A Fredholm alternative for quasilinear elliptic equations with right hand side measure

Abstract: We consider a quasilinear elliptic equation, with right hand side measure, which does not satisfy the usual coercivity assumption. We prove an existence result in the line of the Fredholm alternative. For this purpose we develop a variant of degree theory suited to this setting.

Abstract: tip drought is a disease that has been causing severe damages to eucalyptus trees, resulting in canker along the branches. the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of fungicides and plant extracts on the control of botryosphaeria ribis. the in vitro test of fungicides was completely randomized with eight treatments: carbendazim, chlorothalonil, difenoconazole, picoxystrobin + ciproconazol, ciproconazol, azoxystrobin, picoxystrobin and control, four doses: 1 μg/ml, 10 μg/ml, 100 μg/ml and 1000 μg/ml, with five replicates. after homogenization of the medium, they were plateds, recultured in a disk with culture medium containing the pathogen and kept in bod at 25 ° c for five days. the evaluation was done by daily measuring the mycelium radial growth in centimeters. the experimental design of chemical control in the field was in 5x3 factorial arrangement, five fungicides and three application methods, with four replicates. four applications were done with fifteen-day intervals. treatments were: 1. azoxystrobin, 2. carbendazim, 3. chlorothalonil + thiophanate-methyl, 4. difenoconazole and 5. control. simultaneously evaluations were done following a scale from 1 to 6, conform the intensity of symptoms. the experimental design in vitro using plant extracts was in 5x4, factorial arrangement, with three replicates. the evaluated treatments were extracts from: a thousand leaves sao caetano melon, eucalyptus, alcohol and control, at the concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20%. the extracts and the alcohol were mixed with previously autoclaved culture medium, which was then plated in petri dishes. the evaluation was done by daily measuring the mycelium radial growth in centimeters. in the test with seedlings the experimental design was in 2x2x4, factorial arrangement, and two cultivars were used besides two treatment modes (preventive and curative) and four control products (s?o caetano melon extract, c. citriodora extract, alcohol and water). the pathogen was inocu

Abstract: various tumor cells express significantly higher amounts of vip receptors (vipr) that provided the basis for the clinical use of radiolabeled vip for the in vivo localization of tumors. this work studied the labeling of vip and vip10-28 with iodine-131 to compare the biological distribution of the labeled compounds in nuce mice and the affinity for tumor cells. both vip and vip10-28 peptides contain two tyrosine residues, in positions 10 and 22, that are theoretically equally susceptible to radioiodination employing oxidative electrophilic substitution using oxidizing agents like chloramine t. radiochemical purity of the reaction mixture was determined by electrophoresis and hplc. the vip peptide and the fragment were labeled with radioiodine with good radiochemical yield (above 96%). suitable, but important differences can be observed in biological distribution studies. comparatively, blood clearance was faster for labeled vip and perhaps because of this, the uptake in tumor was lower, especially during the first hour. these differences observed in the biological distribution of the compounds can be related to the lipophilicity of the labeled compounds.

Abstract: in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, accumulation and proliferation of immature cells infiltration characterise a heterogeneous entity, featuring a wide variety of clinical and biological aspects. in the adult lla concentration of high-risk prognosis factors such as age, b-cell, chromosomic changes, and chiefly the presence of chromosome positive ph. considerations of high morbidity and mortality rates related to haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (tcth) have generated controversy about this therapeutic modality in adult patients with lla in first remission (1st rc). the results of conventional therapy with chemotherapy in contrast with different risk groups of patients with lla, has been used for the indication of tcth. thus we present the algorithm indications of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adult patients with lla. rev.

Abstract: the rising success rate of solid organ (sot) and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (hsct) and modern immunosuppression make transplants the first therapeutic option for many diseases affecting a considerable number of people worldwide. consequently, developing countries have also grown their transplant programs and have started to face the impact of neglected tropical diseases (ntds) in transplant recipients. we reviewed the literature data on the epidemiology of ntds with greatest disease burden, which have affected transplant recipients in developing countries or may represent a threat to transplant recipients living in other regions. tuberculosis, leprosy, chagas disease, malaria, leishmaniasis, dengue, yellow fever and measles are the topics included in this review. in addition, we retrospectively revised the experience concerning the management of ntds at the hsct program of amaral carvalho foundation, a public transplant program of the state of s?o paulo, brazil.

Abstract: radiopharmaceuticals have been produced and distributed in brazil for almost 40 years, by the institutes of the comiss?o nacional de energia nuclear (cnen) particularly the instituto de pesquisas energéticas e nucleares (ipen), and applied in nuclear medicine in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. some aspects related to the production, distribution and use of radiopharmaceuticals are very uncommon and different from the conventional drugs, making necessary the introduction of an specific regulation for these radioactive drugs. in this way, the world health organization (who) and health regulatory agencies from different countries have specific legislations to radiopharmaceuticals production and use.

