Cytogenetic analysis in western Atlantic snappers (Perciformes, Lutjanidae)

Abstract: the lutjanidae or snappers are a family of perciform fishes, mainly marine but with some members living in estuaries and entering fresh water to feed. some are important food fish. cytogenetic data for lutjanidae are scarce. in the present work, we cytogenetically characterized through conventional giemsa staining techniques, ag-nor and c-banding the species ocyurus chrysurus, lutjanus analis, l. alexandrei, l. cyanopterus, l. jocu and l. synagris, all found along the brazilian coast. karyotype analysis of all six species showed a modal value of 2n = 48 acrocentric chromosomes. single nors were found at pericentromeric position on the long arms of the 2nd pair in o. chrysurus, l. alexandrei and l. cyanopterus, on the 5th pair in l. analis and on the 23rd pair in l. synagris. the species l. jocu presented multiple nors located on the 2nd pair at a pericentromeric region and on the 5th pair at a telomeric region. heterochromatic blocks were identified at the centromeric region of all chromosomes of the studied species. these results indicate that, despite of the chromosomal stability of this family, a relative structural diversification seems to have occurred in the chromosome evolution of the group. such diversification was evidenced by divergent number and location of ribosomal sites among species. the nor-bearing pairs represented an efficient cytotaxonomic marker for most of the analyzed species. the data suggest that the presence of interstitially located single nors on a large acrocentric pair should represent a basal condition for lutjanids.

Abstract: La realitat multicultural de la societat comporta reorientar les accions dels serveis socials, educatius i sanitaris de la comunitat per tal de donar resposta a les necessitats específiques de les persones immigrants i reduir les diferencies amb la població autòctona. La promoció de la salut ha d’anar dirigida a capacitar la població immigrant per gestionar la seva salut, amb la finalitat de reduir les desigualtats en salut com a conseqüència de les discriminacions per raons ètniques o culturals. Des de l’educació, s’han d’aplicar estratègies per millorar la salut física i emocional que augmenti el benestar i la qualitat de vida de tota la societat, bo i incorporant actituds d’empatia i transformant les percepcions negatives en mirades positives envers la diversitat cultural, com un fet que ens enriqueix i amb el que hem de viure i conviure. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ La réalité multiculturelle de la société dans laquelle nous vivons implique de réorienter les actions développées dans les services de la communauté, sociaux, éducatifs et sanitaires, pour apporter une réponse aux besoins spécifiques des immigrés et réduire les différences par rapport à la population autochtone. La promotion de la santé doit viser à rendre la population immigrée capable de gérer sa propre santé, en réduisant ainsi les inégalités qui seraient la conséquence des discriminations pour des raisons ethniques ou culturelles. Dans la perspective de l’éducation, on doit appliquer des stratégies pour améliorer la santé physique et émotionnelle qui augmenteront le bien-être ainsi que la qualité de vie de toute la société, en introduisant des attitudes d’empathie et en transformant les perceptions négatives en regards positifs en ce qui concerne la diversité culturelle, comme un fait qui nous enrichit et avec lequel nous devons vivre. The multicultural reality of our society implies the reorientation of the actions carried out in the social, educational and health fields within the community in order to respond to the immigrant community’s specific needs and lessen the differences with respect to the autochthonous population. Health promotion must be aimed at preparing the immigrant population to manage its health, thus reducing inequalities in health because of discrimination on ethnic or cultural grounds. Abstract: Family education is considered a protection factor with regards to the healthy development of children, especially in social risk situations. In this paper we present the results related to the family’s role in the healthy development of their children, from two works that stress on two moments of special difficulty for families, as the birth of a child and the adolescence. They are part of the strategic lines on sexual and reproductive health of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (Spain), and of the Spanish State. Such works try to explore the families’ guidance needs to outline a program on parenthood education and, to analyse the needs of teenagers in vulnerable situation in relation to sexual and reproductive health to develop a strategic action plan. A research-action methodology was applied with focal groups with 56 professionals and 13 families in the first work, and 48 professionals and community workers with 72 teenagers in the second group. The results show that the families feel insecurity and anxiety before the birth of a child, especially, in relation to how to look after him/her or for family pressure. The teenagers demand a better communication with their parents in sexual health issues; and the professionals suggest the development of family guidance programs, especially in risk situations.

