Abstract: Objective: The aim of the study was to make a literature review on counseling and family education about the care with tracheostomy and develop a guidance booklet for parents about the cautions in handling tracheostomy tubes at home. Methods: This research is based on literature review from 1992 to 2012, realized from October of 2011 to August 2012, through the following databases: medline, lilacs, scielo and sibinet USP, with the elaboration of a guidance booklet for parents, about home care of tracheostomized children. Results: We elaborated a guidance booklet for parents, about the care of tracheostomized children and all were described according to literature review. Conclusion: According to the literature review family education in the care of tracheostomized children is essential so that caregivers have full autonomy to safely and effectively conduct the necessary techniques in their homes.
Camacho dos Santos,Cristiane Alves;
Memoria y Sociedad , 2010,
Abstract: this article discusses the political and identity mobilization of history in the proccess of independence of brazil, considering that the formation of the state and the emergence of the nation in the brazil are two dimensions articulated in the context of crisis and overcome the ancient regime portuguese in america. more specifically, we intend to discuss the discursive mobilization of the recent historical experience in the periodic press published in brazil between 1821 and 1822. the text is guided by the hypothesis, inspired by the theoretical assertions of r. koselleck, that as a project of independence is crystallized, the "colonial past" tended to lose its regulatory powers to the present, at the same time that there was an intense appreciation of the "recent past". seeks to demonstrate how this element, among other factors, legitimized and guided, in terms of discourse and identity, the process of independence of brazil.
Alves,Miriam Cristiane; Seminotti,Nedio;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 2009,
Abstract: objective: to understand the concept of health and the source of psychological distress among followers of a traditional african-brazilian religion. methodological procedures: qualitative study performed in a community of followers of a traditional african-brazilian religion, in the city of porto alegre, southern brazil, between 2007 and 2008. the priest/babalorixá and six followers of this community participated in the study. open interviews, which were recorded and subsequently transcribed, were conducted to collect data and construct the corpus of analysis. report categorization, based on the complex systemic approach, enabled the construction of two main themes: 1) religious community and concept of health, and 2) origin of psychological distress and cultural identity. analysis of results: in this religious community, traditional health therapies, such as the use of herbs, baths, diets and/or initiation rites, were associated with conventional therapies proposed by the sistema único de saúde (sus - unified health system). bonds with and belonging to a territory, the relationships among individuals, and the relationship among their spiritual, psychological and physical dimensions are considered in their concepts of psychological distress and health. conclusions: the way to understand and act in the world, as experienced in this community, with its myths, rites, beliefs and values, constitutes a set of legitimate types of knowledge in its context, which oftentimes opposes and goes beyond professionals' technical-scientific knowledge and truths. this community is a space marked by welcoming, counseling and treatment of followers, where the physical, psychological and spiritual dimensions are integrated in these practices. as regards the black population health, psychological distress results from their having been uprooted from african black cultures.

SEM observation of grain boundary structures in quartz-iron oxide rocks deformed at intermediate metamorphic conditions
Lagoeiro, Leonardo;Gon?alves, Cristiane C.;
Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0001-37652011005000015
Abstract: several studies have demonstrated the effect of a second phase on the distribution of fluid phase and dissolution of quartz grains. however, as most observations came from aggregates deformed under hydrostatic stress conditions and mica-bearing quartz rocks, 3-d distribution of pores on quartz-quartz (qqb) and quartz-hematite boundaries (qhb) has been studied. several fracture surfaces oriented according to finite strain ellipsoid were analyzed. the pore distribution characterizes the porosity and grain shape as highly anisotropic, which results from the nature and orientation of boundaries. qhb have physical/chemical properties very different from qqb, once the hematite plates have strong effect on wetting behavior of fluid, likewise micas in quartzites. they are pore-free flat surfaces, normal to compression direction, suggesting that they were once wetted with a continuous fluid film acting as faster diffusion pathway. at qqb, the pores are faceted, isolated, close to its edges reflecting the crystallographic control and an interconnected network of fluid along grain junctions. the qqb facing the extension direction are sites of fluid concentration. as consequence, the anisotropic dissolution and grain growth were responsible for the formation of hematite plates and tabular quartz grains significantly contributing for the generation of the foliation observed in the studied rocks.
Pissarra, Cristiane Maria Alves;Pulino, Petronio;
Pesquisa Operacional , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-74382000000200003
Abstract: in this article we present an iterative two-step algorithm for the numerical solution of linear complementarity problems (lcp). the algorithm presented combine the active set strategy with the square conjugated gradient method for the linear system solution. this iterative two-step algorithm was based in a similar one developed by kocvara & zowe (1994), that combine the symmetric successive over relaxation with projection method and the precondicioned conjugated gradient method. in the numerical experience section, we have tested the method for solve some lcp with non-singular matrices. such matrices belong to semi positive definite matrix class, p-matrix class and p0-matrix class. furthermore we show a comparision between our method and the one developed by pardalos, ye, han & kaliski (1993).
Alves, Míriam Cristiane;Seminotti, Nedio;
Psicologia USP , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642006000200006
Abstract: the different ways of action and reflection facing group phenomenon are well known as controversial. they run against in the dichotomy between the subject and the society, between the parts and the whole. according to the view of the observer either the subject or the group disappears. this fact alone opens a mental abyss impossible to cross over in terms of social and individual phenomena. conceptions of subject and society, subject and group that might be seen as antagonistic and concurrent, at first sight, might be taken as supplementary under the perspective of complex thinking. this theoretical article aims to bring into discussion the possibility of articulating complexity paradigm by studying small groups. the main theoretical reference is the complexity theory in edgar morin. in complex thinking, subject, small group and larger context constitute themselves at the same time. the reciprocal interference that characterizes a dialogic, systemic, hologramic, resourceful and complex relation is highlighted.
Silva,Cristiane Gon?alves Meireles da;
Revista de Saúde Pública , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-89102002000500007
Abstract: objective: to describe the meaning of fidelity and condom use among married men and to suggest hiv risk reduction and aids prevention strategies. methods: ten men residing in americanópolis, a neighborhood in the city of s?o paulo, americanópolis, were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. the sample was drawn through contacts established in a preliminary research among married women. interview analyses focused on the social build up of masculinity and its meanings. results: as to fidelity, the study group perceives as natural for a man not to have his wife as his only sex partner. fidelity is understood as respecting their wives, which is translated into the use of condoms in extra-marital relationships that are seen as associated with disease risk and vulnerability. sexual intercourse with their wives is perceived as risky because it is based on love and companionship, and the use of condoms is only for contraception especially when other birth control methods cannot be used. conclusions: in the study, men revealed a very limited perception of their vulnerability to aids. promoting the use of condoms in extra-marital relationships meets this society's definitions of masculinity. there is a need of a more efficient strategy in the short run for risk reduction among men and their wives, and the development of other strategies that incorporate structural changes of genre relations. condom use should be promoted among married men as a contraceptive method, as well as a form of fidelity and family protection.
Pereira, Marta Cristiane Alves;Fávero, Neide;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692001000400002
Abstract: this is a descriptive study conducted in a university hospital with the purpose to apprehend some aspects influencing human motivation and their implications to work results. a recorded semi-structured interview was used for data collection which was applied to 18 members of a nursing team, of whom 6 were nurses and 12 were nursing auxiliaries and technicians. the apprehended material was submitted to the content analysis technique, which enabled the identification of "work itself" as the most frequently cited category considered to be motivating and "work organization" as the most unmotivating. the most cited suggestions referred to "work organization" and to "interpersonal relationship".
