A REVIEW OF p38 KINASE INHIBITORS AS ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUG TARGETS

Abstract: The p38 protein kinase is a serine-threonine mitogen activated protein kinase, which plays an important role in inflammation and arthritis. p38 subgroup of the mitogen activated protein kinasesuper family has four isoforms: p38α, p38β, p38δ, p38γ. p38α is involved in inflammation,proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. The biological functions of p38β, p38δ, p38γ are notunderstood completely. Many p38α inhibitors with diverse chemical structures and modes of protein interaction have been designed on the basis of their ability to compete with ATPsite or Allostericsitefor binding to p38α. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s the initial p38 chemo type, triaryl imidazole was discovered. During the last ten years a number of novel p38 chemotypes were discovered viahigh through put screening. Among several novel p38 chemotypes developed, pyrazolyl ureas and its derivatives were identified as potent and selective p38 kinase inhibitors.

Effect of Sett and Construction on Uniaxial Tensile

Abstract: The tensile behavior of woven fabrics is known to be affected by its sett and construction. This influence, when clearly understood, would make engineering of fabrics for tensile properties easier. Hence, this work is aimed at understanding the interdependence between the sett, construction and tensile behavior of woven fabrics. Experiments have been conducted to study the effect of number of load bearing and interlacing yarns, the spacing between them and their interlacement pattern on the tensile behavior of the fabric, typically characterized by the percent yarn strength utilization in the fabric. The results reveal that the factors mentioned above along with the crimp of the constituent yarns and their interchange during the tensile deformation process, influence the tensile properties of the fabric. It is also observed that there is a significant influence of the distribution of interlacement.
Assessment of risk factors for development of Type-II diabetes mellitus among working women in Berhampur, Orissa

Abstract: Objectives: 1) Assess general health condition and anthropological parameters of the working women. 2) Identify prevalence of Type-II Diabetes among them. 3) Assess risk factors associated with development of diabetes. 4) Educate them about Life Style Modifications. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out in six educational institutes. A total of 100 working women were selected as study population. During the two-month study period, Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) was estimated to identify the diabetics and the Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT). Information from the study population was collected through pre-tested questionnaire using several anthropometric measurements. Results: Out of 100 women, 24 were having FBS compatible with IGT or diabetes. The incidence was highest in 46 to 55 yr age group. 75% of women with diabetes or IGT were in higher income group. Body Mass Index was more than 25 kg/m 2 in maximum (75%) women having diabetes or IGT. 92% women with diabetes or IGT had their Waist Hip Ratio ≥0.85. Moreover, orientation towards healthy life style modification to control diabetes and its prevention was poor among the study population. Conclusion: Prevalence of diabetes and IGT was higher among urban working women and is increasing with increase in age. Obesity plays a major role in development of Type 2 diabetes. Several long- and short-term steps should be taken for promotion of healthy life style modifications to prevent diabetes and emergence of its complications.
Cyber Security for Smart Grid, Cryptography, and Privacy

Abstract: The invention of “smart grid” promises to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power system. As smart grid is turning out to be one of the most promising technologies, its security concerns are becoming more crucial. The grid is susceptible to different types of attacks. This paper will focus on these threats and risks especially relating to cyber security. Cyber security is a vital topic, since the smart grid uses high level of computation like the IT. We will also see cryptography and key management techniques that are required to overcome these attacks. Privacy of consumers is another important security concern that this paper will deal with. 1. Introduction One of the most important, complex, and intelligent network we have is the “power system”. This system consists of circuits, wires, towers, transformers, sensors, and cables interlinked to provide us with uninterrupted power supply. This system is mainly a mechanical system and has very little electronics associated with it like sensors and communication. However, as technology has progressed rapidly and almost all the latest devices need electricity for their operation, it is necessary that we make our present power system more reliable and efficient [1]. We can say the demand for electricity is greater than its supply. The demand is not only high but also fluctuating. We could rely on renewable resources like solar energy and wind energy to meet the present need, but unfortunately, they turn out to be fluctuating too. The smart grid enhances the functionality of the power delivery system. This is possible because smart grid uses sensors, communications, computation, and control in order to make the system smart and by applying intelligence to it in the form of control through feedback or in other words by using two way communication. In order to utilize the available resources, consumers need to change, and they need to act more “smart”. They have to change from being passive consumers to being active consumers [1]. Smart grids aim to reduce the energy consumption, ensure reliability of power supply, reduce carbon foot print, and minimize the costs associated with power consumption. The smart grid system has many advantages, one of them being cost effectiveness. This is because the grid uses internet for communication purpose. However, using the internet means vulnerability to cyber attacks. As opposed to the original power system, the smart grid uses ethernet, TCP/IP and other operating systems, thus making the grid more susceptible to attacks. The smart grid should enhance the