Abstract: Most public universities in Latin America and Mexico lack laboratories for measuring sediment transport or to do academic activities. The Research Center of the engineering faculty of Chiapas state university (UNACH by its acronym in Spanish) designed a portable prismatic channel for teaching and researching the sediment transportation in rivers. This paper presents the method to measure river sand transportation in a laboratory channel with a mobile bottom and presents the results of twenty-seven experiments done in the portable channel, using nine different slope inclinations and 27 flow and water speed values. The three main results are the following: 1) The construction of the channel with variable slopes, to experiment and measure sediment transportation. 2) A method developed for measuring the volume of sediment in a laboratory. 3) In a channel with a bottom slope of 0.071, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 1.77 m/s, the volume of transported sediment was 0.015 m3; in a channel with a bottom slope of 0.44, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 0.788 m/s, the volume of transported sediment was 0.006 m3; in a channel with the bottom slope of 0.024, a water flow of 2 l/s and a water speed of 0.62 m/s, the transported sediment was 0 m3.

Abstract: Se profundiza sobre los elementos teóricos asociados al proceso de toma de decisiones en las organizaciones, dígase su origen y evolución, así como su marcada importancia en los contextos organizacionales. De igual forma se abordan las principales características de este proceso, enfatizando en sus componentes: situación problémica, decidor, información y contexto. Se examina la racionalidad limitada como uno de sus elementos distintivos y se valora el carácter informacional de la toma de decisiones, validando posibles espacios de actuación, funciones y roles para los especialistas de información en el desarrollo del proceso de decisión. Abstract: Der Artikel befasst sich mit dem Design einer Studie über junge Gymnasiallehrer und -lehrerinnen in Spanien. Die Studie untersucht die berufliche Identit tskrise, mit der die Lehrer(innen) als Folge einer Bildungsreform, die ihre Arbeitsumgebung betraf, konfrontiert waren. Die biographisch-narrative Herangehensweise dient als theoretisches Gerüst für die Darstellung der erz hlten Lebensgeschichten. Es wurden insgesamt zehn biographische Interviews geführt. Jedes einzelne Interview wurde zun chst unter Verwendung vertikaler und diachroner Methoden analysiert, dann folgte eine inhaltsanalytische Untersuchung in einer transversalen (horizontalen bzw. synchronen) Perspektive entlang der Kategorien, die als Identit tskomponenten bestimmt worden waren. Als Ergebnis der transversalen Analyse entstand ein Leitfaden, der im Weiteren als Basis für Gruppendiskussionen verwendet wurde. Insoweit konnten die ideographischen und personalen Dimensionen der Interviews im Verlauf des Forschungsprozesses mittels der sequentiellen Triangulation (MORSE, 1991) durch die Gruppenperspektive erweitert und verdichtet werden. Bei Letzerer handelte es sich – STAKEs Klassifikation entsprechend – um eine kollektive Fallstudie mit acht Fokusgruppen. URN: urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs0501125 This article describes the design of a study that involved junior high-school teachers in Spain. The study investigated the professional identity crisis the teachers faced as a result of an education reform, which affected their work environment. The identity biographical narrative approach was adopted as the theoretical framework (re)presented in the life stories told by the individuals. Ten biographical interviews were conducted and each interview was analyzed separately (using vertical or diachronic analysis) and, through content analysis, in a transversal perspective (horizontal or synchronic) with the categories which were determined as identity components. As a result of the transversal analysis a protocol guide was created, which was used as the basis for the discussion groups. By means of a sequential triangulation (MORSE, 1991), the ideographic and personal dimensions of the interview enabled us to have a detailed report which was later enhanced by the group perspective. According to the classification by STAKE, this research can be considered a collective case study by means of eight focus groups.
