Abstract: The formation of the antihydrogen beam in the AEGIS experiment through the use of inhomogeneous electric fields is discussed and simulation results including the geometry of the apparatus and realistic hypothesis about the antihydrogen initial conditions are shown. The resulting velocity distribution matches the requirements of the gravity experiment. In particular it is shown that the inhomogeneous electric fields provide radial cooling of the beam during the acceleration.

Abstract:

The effects of electric field and ultrasonication on the deposition and alignment of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) across a 10 μm electrode gap have been studied. It was found that a frequency of ~1 MHz of the applied field yields the largest current independent of the magnitude of the voltage or the ultrasonication time of the sample. Increasing the ultrasonication time of a SWCNT solution changes the I-V characteristics of the deposited nanotubes from linear to nonlinear for all the voltages and frequencies of the applied field. Even in the absence of an electric field, SWCNTs bridged the electrode gap up to a critical sonication time which depends on the concentration of nanotubes in the solution.

Abstract: Non-linear optical materials find wide range of applications in the fields of opto-electronics, fiber optic communication, computer memory devices etc. Tris-Glycine Zinc Chloride (TGZC) is one of the NLO materials exhibiting more efficiency. In the present study Tris-Glycine Zinc Chloride were grown is single crystal form using slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with the space group Pbn21. The optical absorption studies show that the crystal is transparent in the entire visible region with a cut off wavelength of 250 nm. The optical band gap is found to be 4.60 eV. The dependence of extinction coefficient (K) and refractive index (n) on the wavelength has also been reported. Force constants (k) were calculated using FTIR spectral analysis which shows higher values of k for COO and C=O stretching vibrations. The dielectric studies show that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decrease exponentially with frequency at different temperatures (35℃, 55℃, 75℃ and 95℃).

Abstract: Single crystals of Glycine Zinc Chloride (GZC) were grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system with the space group Pna21.The optical transmission study reveals the transparency of the crystal in the entire visible region and the cut off wavelength has been found to be 230 nm. The optical band gap is found to be 3.40eV. The transmittance of GZC crystal has been used to calculate the refractive index (n), the extinction coefficient (K) and the real er and imaginary ei components of the dielectric constant. Mechanical studies were carried out on the as grown crystal. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss measurements were carried out at different temperatures and frequencies. Photoconductivity measurements carried out on the grown crystal reveal the negative photoconducting nature.

Abstract: Improvement of digital FIR filter is vital in the field of Digital Signal Processing in order to reduce the area, delay and power. Multiplication and Accumulation (MAC) unit of Finite Impulse Response(FIR) filter has been designed using efficient multiplier and adder circuits for optimized APT (Area,Power and Timing) product. In this paper, the design of direct form FIR filter with efficient MAC unit has been presented. Initially, full adder and half adder structures are shrunk down by reducing number of gates. These compact full adder and half adder structures are incorporated into Wallace Multiplier and Improved Carry-Save Adder. The proposed 16-bit Carry-Save Adder has been improved by splitting into four parallel phases. Consequently the delay of enhanced Carry- Save Adder is reduced. Generation of carry output is performed using number of OR gates in a sequential manner. All these enhanced architectures are incorporated into the Digital FIR Filter to reduce the area, delay and power utilization.