Abstract: alternaria brown spot, caused by alternaria alternata sp. citri, attacks with more intensity the tangelos minneola, tangerine dancy, and murcotts, and with less intensity the tangelos orlando and the tangerinas novas, lees and sunburst. this disease causes severe defoliation and drop or necrotic spots in the fruits. the aim of this work was to evaluated the chemical control of brown spot, and to define the most appropriate dosage of fungicide to control it. the experimental design was split-spot, with ten treatments and 3 doses of fungicides, with five replicates, the fungicides were: azoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, trifloxystrobin, trifloxystrobin + propinebe (2 applications) followed by 3 applications of mancozeb, difenoconazole, trifloxystrobin + propiconazole, iprodione, trifloxystrobin + tebuconazole (2 applications) followed by 3 applications of copper, copper + oil and control without fungicide. it was evaluated the incidence and number of lesions per leaf, as well the incidence of the disease on fruits and yield at the time of fruits appearing (kg/ha). all treatments were superior to the control for yield. among them, the treatment with trifloxystrobin + propiconazole was more profitable comparing cost and yield.
Optimization of Labeling Conditions to Produce N-Isopropyl-p-[123I]-iodoamphetamine: A Radiopharmaceutical for Brain Perfusion Imaging.

Abstract: Brain SPECT tracers, such as [123I]-labeled amines and technetium-labeled compounds, offer high resolution SPECT images after intravenous injection using conventional rotating gamma cameras. The aim of this study was to optimize labeling conditions to produce N-isopropyl-p-[123I]-iodoamphetamine) and to propose an easy, rapid and inexpensive chromatography quality control procedure to determine radiochemical purity. [123I]-IMP was produced by isotopic exchange in presence of Cu(II) as catalyst and an excess of ascorbic acid as reducing agent. In order to obtain good radiochemical yield in a minimal reaction time, labeling reaction parameters were evaluated, with the study of different reaction temperatures and time, mass of ascorbic acid, reaction pH and [131I]NaI/IMP ratio. [123I]-IMP was obtained with radiochemical yield greater than 97% using 3 mg of IMP.HCl, 3.15 mol of Cu++ and an excess of ascorbic acid in acid medium (pH 2.0) at 175oC and 30 minutes. Radiochemical purity was determined by paper chromatography with high resolution. Biological distribution studies in animals showed high and persistent cerebral uptake and in vivo stability of the compound.
Ability of different methods to fill retrograde cavities with MTA

Abstract: Introduction: The Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) has excellent biological property. However, its consistency makes it difficult to be inserted into retrograde cavities. Objective: To evaluate the ability of different methods to fill retrograde cavities with MTA. Material and methods: Root canals of thirty single-rooted resin teeth were prepared and filled. After the cut of 3 mm short of apical third, retrograde cavities with 3 mm deep were prepared using an ultrasound device and retrotips (CVD, S o José dos Campos, SP, Brazil). The retrograde preparation was evaluate by using an operative microscope (D.F. Vasconcellos, S o Paulo, SP, Brazil). The teeth were randomly divided into three groups (n = 10), according to the method: 1) condenser (Trinity, S o Paulo, SP, Brazil); 2) MTA applicator (Angelus, Londrina, Brazil) + condenser; 3) condenser associated with ultrasound (CVD, S o José dos Campos, SP, Brazil). After the filling of retrograde cavities with white MTA (Angelus, Londrina, Brazil), teeth were radiographed using a digital system (Kodak RVG 6000, Rochester, NY, USA). The images were analyzed by UTHSCSA Image Tool 3.0 software. The percentage of filling was calculated by the proportion between the total area of retrograde cavity and the filled area. The radiographic density mean of each third of retrograde cavity filled with MTA was measured by using the histogram tool of the software. The results were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey tests, with 5% of significance. Results: There was no difference in percentage of filling among the groups (p > 0.05) (approximately 85%). By comparing the thirds, the condenser and MTA applicator groups showed higher density for apical and middle third than cervical third (p < 0.05). The ultrasound group presented similar density among the thirds. Conclusion: The filling ability was similar for the studied methods. Ultrasound promoted better distribution of MTA in retrograde cavity, but did not increase the density of material.

Abstract: the employment of anaerobic digestion technology (biomethanation) for the management of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste is a reality that has been spreading out all around the world. the dry biomethanation, in particular, has been highlighted due to its biological system higher robustness and to the low generation of liquid effluents. in order to assess the dry biomethanation technologies performance, technical visits were carried out at different plants representing the major technologies available - valorga, laran, kompogas, and dranco - and, based on in situ observations as well as on projected performance data, it was developed an assessment methodology, composed by 35 indexes, divided into 4 groups: historic; operational aspects; projected performance; real performance. after all, the best performance was presented by technologies referred to as 4 and 2 that employs rectangular horizontal digesters stirred by impellers with axis across the flux of the digesting material.
