Why a universe as a whole must be a quantum object  [PDF]
Pedro F. González-Díaz
Natural Science (NS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ns.2011.35053
Abstract: Technical and physical reasons are given in favor of the idea that single universes, accelerating or not, essentially are quantum-mechanical entities without any classical analogs, even when they are forming part of a given multi- verse.
Energy Subsidies in Argentina Lead to Inequalities and Low Thermal Efficiency
Alejandro D. González
Energies , 2009, DOI: 10.3390/en20300769
Abstract: Natural gas is the main energy resource for buildings in Argentina. Since 2002, subsidies have kept the prices of this fuel between 9 and 26 times lower than regular prices in other countries. The lowest prices are the result of climate-related subsidies. In cold areas, heating uses several times more energy than locations in Europe with a similar climate. A potential for consumption reductions of up to 70% suggests a very low building thermal performance. The main barriers to finding a solution are the heavy subsidies and public unawareness. Users, government officials, and construction professionals do not identify the very low thermal efficiency. Energy policies to encourage improvements are proposed.
/Health Activities and Public Space: The toilet, urban equipment not assumed. The case of downtown Santiago de Chile.
This paper is an attempt to contribute to the revelation and reestablishing the subject of public restrooms in the urban development agenda. The lack of public restrooms has an effect on a large group of people that cannot have the mobility they would like in public spaces and also may affect their health. Women, the elderly, children, handicapped people, homeless, street vendor, beggars are the victims of the lack of public restrooms. This service is a necessary not only as a public equipment also it can be a means to allow social integration.

On the Validity of the Imbert-Fick Law: Mathematical Modelling of Eye Pressure Measurement  [PDF]
Gabriela González Castro, Alastair D. Fitt, John Sweeney
World Journal of Mechanics (WJM) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/wjm.2016.63005
Abstract: Ophthalmologists rely on a device known as the Goldmann applanation tonometer to make intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements. It measures the force required to press a flat disc against the cornea to produce a flattened circular region of known area. The IOP is deduced from this force using the Imbert-Fick principle. However, there is scant analytical justification for this analysis. We present a mathematical model of tonometry to investigate the relationship between the pressure derived by tonometry and the IOP. An elementary equilibrium analysis suggests that there is no physical basis for traditional tonometric analysis. Tonometry is modelled using a hollow spherical shell of solid material enclosing an elastic liquid core, with the shell in tension and the core under pressure. The shell is pressed against a rigid flat plane. The solution is found using finite element analysis. The shell material is anisotropic. Values for its elastic constants are obtained from literature except where data are unavailable, when reasonable limits are explored. The results show that the force measured by the Goldmann tonometer depends on the elastic constant values. The relationship between the IOP and the tonometer readings is complex, showing potentially high levels of inaccuracy that depend on IOP.
González Díaz,Carlos;
Educaci?3n M??dica Superior , 2005,
Abstract: law, a regulating element of all the human relations, is characterized in the health sector by the establishment of a series of interpersonal links that have propitiated the appearance of regulations, resolutions and laws characteristic of this system. however, there is no an agreement in the international sphere on the characteristics inherent to a branch of law focussed on the health topic, since the diversities in the conception and exercise of medicine in the different social systems make difficult the uniformity of a doctrine on this regard. this paper presents an analysis on the topic and by assuming a defining position of these aspects according to the cuban social reality proposes an arranging and definition - as a branch of law - of the juridical material related to the topic of health in cuba not only to make it known among the specialists, but also to introduce it in the teaching activities developed as part of the training of the personnel working in the health sector.
González Díaz,Consuelo;
Boletin de Linguistica , 2009,
Abstract: this diachronic-contrastive study focuses on the syntactic-semantic combinations of donde and par (preposition + (article) + relative) structures in xvi-xviii century spanish of america and spain. the linguistic parameters proposed are: i. semantic:type and function of the antecedent (ant), meaning of the relative form, type of verb in the main and subordinate clauses; and ii. syntactic: presence or absence of preposition in ant, syntactic category and function of ant, syntactic function of the relative and type of relative construction. the results show that donde and par are not totally equivalent. instead, the relative forms combine with others linguistic elements according to theirs semantic and syntactic characteristics.
Díaz González, Eliseo;
Región y sociedad , 2009,
Abstract: the article analyzes the labor market in sonora and mexico's northern border states, based on the development of the maquiladora industry in terms of regional employment and wages. for a tradable and non-tradable goods economy, which uses a model in which international trade has an impact on the employment and wages of a particular region, and based on an estimate using panel data, the article studies the effect of employment and wage demands on the maquiladora sector which resulted from the demand for exports of manufactured goods not produced by maquiladoras from 1997 to 2004, with emphasis on the stage of closings of maquiladoras between 2001 and 2003. the results suggest that, for this period in particular, employment in sectors other than the maquila determines the balance in the job market, and that salaries of the maquiladoras are influenced by the balance of supply and demand in those sectors.
Díaz González,Mario;
Revista Colombiana de Obstetricia y Ginecología , 2002,
Abstract: abdominal pregnancy is uncommon and associated with higher fetal and maternal mortality. it is rare to grow to term and furthermore obtain a newborn in good conditions. a case of abdominal pregnancy at term ( 40,5 weeks) which was successfully treated in the clinica general del norte, barranquilla, colombia, by the obstetrics and gynecologist department; was an obstetric patient of 33 years old, g2p1 with initial diagnosis of 40,5 weeks of gestation, abruptio placentae and pre-eclampsia; with postoperative diagnosis of abdominal pregnancy at term with a newborn in good conditions. this article is a case report. it has a general interest for two reasons: 1) its an uncommon event in obstetrics, the abdominal pregnancies with an alive fetus have very now frequency in the world. 2) a brief revision and how to confront this kind of cases is made.
González Díaz, Isabel;
Revista Estudos Feministas , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2009000200007
Abstract: the aim of this paper is to analyse the process of elaboration and production of the first two anthologies which were edited by women in the academic discipline known as cultural studies. information about the role played by women in the development of that discipline has been taken from both publications. after a brief overview of the history of cultural studies, and of the contributions which it offered to the academic world, there will be a section analysing the birth of women's studies, and its relationship with cultural studies. finally, i will focus on the analysis of the processes of publication of both anthologies, which were a result of the incorporation of feminism to the discipline. the analysis will endeavour to show how what some critics have called the feminist 'interruption' of the development of the process which cultural studies was undergoing at the end of the 70's in the 20th century, was in fact an enormous contribution to the discipline. the inclusion of new subjects and concepts in the academic debate, as well as new tools of analysis, provide evidence of that contribution, despite the difficulties which feminist intellectuals had to face at the start.