Abstract: Introduction: Quality assurance is an essential aspect of cancer care. Assessment of surgical quality in breast cancer is still evolving. Variability in surgical care among surgeons has been well documented in literature and we sought to investigate such variation between two groups of surgeons referring patients to our oncology center. Methods: A prospective review of patient records of all breast cancer referrals to our department was made. Two groups were identified and segregated based on the performance of mastectomy by a general surgeon (GS) or by a surgical oncologist (SO). Patients treated with modified radical mastectomy for clinical stages 1 - 3 were included for the study. Patient demographic data and disease related information were collected in addition to thorough evaluation of the surgical pathology report. Margin positivity, mean nodal harvest, nodal ratio, inadequate axillary clearance, revision surgery and the use of radiotherapy for inadequate nodal dissection were the parameters evaluated in the study. Results: A total of 142 patient records were evaluated 72 designated as group 1 (general surgeons) and 70 as group 2 (surgical oncologist). The median age was 52 years and both groups were evenly balanced for age, laterality of breast lesion, histological type and grade. Abstract: This paper presents the methodology, properties and processing of the time-frequency techniques for non-stationary signals, which are frequently used in biomedical, communication and image processing fields. Two classes of time-frequency analysis techniques are chosen for this study. One is short-time Fourier Transform (STFT) technique from linear time-frequency analysis and the other is the Wigner-Ville Distribution (WVD) from Quadratic time-frequency analysis technique. Algorithms for both these techniques are developed and implemented on non-stationary signals for spectrum analysis. The results of this study revealed that the WVD and its classes are most suitable for time-frequency analysis.

Abstract: The real-time fault diagnosis system is very important for steam turbine generator set due serious fault results in a reduced amount of electricity supply in power plant. A novel real-time fault diagnosis system is proposed by using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm related to tuning parameters of Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The model of novel fault diagnosis system by using ANN are built and analyzed. Cases of the diagnosis are simulated. The results show that the real-time fault diagnosis system is of high accuracy and quick convergence. It is also found that this model is feasible in real-time fault diagnosis. The steam turbine is used as a power generator by SONELGAZ, an Algerian company located at Cap Djinet town in Boumerdes district. We used this turbine as our main target for the purpose of this analysis. After deep investigation, while keeping our focus on the most sensitive parts within the turbine, the weakest and the strongest points of the system were identified. Those are the points mostly adequate for failure simulations and at which the designed system will be better positioned for irregularities detection during the production process.

Abstract:

The effect of calcitonin on the blood glucose level in glucose-tolerance test of children with the first degree obesity was studied. Initial blood glucose level was normal and glucose-tolerance test per os didn’t expose glucose tolerance impairment in children under control. Calcitonin didn’t change initial glucose concentration but evoked impairment of glucose tolerance. The girls with the first degree obesity were more sensitive to hyperglycemic effect of calcitonin than the boys. Sex specificities must be taken into consideration in calcitonin treatment. Besides one ought mean that the increasing secretion of calcitonin occurs in stress-reactions. In these conditions endogenous calcitonin can make the same effect on the regulation of carbohydrate metabolism as exogenous injections of hormone.

Abstract:

Immediate and late follow-up results of oncomammological application of novel Ukrainian endoprosthesis “Nubiplant”, made of one piece of polyacrylamide gel, for mammary gland malignancies (MGM) radical treatment with reconstruction were analyzed. This endoprosthesis have proved its unique complex of favorable surgical and oncological properties, such as the shape and size accommodation for mammary gland plasty purposes, absence of shell and textured surface. Of 184 patients, operated on radically for initial stages of MGM, using \"Nubiplant\" endoprosthesis, postoperative complications have had occur in 18 (9,8%): the wound seroma in 12 (6,5%) and partial necrosis of cutaneous edge of postoperative wound – in 6 (3,8%). The seromas were successfully treated by their punctures and local necrosis - using excision with secondary suture placement. Late follow-up results were obtained in 112 (60,9%) patients: three-year period have had survived 104 (92,6±2,4%), and a five-year one – 84 (75,0±4,0%) of them. A contracture capsule was revealed in 3 (2,6%) patients, and excised with the endoprosthesis change. “Nubiplant” endoprosthesis have advantages over most popular worldwide kinds of such products. It may be used securely and effectively for total or partial reconstruction of mammary gland, including cases with hypoplasia, and is more resistant to trauma, radiation therapy and local complications occurrence, including contracture capsule formation. Its property to absorb the water may be used for purposes of plastic surgery. Prophylaxis of specific immediate surgical complications is trustworthy in MGM patients, using modified endoprosthesis “Nubiplant”, containing insulin, antihistamine and antiseptic medicines.
