Singh S,Gautam D.N.S,Kumar M,Rai S
Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: The aim of the present study is to prepare and characterize Naga bhasma on structural and elemental basis to address the role of the raw materials used during the preparation, compound form of the lead bhasma, nature (crystalline/amorphous) and crystallite/particle size of the drug. The study also covers the toxicological effect of the drug on albino rats. It was found that drug contains lead in nano-crystalline (~60 nm) lead sulfide form (Pb 2+ ) associated with the organic contents and different nutrient elements coming from the herbs used during the preparation. Naga bhasma prepared was found to be totally safe in histopathology study on rats at a dose of 6 mg/100 g/day. The different characterization techniques used present a role model for the quality control and standardization of such kinds of herbo-metallic medicines.

International Research Journal of Pharmacy , 2013, DOI: 10.7897/2230-8407.04324
Abstract: Simple and precise quality control analysis of consumer goods is the goal of rising FMCG sector. Ayurvedic red tooth powders are one of the most popular FMCG products in today’s market. The main ingredient (≥80%) of these red tooth powders is Swarna gairik (Red Hematite), thus the qualitative evaluation of red tooth powder can be performed by analysis of Swarna gairik. Objective of present study is to develop a simple yet precise method for the quality evaluation of Ayurvedic red tooth powders. Three marketed samples of red tooth powders S-1, S-2 and S-3 were evaluated by Namburi phased spot test against a control sample C. The variation of color and pattern of the spots were carefully evaluated at three distinct time phases. There were marked differences among the color and pattern of the spots for all the three samples when compared with the control, C. Study revealed that S-1 contains standard Swarna gairik whereas S-2 and S-3 contains spurious Swarna gairik. We concluded that the NST is a simple and dependable technique for the evaluation of Ayurvedic red tooth powder.

Indian Journal of Dermatology , 1999,
Abstract: A case of lupus vulgaris at a rare site-eyelid is reported here. Delayed diagnosis of the condition affecting the left eyelid in a female patient aged 78 years, led to scarring and fixity of eyelids with resultant exposure keratitis and dimness of vision. Antitubercular therapy improved skin condition but dimness f vision persisted.
Talon Cusp On Permanent Maxillary Canine: A Rare Case Report
Ravikumar S. Kulkarni,D.N. Chandan
Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Journal , 2012,
Abstract: teeth are varied. One such rare anomaly affecting the shape of anterior teeth is taloncusp. It is an accessory cusp-like projection found on lingual or labial surfaces of theupper or lower incisors, unilaterally or bilaterally in both dentitions. It is composed ofnormal enamel and dentine, with or without pulp. It is thought to develop as a result ofevagination on the surface of a tooth during morphodifferentiation stage. Reportedincidence is 0.04-10%, with higher prevalence in males. It is more common inpermanent dentition with a predilection for maxillary lateral incisors (55%), followed bycentral incisors (36%) and canines (9%). Talon cusp may cause problems like irritationof tongue during speech and mastication, occlusal interference, caries susceptibility anddisplacement of the affected tooth, and esthetics. Its treatment ranges from applicationof sealant to gradual reduction to root canal therapy. Early diagnosis of talon cusp andits treatment can avoid complications related to this anomaly.
A Suggested Stress Analysis Procedure For Nozzle To Head Shell Element Model – A Case Study
Sanket S. Chaudhari,D.N. Jadhav
International Journal on Theoretical and Applied Research in Mechanical Engineering , 2012,
Abstract: Stress analysis of pressure vessel has been always a serious and a critical analysis. The paper performs a standard procedure of pressure vessel analysis and validation based on previous papers. It also demonstrates the most critical part and how it affects entire structure. Relevant ASME (ASME, 2004, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 2, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, New York) norms are produced to explain analysis procedure. WRC (Welding research council) methodology is explained to validate finite element analysis work
A Study On The Rate And Pattern Of Cutaneous Reactions To Drugs
Gangopadhyay D.N,Chowdhari S
Indian Journal of Dermatology , 1995,
Abstract: A study was undertaken to determine the pattern of cutaneous reaction to drugs during June and July 1994 at the Skin OPD, N.R.S Medical College, Calcutta. Drug rash comprised of 43 patients (about 1%) of total 4,431 patients. There was no age or sex predilection. Exanthematous rash was the commonest type affecting 35% patients, followed by uritcaria including angioedema and FDR, each affecting 23.3% patients. An erosive buccal mucous membrane lesion without skin affection was found in 2 cases. Among the drugs co-trimoxazole was the main offender (37.3%), followed by analgesics (25.6%), ampicillin (9.3%) and A.T. drug (2.3%). Drugs responsible could be elicted in 2 patients and 1 patient gave history of taking medicine. Only one patient gave of Known allergy to some drug.
Vasorelaxant effects of the potassium channel opener SR 47063 on the isolated human saphenous vein and rat aorta
Criddle, D.N.;de Moura, R.S.;
Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-879X2000000800013
Abstract: the vasorelaxant effects of sr 47063 (4-(2-cyanimino-1,2-dihydropyrid-1-yl)-2,2-dimethyl-6-nitrochromene), a new k+-channel opener structurally related to levcromakalim, were examined in isolated human saphenous vein (hsv) and rat aorta (ra). hsv or ra rings were precontracted with either kcl or noradrenaline and cumulative relaxant concentration-response curves were obtained for sr 47063 (0.1 nm to 1 μm) in the presence or absence of 3 μm glibenclamide. sr 47063 potently relaxed hsv and ra precontracted with 20 mm (but not 60 mm) kcl or 10 μm noradrenaline in a concentration-dependent manner, showing slightly greater activity in the aorta. the potency of the effect of sr 47063 on hsv and ra was 12- and 58-fold greater, respectively, than that reported for the structurally related k+-channel opener levcromakalim. the vasorelaxant action of sr 47063 in both blood vessels was strongly inhibited by 3 μm glibenclamide, consistent with a mechanism of action involving atp-dependent k+-channels.
Local Ensembles vs. Global Ensembles
S.B. Kotsiantis,D.N. Kanellopoulos
International Journal of Soft Computing , 2012,
Abstract: Many data mining problems involve an investigation of relationships between features in heterogeneous datasets, where different learning algorithms can be more appropriate for different regions. We propose the locally application of ensembles techniques. This methodology identifies local regions having similar characteristics and then uses combining techniques to describe the relationship between the data characteristics and the target value. We performed a comparison of the locally application of the combining techniques with the globally application of the combining techniques, on standard benchmark datasets and the locally application of the ensembles gives more accurate results.

Sovremennye Tehnologii v Medicine , 2012,
Abstract: The aim of the investigation is to assess the efficiency of Tenoxicam epidural administration, and represent pathophysiological substantiation of new techniques of dorsalgias treatment.Materials and methods. There have been examined 75 patients with intense lumbar pain syndrome who underwent epidural pharmacotherapy of pain syndrome. The 1st group (n=50) had epidural Tenoxicam introduction, by 20 mg in 10–20 ml of saline solution, the control group (n=25) was given the combination of corticosteroids and local anesthetics. The pain syndrome dynamics in the process of treatment was assessed using visual-analog scale and qualitative and quantitative method of pain syndrome assessment. Results. The concept of degenerative cascade in dorsalgia pathogenesis has been represented. Short- and long-term treatment results of intense lumbar pain syndrome by Tenoxicam epidural introduction have shown its efficiency. Compared to the use of combination of local anesthetics and glucocorticosteroids, the present method reduces the period of treatment of patients with dorsalgias, and contributes to marked regress of pain syndrome and prolonged remissions.
