Photochemical efficiency in bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris L. and Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) during recovery from high temperature stress

Abstract: bean (phaseolus vulgaris l., cv. carioca and cv. negro huasteco) and cowpea plants (vigna unguiculata l. walp cv. epace 10) were grown in a growth chamber with ppf at leaf level of 200 mmol.m-2.s-1 and air temperature 25 + 1 oc. the first fully expanded pair of leaves of 12-day-old plants was submitted to high temperature stress (25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 48 oc) for 1.5 h. the photochemical efficiency of psii during recovery was monitored by means of chlorophyll a fluorescence at six different times (0.5, 1, 2, 4, 24, and 48 h) after stress, at 25 oc, using a modulated fluorimeter. increasing temperature promoted an increase in ff at 45 oc, possibly associated with dissociation of the light harvesting complex from the reaction centre of psii, but a decrease was observed at 48 oc in all cultivars. fmax decreased at 48 oc in carioca and negro huasteco, but not in epace 10, showing a possible correlation between heat tolerance and fmax for this cultivar. the low values of fmax in carioca and negro huasteco indicated a loss of psii activity followed by death of these plants. fv/fmax did not vary in epace 10 but varied in carioca and negro huasteco with increasing temperatures.

Abstract: this article is theoretical showing the importance of the demarcation of knowledge in science teaching in traditional societies. it is based on the central arguments of constructivism and contextual epistemological pluralism. before this, however, it points out some basic concepts (culture, science and traditional knowledge) and briefly discusses the history of science teaching in brazil and its relation to cultural diversity. the demarcation of knowledge in science teaching in traditional societies enables students to understand that there are other ways of explaining nature, besides those that are part of their daily lives. thus, students will have their visions of nature enlarged and can apply the knowledge they have at their disposal in times that are appropriate, thus contributing to the respect and maintenance of traditional knowledge.

Abstract: objective of this essay was to lead a reflection/critics about the theoretical and philosophical ideas on the concepts of aging/elderly/old age, and gerontogeriatric nursing. benchmarks of nursing, gerontology and the complexity of morin as theoretical were used. the gerontology is still a new science in brazil, emerging, rising, and walking to the need to implement actions aimed at improving the quality of life of those who are older and a guarantee of autonomy and independence of that part of the old already. there is a need to establish terms that approximate to give a common language among health workers/nurses that act, to act in that area or those who are concerned to use appropriate terms in reference to gerontology.

Abstract: this bibliographic clipping is aimed at presenting the history of current undergraduate nursing curricula, starting with the first school that came into existence in brazil - "escola de enfermeiros e enfermeiras do rio de janeiro", in 1890, until the administrative act cne/ces, from march/2001, a document that established a new curriculum for nursing education in our country. i have noticed that the changes in the curricula were obligatory, and now i notice that participation of nurses and a stronger collective interest has evolved, and they seem to be engaged in educating more humanized, reflexive, and critical nurses for the future.

Abstract: the curriculum restructuration in the nursing graduation course, that is necessary according to the national curriculum guidelines (ncg), starts its activities with a critical reading of the resolution 03/2201. in this resolution, there is, besides others orientations, the egresses profile. this critical review of literature aimed at reflecting about the words or categories that the egresses profile contains, according to the ncg. it will be made by using dictionaries (of portuguese language and philosophy) and literature diverse (of the nursing course and others subjects) to understand them better and perceive them relevant to the nurse professional formation and, consequently, essential in the pedagogical political project (ppp). the values of the egresses profile proposal in the nurse's formation are recognized, but it is important to realize that it is not a matter of establish new marks, prioritize new objectives, change the profile, restructure subjects, reestablish functioning conditions or schedule only, but realize a collective work with a group growth.

Abstract: this paper aims at introducing complexity, by showing its importance through research carried out in the nursing area. it consists of a reflection divided into two parts: the complexity's principles, by edgar morin; and research on nursing originating from complexity. by taking into account the complexity involving the objects of study in nursing, it is desirable to choose a methodological path which is more appropriate to its comprehension, that is, to choose only one method which is more likely to portray a real picture of the subject. by understanding such method as a path to investigation combined with and originating from theory and not as a support to scientific practice, the concept of complexity, by edgar morin, when used as a theoretical choice, ends up as a guide to a methodological path.
O ensino da enfermagem gerontogeriátrica e a complexidade

Abstract: the present study had the objectives of identifying the characteristics of gerontogeriatric nursing and of reflecting on this teaching, based on identified characteristics, in the light of complexity. a qualitative research, its data sources were nine proceedings volumes of brazilian nursing congresses and seven brazilian nursing publications of the 1991-2000 period. the main body of this article was comprised of 16 scientific articles; qrsnud* ist4 was used for analysis. results showed that this teaching does take place, and it is carried out through: mandatory disciplines in the curriculum; practical activities; activities during curricular training; extra-curricular activities; participation on specific or general nursing events in which studies are presented; other activities. to use the principles of complexity is tantamount to perceiving educative teaching as trying to convey a culture that will enable future workers to understand the human condition and to think in a contextualized, open, globalized, ethical way.

Abstract: As investiga es sobre o ‘texto’ e seu conceito têm levado a inúmeras discuss es nos meios acadêmicos, tornando-se um tema complexo e n o consensual entre os especialistas da área, principalmente com a chegada dos textos tecnológicos. O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o que o avan o tecnológico reserva para o campo da Linguística Textual com a emergência dos textos spimes (JOHNSON-EILOLA, 2010). Tecnicamente, spimes – um neologismo do autor, come am e terminam como dados. S o sustentáveis, aprimoráveis, com identidade única e feitos de substancias que podem ser retornadas à cadeia de produ o de outros futuros spimes. No contexto de funcionalidade do texto spime, homem e máquina podem ser compreendidos como seres agentivos. The investigations on the ‘text’ and its concept have influenced countless discussions in the academic surroundings, becoming a complex theme and no consensual among the experts of this field, mainly with the appearing of the technological texts. The aim of this article is to discuss what the technological advance reserves for the field of the Textual Linguistics with the emergency of the texts as spimes (JOHNSON-EILOLA, 2010). Technically, spimes – a neologism of the author, begins and finishes as data. Spimes are maintainable, refined, with a single identity and made of substances that can be returned to the chain of production of other futures spimes. In the context of functionality of the text, spime, man and machine can be understood as agentive beings.

Abstract: In Brazil, the domiciliary solid waste transfer stations are acquiring importance since the decade of 50, mainly due to the growth of the cities and the disposal places of solid waste very distant in relation to the urban center. However, the conception of these installations changed enough long of the years and it will to suffer great transformations in next future, a time that the financial resources are scarce and the concern with the preservation of the environment is increasing. This work shows the background of the domiciliary solid waste transfer stations in Brazil and considersprocedures for the planning and the operational control of these enterprises. = As esta es de transferência de resíduos sólidos domiciliares no Brasil vêm adquirindo importancia desde a década de 50, principalmente devido ao crescimento das cidades e ao distanciamento dos locais de disposi o de resíduos sólidos emrela o ao centro urbano. Todavia, a concep o dessas instala es mudou bastante ao longo dos anos e tende a sofrer grandes transforma es em futuro próximo, uma vez que os recursos financeiros s o escassos e a preocupa o com a preserva o do meio ambiente é crescente. Este trabalho relata o histórico das esta es de transferência de resíduos sólidos domiciliares no Brasil e prop e procedimentos para o planejamento e o controle operacional destes empreendimentos.
