Interpreta o gráfica do conceito de recta tangente a uma curva num ponto por professores estagiários
Floriano Viseu,Concei??o Almeida
Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2003,
Abstract: This paper reports a study conducted with 19 student-teachers. Our objective was to investigate how student-teachers graphically view the concept of tangent to a curve on a fixed point. An interpretative approach revealed that the student-teachers had a global perspective of the concept, which reflected a strong influence of the tangent to a circumference.
Interpreta o gráfica das derivadas de uma fun o por professores estagiários de Matemática
Concei??o Almeida,Floriano Viseu
Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2002,
Abstract: The Portuguese secondary school mathematics curriculum draws on results of research conducted in the Mathematics Education field to stress the importance of teaching mathematical concepts using, whenever possible, their different representations. Numerical, analytical and graphical approaches to the teaching of the derivative concept are indicated as essential to enhance conceptual meanings and relations. However, in general, students show a preference for analytical approaches in detriment of the graphical one, which may be the result of predominantly analytical teaching approaches. In this context, the goal of this study was to investigate mathematics student teachers difficulties in interpreting and relating the graphs of a function and those of their derivatives. A questionnaire about graphical representations of the derivative of a function was applied to 19 mathematics student teachers and an interpretative analysis of the results was performed.
Educa??o como aprendizagem da vida

Abstract: a world-society that ranges from the westernization of the world to cultural diversity, from progress to poverty, and from the "society's metamorphosis alternatives or its disaster" ( morin, 2008a, p.38) seems to have in education an important key to face the scenario of uncertainty that characterizes our common future. overcoming the fragmentation of knowledge, reconnect knowledge and transpose the shortcomings of the information society set the open horizon of complex knowledge and a reform of thought and education. 'educating for life' becomes, according to edgar morin, the role and mission of education tuned with an ecology of ideas.
Ensinar a condi o humana

Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente , 2008,
Abstract: The paradigm of thinking the world in a fragmented way that permeates the modern sciences born in the 17th Century, especially from the first half of the 20th Century onward, is unsatisfactory to the understand complex phenomena – be them physical or social. An ecology of knowledge, as it is now being conceived, recognizes the multidimensionality of phenomena and the interconnection among systems, at the same time that it reaffirms both cultural and cognitive diversity as principles capable of surpassing the “monoculture of mind” and questioning the planet’s Westernization.

Abstract: Introduction: Hospital Recreation (HR) aims to reduce disasters caused by hospital admission. Objectives: To expose the behavior of children in cancer treatment (CA) during HR, and to verify which recreational activities generate the most adherence. Methods: The research is an experimental clinical trial of a non-probabilistic and intentional sample, with a quantitative and qualitative approach. Participants were 43 children (both sexes), with CA, admitted to the Pediatric Hospital Oncology CenterPHOC. The mean age of the children in fact was 7.5 years, and the data of mean and standard deviation between parenthood confer with the data of the results found during the research. The study lasted 12 weeks, with 38 sessions lasting 3 hours. Using games of activity: cognitive, manipulative, perceptive, creative and cooperative. Inclusion criteria: 1) being hospitalized in the PHOC, of the city of Natal; 2) being released by the medical team to participate in the activities. Children who were on special care in the ICU were excluded from the study. The behavior of the children was evaluated by the observation matrix proposed by Urie Bonfenbrenner, approached by Krebs and Koller. At

American Journal of Molecular Biology (AJMB) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajmb.2014.43014
Abstract:

OCT-2, a member of the POU homeodomain family of transcription factors, has been implicated in gastric cancer lymph node metastasis on a single publication so far. Other members of the same family of transcription factors were found to have a role in intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer (OCT-1) and in trophectoderm differentiation of embryonic stem cells (OCT3/4) via modulation ofCDX2. These findings prompted us to evaluate whether OCT-2 could in fact have a role in gastric oncogenesis and lymph node metastasis in human gastric cancer, designing an immunohistochemistry study of the putative expression of OCT-2 on human gastric cancer tissue of 69 surgical archival specimens of intestinal and diffuse type. We could not find expression of OCT-2 on any of our cancer tissues, metaplasia or normal gastric mucosa despite the expression of OCT-2 on tonsil lymphatic cells (tissue test) and normal lymph nodes. We concluded that, based on immunohistochemistry, OCT-2 does not have a role in gastric oncogenesis nor does have any relationship with lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer.

Zika Virus Controversies: Epidemics as a Legacy of Mega Events?  [PDF]
Alberto Krayyem Arbex, Vagner Rosa Bizarro, Mikele Torino Paletti, Odirlei Joanir Brandt, Ana Luísa Concei??o de Jesus, Ian Werner, Luiggi Miguez Dantas, Mirella Hansen de Almeida
Health (Health) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/health.2016.87074
Abstract: The current knowledge of the Zika Virus epidemic clearly lacks a comprehensive understanding of its determinants and clinical outcomes. Until recently regarded as a “simple” dengue-like infection, it nowadays turned into a real challenge to Public Health around the world. The Zika Epidemic shows a quick spread, affects unprepared health systems, and presents with severe neurological complications of newborns—a concrete threat to pregnancies. This re-emerging infectious disease is a source of deep doubts and harsh debates regarding Public Health and even bioethical issues. Several doubts still remain on how to deal with the various possible transmission ways of the disease, the surge of a generation of thousands of microcephalic newborns (and questions on how to handle them within limited health systems), and severe malformations concentrated so far in Northeastern Brazil. Finally, a debate is raised about how the “Endemic State” of Brazil, deeply merged in a health care crisis for almost 40 years now, currently confronts 3 current epidemics of the arboviruses Dengue, Chikungunya and now Zika, all associated with a lack of basic sanitation. Brazil must deal with these biological threats in the context of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, since Chikungunya has probably been brought to Brazil during the FIFA Soccer World Cup (2014) and Zika Virus spread is associated with the Soccer Confederations Cup (2013).
Hemangioendotelioma epitelióide - Um tumor pulmonar raro
Saleiro,Sandra; Barbosa,Miguel; Moura,Concei??o Souto; Almeida,Jo?o; Ferreira,Silva;
Revista Portuguesa de Pneumologia , 2008,
Abstract: the authors report a case of a rare pulmonary neoplasm - epithelioid hemangio-endothelioma, in a 39 year-old woman, asymptomatic until december 2003, when she developed pleuritic and right-sided chest pain. the patient presented a previous chest radiograph, performed 13 years before, which showed multiple small bilateral pulmonary nodules attributed to tuberculous sequelae. the definitive histological diagnosis was made by lung biopsy through thoracotomy. the patient developed a clinical and imagiological worsening and then therapy with interferon α-2a was started. even with imagiological stability of pulmonary lesions the patient remained symptomatic and died nine months after the diagnosis had been established. the authors emphasise the rarity of this type of pulmonary neoplasm and discuss its clinical presentation, histological features, treatment and prognosis.
