Crespi-Abril,Augusto César;
Ecolog?-a austral , 2011,
Abstract: interview is not often used in ecology research. the use of this technique in the present study allowed determining that adult individuals of illex argentinus were present in waters of nuevo gulf between may and october through 15 years. this fact was used as a validation for the model that predicts that spawning areas of the species would be located in near-shore waters, reinforcing the hypothesis that the individuals of the species spawns mainly in coastal waters rather than over the slope.

Abstract: In this study we report the presence of paralarvae and juveniles oflllex argentinus in the waters of Nuevo Gulf (42°45'S-64°45'W, Argentina) during three consecutive years (2004-2007). Paralarvae were caught using a Hensen net of 295 μm mesh size. Juveniles were found stranded on the coast in September 2007. These findings show that the species uses near-shore waters for breeding.
N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) mediates vascular relaxation via nitric oxide (NO) in rats but not in mice  [PDF]
Francesco Crespi
Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology (ABB) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/abb.2010.14045
Abstract: Amperometric studies have indicated that substance P as well as NMDA stimulates release of NO in rat aortic rings. These data have been confirmed by functional observations of vaso-relaxant action of NMDA within noradrenaline pre-contracted aortic rings, supporting the presence of NMDA receptor in rat aortic rings. It is known that the enzyme endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) mediates vasodilatation not only in rats, but also in C57BL6 mice aortic ring, indicating that in this blood vessel NO is the endogenous endothelium-derived vasodilator. In this work, amperometry together with specifically nitrites insensitive micro-biosensors have been applied to examine the effect of NMDA and substance P upon NO release in rat and in two strains of mice aortic rings. The electrochemical data monitored demonstrate that NMDA mediates vascular relaxation via NO in rats but not in mice. These results are supported by functional data, therefore they suggest that NMDA receptors are “not responding” within these experimental conditions in mice aortic rings.
Is a Divergent Central Serotonergic Activity Responsible for Either Despair or Learning Behavior in Intact Wistar or Sprague-Dawley CD Rats, Respectively? A Concomitant Behavioral and Electrochemical Analysis  [PDF]
Francesco Crespi
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2010.13028
Abstract: Behavioral observations combined with electrochemical analysis have been performed in Wistar or Sprague-Dawley CD rats in the attempt to clarify earlier controversial behavioral reports. In particular, these rats were submitted to FST and to repeated Forced Swimming (rFS, during 4 days). In parallel, voltammetric in vivo analysis of serotonin (5-HT) levels in platelet-rich plasma (PRP) collected daily from these animals was also performed as it is known that peripheral 5-HT levels monitored in rat PRP mirror cerebral 5-HT contents. Thus, combined behavioral-voltammetric studies allow deducing changes of central 5-HT levels that could be correlated to FST or rFS, with the advantage of non invasive analysis of central neurotransmitter activities in intact behaving animals. In particular, combined beha-vioral-voltammetric results suggest that “behavioral despair” is the process interesting Wistar rats when submitted to FST or rFS while “learning to be immobile” is the process involving Sprague-Dawley CD rats.
Ethanol from lignocellulosic biomass
Abril,Diana; Abril,Alejandro;
Ciencia e investigación agraria , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-16202009000200003
Abstract: ethanol is the liquid combustible that has become the most promising alternative substitute for gasoline because of the experience gained in its production, the possibility of mixing it with gasoline in different proportions, the possibility of using the existing gasoline distribution infrastructure, and the fact that major changes in engines are not required for its use. lignocelluloses offer great potential as a biomass source for ethanol production, although their use still requires in-depth analysis with an objective and holistic focus that includes present and future technologic implications. the present article reviews current knowledge about the characteristics and sources of vegetable biomass, as well as the development and possibilities for obtaining ethanol from lignocelluloses sources.
Cristianismo y esclavitud.

Abstract: The conversion of the Africans to Christianity was a long process that began in Africa and concluded in the New World. The religious protection and the health of the soul of the slave, was, for the slave owner and the State, a permanent obligation. But carrying out this moral obligation involved a multitude of factors: Spaniards did not know African languages, massive numbers arrived at the principal ports of entry, contraband of slaves, a lack of ecclesiastic control due to the lack of priests and missionaries and non compliance on the part of slave owners. All of this meant that the Christianization of the slaves occurred with less rigor than with the Indians, whose conversion to Christianity was a priority during all stages of the conquest and colonization. In the essay that follows, I hope to show some aspects of this problem by studying the legislation, the ecclesiastic precepts, as well as the customs followed in the distinct places of destination of the African slaves. I have also attempted to focus this theme in the area of the River Plate and, accordingly, the paper is based on edited documentary sources in addition to documentation found in the National Archive of Argentina and the Archive of the Indies, in Spain.//La conversión de personas africanas al cristianismo fue un proceso largo que empezaba en áfrica y concluía en el Nuevo Mundo.
Jaime Rest, intelectual específico Jaime Rest, specific intellectual

Anclajes , 2012,
This article is part of doctoral research "Jaime Rest: critical role and cultural politics (1953-1979)" and shall endeavor to describe and analyze strictly intellectual performance of the literary critic, cultural critic, teacher, translator and editor of Argentina Jaime Rest (1927-1979). The current investigation is displayed under the following hypothesis: studied in its own historical inscription, a network of constraints and choices located in a specific context of affiliations and theoretical and political affiliations, the intellectual project Jaime Rest exhibits key features and functions of the model of the "specific intellectual" described by Michel Foucault in the mid 1970's.

Abril,Adriana;
Ecolog?-a austral , 2005,
Abstract: the efficiency of a treatment for industrial effluents based on a combination of habitat and microbial population management was tested in a metallurgic plant in córdoba, argentina. effluents (between 30 - 40 m3 day) were originated from a) zinc process (20%), b) engine washing (70%), and c) sewage (10%). the treatment process included a combination of three managed habitats: aquatic (pond), wetland (flooding plots), and agricultural land (flooding and crop plots). the three habitats were managed to optimize the degrading activity of water, soil, and phyllosphere microorganisms. management practices included introduction of terrestrial and aquatic vegetation, water aeration, sediment removal, and inoculation of selected native microorganisms. efficiency was assessed through five years using the following parameters: a) monthly: water ph and abundance of degrading and coliform bacteria in the pond b) yearly: zn, cr and mineral oil content in the underground water (9 m deep), sediments in the ponds and organic matter in the subsoil (1 and 2 m deep). water ph was permanently high (8.4 -10.9), whereas abundance of degrading microorganisms was very low at the beginning (log 1.2/ ml) increasing through the following years and with fluctuations of between log 3.6 and 8.9/ ml. no increase in bacterial abundance was detected after inoculation. coliform bacteria were scarcely observed. high concentration of zn (6.48 - 7.08 mg/kg) and cr (0.19 - 0.50 mg/kg) and low mineral oil content (0.23 -1.01 mg/kg) were detected in the pond′s sediments. none of these components were detected in underground water and subsoil. habitat management allowed an efficient degradation of sewage and mineral oils. the system does not produce waste material such as sludge, water, nor underground water pollution.
