Advanced Localization of Mobile Terminal in Cellular Network  [PDF]
Marco ANISETTI, Claudio A. ARDAGNA, Valerio BELLANDI, Ernesto DAMIANI, Salvatore REALE
Int'l J. of Communications, Network and System Sciences (IJCNS) , 2008, DOI: 10.4236/ijcns.2008.11013
Abstract: The growing diffusion of pervasive collaboration environments and technical advancement of sensing technologies have fostered the development of a new wave of online services whose functionalities are based on users’ physical position. Thanks to the widespread diffusion of mobile devices (e.g. cell phones), many services can be greatly enriched with data reporting where people are, how they are moving, or whether they are close by specific locations. Geolocation of mobile terminals relies on the cellular network infrastructure and protocols to provide a reliable and accurate estimate of mobile terminals’ position, without the need of global positioning systems, such as GPS. In this paper, we present a novel lookup table correlation technique for geolocation, with multiple position estimations and optimal location techniques. Our approach provides high precise location and tracking of mobile terminals by exploiting advanced propagation models for mobile radio networks design, and by querying Geographical Information Systems (GIS), in conjunction with Kalman predictive filtering.
Web Service Assurance: The Notion and the Issues
Marco Anisetti,Claudio A. Ardagna,Ernesto Damiani,Fulvio Frati,Hausi A. Müller,Atousa Pahlevan
Future Internet , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/fi4010092
Abstract: Web service technology provides basic infrastructure for deploying collaborative business processes. Web Service security standards and protocols aim to provide secure communication and conversation between service providers and consumers. Still, for a client calling a Web service it is difficult to ascertain that a particular service instance satisfies—at execution time—specific non-functional properties. In this paper we introduce the notion of certified Web service assurance, characterizing how service consumers can specify the set of security properties that a service should satisfy. Also, we illustrate a mechanism to re-check non-functional properties when the execution context changes. To this end, we introduce the concept of context-aware certificate, and describe a dynamic, context-aware service discovery environment.
Machine-Readable Privacy Certificates for Services
Marco Anisetti,Claudio A. Ardagna,Michele Bezzi,Ernesto Damiani,Antonino Sabetta
Computer Science , 2013, DOI: 10.1007/978-3-642-41030-7_31
Abstract: Privacy-aware processing of personal data on the web of services requires managing a number of issues arising both from the technical and the legal domain. Several approaches have been proposed to matching privacy requirements (on the clients side) and privacy guarantees (on the service provider side). Still, the assurance of effective data protection (when possible) relies on substantial human effort and exposes organizations to significant (non-)compliance risks. In this paper we put forward the idea that a privacy certification scheme producing and managing machine-readable artifacts in the form of privacy certificates can play an important role towards the solution of this problem. Digital privacy certificates represent the reasons why a privacy property holds for a service and describe the privacy measures supporting it. Also, privacy certificates can be used to automatically select services whose certificates match the client policies (privacy requirements). Our proposal relies on an evolution of the conceptual model developed in the Assert4Soa project and on a certificate format specifically tailored to represent privacy properties. To validate our approach, we present a worked-out instance showing how privacy property Retention-based unlinkability can be certified for a banking financial service.
The Euro and Structural Reforms
Alberto Alesina,Silvia Ardagna,Vincenzo Galasso
Review of Economics and Institutions , 2011, DOI: 10.5202/rei.v2i1.24
Abstract: This paper investigates whether or not the adoption of the Euro has facilitated the introduction of structural reforms, defined as deregulation in the product markets and liberalization and deregulation in the labor markets. After reviewing the theoretical arguments that may link the adoption of the Euro and structural reforms, we investigate the empirical evidence. We find that the adoption of the Euro has been associated with an acceleration of the pace of structural reforms in the product market. The adoption of the Euro does not seem to have accelerated labor market reforms in the "primary labor market;" however, the run up to the Euro adoption seems to have been accompanied by wage moderation. We also investigate issues concerning the sequencing of goods and labor market reforms.
Ingestión accidental de imanes en ni?os y sus complicaciones: Un riesgo creciente
Cortés A,Claudio; Silva F,Claudio;
Revista médica de Chile , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0034-98872006001000016
Abstract: accidental ingestion of foreign bodies in childhood is an increasing problem. although many of them can be treated with an expectant approach, allowing their passage through the gastrointestinal tract, magnets must be extracted, due to their high rate of complications, such as perforation. we report three patients that ingested magnets. a five year-old male was operated with an extensive ulceration of the jejunum, where a cylindrical magnet was extracted. a four year-old female was operated with a perforation of the anterior wall of the stomach and three magnets were extracted from the peritoneal cavity. a four year-old female, was transferred from a hospital where she had been operated for a magnet ingestion that provoked three perforations in the small bowel

Princípios filosóficos e pedagógicos da educa??o natural em Rousseau: uma investiga??o sobre o segundo livro do émile
Dalbosco, Claudio A.;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302012000400011
Abstract: this paper rebuilds the content of two principles that characterize the project of natural education which is exposed by rousseau in émile's second book. it investigates basically two questions: what is the content of such principles? on what philosophical and pedagogical groundwork does rousseau support them? the first principle refers to the tensional distance of the human being as constructive of the infancy idea, and the second one embraces the negative character of natural education. the exposition of those principles intends to show how important it is that the adult protect the child in its initial development from the destructive invasion of vices and of the artificiality of society. thus, the hard and complex task of the educator may be atenuated as the principles on which the idea of natural education rests is clear for them.
íons carb?nio
Mota, Claudio J. A.;
Química Nova , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422000000300011
Abstract: carbonium ions are carbocations with a pentacoordinated carbon atom, where the electronic octet is maintained. they possess a three center two electron bond in order to keep the tetravalence of the carbon atom. this paper reviews the concept of carbonium ions, their formation, stability and reactions.
