The first year of Borexino
Borexino Collaboration,D. Franco
Physics , 2009,
Abstract: Borexino is an experiment designed to detect in real-time low energy solar neutrinos. It is installed at the Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory and has started taking data in May 2007. We report the direct measurement of the 7Be solar neutrino signal rate after 1 year of data taking. Implications and perspectives are discussed.
On Smooth Divisors of a Projective Hypersurface
Ph. Ellia,D. Franco
Mathematics , 2004,
Abstract: We prove an effective bound for the degree of a smooth divisor of a hypersurface of P^n, n>4 (projective space over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero). Our result follows from a strong (since the degree of the divisor is not involved) generalization of the "Speciality theorem" of Gruson-Peskine, which we prove to hold for any smooth, subcanonical, codimension two, projective verieties of dimension at least three.
Gonality, Clifford index and multisecants
Ph. Ellia,D. Franco
Mathematics , 1998,
Abstract: We show, among other things, that in most cases the gonality of a subcanonical curve in projective-three space is computable by multisecants.
On smooth surfaces in projective four-space lying on quartic hypersurfaces with isolated singularities
Ph. Ellia,D. Franco
Mathematics , 1999,
Abstract: We prove that a smooth surface, non of general type, in projective four-space, which lies on a quartic hypersurface with isolated singularities has degree at most 27 (in fact we prove a slightly more general result).
Estrés alimentario y salud laboral vs. estrés laboral y alimentación equilibrada
Díaz Franco,Juan José;
Medicina y Seguridad del Trabajo , 2007, DOI: 10.4321/S0465-546X2007000400012
Abstract: although occupational stress is a very common reality for many workers, we have to admit that some professions generate a higher level of distress as, for example, management roles, night shift working, monotonous jobs, communitarian services, heavy industry sector, mining, construction, etc. chronic stress can disrupt behaviours (like foods habits) of those persons who suffer it. at the same time, and in a contrary manner, eating disorders can also trigger different types of stress linked pathologies. for the above mentioned reasons, it is not strange that the digestive system becomes in a target of stress' pathologies, especially associated with negative work environments. in some circumstances, there is a dissociation between the appetite, (primarily psychic sensation), and the hanger, (basically organic sensation). the appetite as a mental status can be altered substantially by many different emotional situations (like occupational stress) or throughout chemical and vascular variations as well as organic impulses transmitted to midbrain from different organs where the stress could also play a very relevant role. nutrition depends essentially on of food habits, but at the same time, a very important source of stress is the way in which we eat, because if we do it wrongly, we can become ill. if our cells don't receive the correct nutrients a very high level of stress is produced due to this dissatisfied internal demand.

The purpose of this work is to show the most relevant aspects of a research the ethical aspects of the use of placebo, both in the clinical and the research fields, and concludes that consent information from the patient is the most important aspect the ethical use of placebo and evaluation from Ethics committees the use of placebo and the research ethics committees has to participate actively and regular for use of placebos.

Although occupational stress is a very common reality for many workers, we have to admit that some professions generate a higher level of distress as, for example, management roles, night shift working, monotonous jobs, communitarian services, heavy industry sector, mining, construction, etc. Chronic stress can disrupt behaviours (like foods habits) of those persons who suffer it. At the same time, and in a contrary manner, eating disorders can also trigger different types of stress linked pathologies. Teleportation protocol with non-ideal conditional local operations
C. Di Franco,D. Ballester
Physics , 2009, DOI: 10.1016/j.physleta.2010.05.068
Abstract: In the standard protocol for quantum teleportation, one assumes that Bob is able to perform ideal operations on his qubit. Here, we analyze the case in which some of these operations are more reliable than others. Moreover, we consider the channel shared by Alice and Bob as non-maximally entangled. In this context, the average fidelity of teleportation can be maximized by properly choosing the basis in which Alice performs her two-qubit measurement.
