error minimiz at ion. In the paper, the error is divided into three types: theoretical error such as errors created in the projection from the earth's surface to a plane coordin ate system and in digitizing maps, errors in the procedure of creating thematic d ata from TM images and errors due to the spatial resolution of TM images. Three different methods are adopted in respect to the three types of error mentioned above. To minimize error created due to the TM image's spatial resolution, a ser ies of sampling methods are applied and discussed in detail in the paper. Accord ing to the analysis on the effects of the error minimization methods, especially the sampling methods, there is about 30% cut off from the gross area of farmlan d, and the net area of each land use type is much more close to the actual data.
Hybrid Tdie-TDPO Method for Studying on Transient Responses of Some Wire and Surface Structures Illuminated by an Electromagnetic Pulse

Abstract: An efficient hybrid method, based on time-domain integral equation (TDIE) and time-domain physical optics (TDPO), is proposed for studying on transient electromagnetic responses of some wire and surface structures illuminated by an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), respectively. Two groups of triangular-type basis functions are used to expand the currents on both of them. The derived hybrid TDIE-TDPO equations are solved by marching-on-in-time (MOT) scheme. In comparison with the full TDIE-based MOT method, computational complexity of our developed method is reduced significantly, and at the same time, with high accuracy maintained. Numerical results of EMP responses of some typical wire and surface structures are presented to demonstrate its versatility, accuracy and efficiency, with proximity effects between them captured and discussed.
Hybrid Tdie-TDPO Method Using Weighted Laguerre Polynomials for Solving Transient Electromagnetic Problems

Abstract: An efficient and stable hybrid method, based on the time-domain integral equation (TDIE) and time-domain physical optics (TDPO), is developed for investigating transient radiation and scattering from perfectly electrical conducting (PEC) objects. It at first requires partitioning the PEC object surface into TDIE and TDPO regions, respectively. Then, a set of hybrid TDIE-TDPO equations is derived and solved using an adaptive marching-on-in-order (MOO) method. The fast Fourier transforms (FFT)-based blocking scheme is further implemented into the proposed algorithm so as to reduce dependence of the traditional MOO method to log(), where is the highest order of the weighted Laguerre polynomials used for computation. Under such circumstances, its computational cost, in comparison with the full TDIE-MOO solver, is reduced significantly. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate its accuracy and efficiency in solving some typical transient electromagnetic problems.
A Unique Perspective on Data Coding and Decoding

Abstract: The concept of a loss-less data compression coding method is proposed, and a detailed description of each of its steps follows. Using the Calgary Corpus and Wikipedia data as the experimental samples and compared with existing algorithms, like PAQ or PPMstr, the new coding method could not only compress the source data, but also further re-compress the data produced by the other compression algorithms. The final files are smaller, and by comparison with the original compression ratio, at least 1% redundancy could be eliminated. The new method is simple and easy to realize. Its theoretical foundation is currently under study. The corresponding Matlab source code is provided in? the Appendix.

Abstract: An algorithm for random slidden window aggregate based on base intervals was proposed. According to rules, the data set among sliding window were partitioned into a serial of sets called base intervals, then the base intervals were aggregated separately. The aggregate result on whole window was equal to the sum of base intervals. After window had been slidden, previous partial results could be used to compute aggregate on data sets belonging to current window. Compared with aggregate on whole data set within window, the simulative experimental results Show that the approach based on base intervals can reduce efficiently time and improve the real time performance of data stream processing.

A New Defected Ground Structure and its Application for Miniaturized Switchable Antenna

Abstract: A new defected ground structure (DGS) is firstly proposed in this paper, which has better slow-wave effect than that of cross or dumbbell one. Using the model of transmission line, its equivalent parameters are extracted. With good omni-directional properties, the proposed DGS is then used in the design of a proximity coupled antenna for its miniaturization. The size of the developed antenna is about 68% smaller than that of the conventional one. Further, two artificial cells are added on the feed line to reduce the protrudent stub length from 26.9mm to 18.94 mm. With the utility of the DGS and artificial cells, the size of proximity coupled antenna is reduced significantly. By introducing a PIN diode at the end of feed line, the antenna is switchable in both - and -direction linear polarizations. Such miniaturization in antenna size has little negative effect on its cross polarization, with both simulated and experimental results presented for comparison.
A Novel Dielectric Conformal FDTD Method for Computing SAR Distribution of the Human Body in a Metallic Cabin Illuminated by an Intentional Electromagnetic Pulse (Iemp)

Abstract: One novel dielectric conformal finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is proposed for computing specific absorption rate (SAR) distribution over the human body model in one metallic cabin with some windows on its wall. It is based on the concept of area average, which is different from other traditional conformal FDTD schemes. Our developed algorithm is verified by calculating both point and average SARs of dielectric sphere and human head models illuminated by an intentional electromagnetic pulse (IEMP), respectively, and CST Microwave Studio (MWS) also used for validating its accuracy. Numerical calculations are further performed to show the average SAR distribution over the human body model for different IEMP incidences, where the cabin door is opened or closed. The effects of E-field amplitude, direction and polarization of the incident IEMP on the SAR distributions are characterized in detail. We would like to say that this study will be useful for further electromagnetic protection for some persons working in high power radiation environment.
