Abstract: background: fever by hemorrhagic dengue, has an important growth in the last decade, aedes aegypti is the main mosquito’s species involved in its transmission. development: a bibliographic review on the theme where it became evident that integrated entomoepidemiological vigilance is considered by the pan-american health organization/world health organization, one of the main priorities in the fight against dengue, always evaluating bionomics modifications that may be represented in the aedes aegypti, which will make more effective the implementation of ecological strategies as, entomopathogenic bacteria and the use of natural enemies among others. conclusions: ae. aegypti has achieved a remarkable dispersion in the world, this leads to important epidemic outbreaks of the disease in numerous countries and regions. in the control or eradication of the vector is indispensable the community participation, by means of a dynamic, re-elaborate, redesigned process and enriched with important intra and extra-sector participation, with enough flexibility and adaptability, together with a methodology that facilitates the expression of local diversity.

Abstract: given the importance of rabbit farming in tlaxcala, particularly when compared to other mexican rabbit producing states, this article describes a technical diagnostic of the activity. the purpose of this diagnostic was to analyze some of the available channels for marketing and sale, and to propose strategies to facilitate sales. in order to conduct this work, technical analyses were conducted on participating farms. these analyses were complemented by semi-structured interviews with randomly selected producers and key informants involved in the chain of production, as well as by periodic visits to locations where rabbit meat is sold. one result of this study is that the rabbit producers intlaxcala use a predominantly extensive system of production, while incorporating some elements of semi-intensive or corporate systems. some alternatives that could improve the marketing and sale of rabbit meat include: increasing the efficiency of product storage; creating distribution centers and points of sale; taking advantage of economies of scale; and differentiating the product that is sold to the consumer.
Comportamiento estacional y temporal de Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) en Sancti Spíritus, 1999-2007 Season and weather-dependent behavior of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae) mosquitoes in Sancti Spiritus in the period 1999-2007

INTRODUCTION: Aedes aegypti is the main dengue and hemorrhagic dengue vector and its widespread behavior responds to a number of factors, among them, the climatic ones. OBJECTIVES: to determine the behavior of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes depending on season and weather conditions and how it relates with climatic factors such as temperature and rain. METHODS: a descriptive seasonal and weather study was made on the basis of data given by the provincial weather center and the surveillance anti-vector fight unit located in Sancti Spiritus province, which covered the 1999-2007 period. RESULTS: of the total number of samples, 86,7% comprised immature phases of the mosquito whereas 13,2% corresponded to mosquitoes at the adult phase; 19,2 % of foci were found inside houses and premises but 80,7 % outdoors. The highest focal incidence occurred in 2001 (278 foci) and in 2005 (219 foci) whereas the lowest incidence was found in 1999 (14 foci) and in 2003 (32 foci). The municipalities with the highest numbers of foci were Trinid

ABSTRACT The Natural and Traditional Medicine has entered a new stage of development with the striking increase of the therapeutic alternatives demand. One of its limitations is the scarcity of researches, done applying the scientific method to acquire and evaluate the obtained results or the incorrect design of the research, mainly in those including the evaluation of agents, therapeutic procedures or diagnosis of Natural and Traditional Medicine, through clinical trials. With the objective of assessing the quality of the methodological design of the clinical trials of Natural and Traditional Medicine we carried out a cross-sectional, descriptive research to evaluate the clinical trials protocols of the Master′s defenders and residents of this specialty, from July to November 2011. We analyzed in total 36 protocols of clinical trials. The main problems detected were: 41,7 % of the trials did not add relevant information; 80,5 % had problems in the design; in 22,2 % of them there was a lack of previous clinical information justifying the beginning of the trial, and 16, 7 % did not fulfilled the ethical aspects of a clinical trial.

Abstract: The gill monogenean Pseudorhabdosynochus lantauensis has been consistently observed oncultured orange spotted-grouper (Epinephelus coioides) fingerlings. The tolerance level of E. coioides toformalin (H2CO solution) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), two of the chemicals most commonly used totreat ectoparasites, was determined. The computed 3h and 6h LC10 of formalin were 322 mg L-1 and 275mg L-1 while the 9h LC10 and LC50 of H2O2 were 255 and 298 mg L-1, respectively, at 28oC. The efficacyof freshwater, hypersalinity, formalin and H2O2 bath treatment against P. lantauensis was determined invivo. Hydrogen peroxide at 200 mg L-1 for 1h was effective in eliminating P. lantauensis on E. coioidesfingerlings with no apparent adverse effect on the host fish.
