Abstract: this paper is based on a previous study (angiorama y taboada 2008) which was carried on in order to explain the existence and distribution of metal objects and valliserranas features in the province of santiago del estero. now we incorporate and analyse relevant information about textiles and ceramics. our research shows that some kind of relationship could have existed between tawantinsuyu and certain groups from the salado medio. we suggest that this connection would have adopted some kind of alliance between the empire and the local communities.

Abstract: in this work we consider that the co-residence is the first step to study the household and its activities. the space and the houses to live in become the subject of that social concept. the set of the various appliances found and recovered and how they are spatially distributed permit us to set up the first hypothesis about the organization of the activities of the group living together. in order to evaluate this model we analyse some superficial evidences of the prehispanic settlement los amarillos (quebrada de humahuaca, jujuy) identifying a repeated architectonic pattern. we select a household that could be one of the simplest of them and we start the excavation. as a result of this we recover a varied set of residues. then diversity of the materials found, seems to indicate the development of a great number of activities: carving and lithic reactivation, making of food, textile works and metallurgical practices. the arrangement of the findings shows a high level of segregation and space regulation, and permit us to propose some inferences and hypothesis.

Proposal to emend the genus Millerocaulis Erasmus ex Tidwell 1986 to recombine the genera Ashicaulis Tidwell 1994 and Millerocaulis Tidwell emend. Tidwell 1994
Vera,Ezequiel I;
Ameghiniana , 2008,
Abstract: mesozoic osmundaceae petrified stems are often referred to the genera ashicaulis tidwell 1994 or millerocaulis erasmus ex tidwell emend. tidwell 1994, depending only on the presence or absence of leaf gaps in the xylem cylinder. however, this character is problematic for generic distinctions, since some specimens (as in the living osmundaceae) present or lack these structures, depending on the place where the plant was cut. furthermore, different authors have identified leaf gaps in some specimens where others reported the absence of these structures. since this generic separation often leads to incomplete comparisons between the species, it is proposed to combine ashicaulis tidwell 1994 and millerocaulis erasmus ex tidwell emend. tidwell 1994 in millerocaulis erasmus ex tidwell 1986, adding the necessary diagnostic changes.
Experience in the analysis of mortality in pediatric acute leukemia at the National Cancer Institute Experiencia en el análisis de la mortalidad por leucemia aguda pediátrica en el Instituto Nacional de Cancerología

Biomédica , 2012,
Abstract: Introduction. Mortality rate by childhood acute leukemia is an indicator of access and effectivity of health services. Analysis of this indicator allows the identification of factors contributing to the development of the illness and the final condition of affected children. Objective. To describe the operative experience results obtained by committee of analysis of institutional mortality by childhood acute leukaemia. Materials and methods. A descriptive analysis of deaths by acute lymphoblastic or myeloid leukaemia reported in children under 15 was carried out at the National Cancer Institute-Colombia, 2008-2010. Avoidability analysis was performed using the "three delays" model developed by Thaddeus and Maine (1994). Results. Out of 24 deaths analysed 87.5% were caused by acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The median age was 9.54 years. The delay 3 was identified in 83% of the cases and transfers during treatment were the most common limitation (66.7%). 83.3% of deaths were deemed unavoidable given the clinical conditions of the patients. Conclusions. This is the first experience in mortality analysis by a chronic event in childhood population both, at the National Cancer Institute and in the country as a whole. Even though the delays identified did not condition mortality in a direct way, they did nonetheless constitute the basis for suggested improvements that might influence the quality of attention to children with cancer.
Floristic changes in alpine plant communities induced by the cushion plant Azorella madreporica (Apiaceae) in the Andes of central Chile

Abstract: it is well known that the number of plant species associated with nurse plants increases with elevation. however, studies conducted so far have largely ignored the effect of nurse plants on other community attributes, such as the species abundances, diversity and evenness. moreover, changes in these community attributes along environmental gradients have also been seldom examined. the present study evaluates the effect of the cushion plant azorella madrepórica (apiaceae) on species richness, species abundance, diversity and evenness of vascular plants at two elevations in the andes of central chile. theoretically, the impact of this nurse cushion plant on these community attributes should be grater at a higher elevation. results showed that the proportion of plant species associated with cushion plants increases with elevation, and the abundance of some species is also greater within cushions than on bare ground. although the proportion of species growing within cushions increased with elevation, diversity and evenness were higher on bare ground. this is due to some few species that attained very high densities within cushions, generating assemblages highly dominated by some few species. ordination analyses indicated differences in species assemblages within and outside a. madrepórica at the higher elevation. therefore, the influence of cushion plants on community structure changes with elevation. accordingly, we suggest that attributes other than species richness must be included in future studies in order to analyze the impact of nurse species on community structure along environmental gradients.
