Moreno M,Claudia;
Revista chilena de infectología , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-10182011000600009
Abstract: several parasitic diseases affect the skin and appendages in humans, the most common are head lice and scabies. both diseases have worldwide distribution with geographical variations. in chile, the reported prevalence of head lice is 20-25% and of scabies 1-5%. other ectoparasites include fleas and mite, causing transient parasitosis related to human and animal contact. these parasites are associated with various factors such as poor personal hygiene, promiscuity, long hair, crowding, and sharing of combs, among others. various effective pharmacological therapies are available, which base on several active compounds. important therapeutic options include topical treatments with pyrethroids, lindane, crotamiton, and malathion as well as oral medications such as ivermectin, which is used in case of drug intolerance, poor treatment response, infections with multiple parasites or concomitant bacterial infections. for some drugs, resistance has been reported in patients received multiple dosis.

URN: urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs0204142 This book summarizes ANGROSINO's participant observation of two decades of research and community service in a community house for individuals with mental retardation. The introduction provides a mirror of teaching oral history, participant observation and cultural narratives to students. In the following chapters the stories are organized by themes that present the lives, realities and daily-life experiences of individuals with mental retardation. The author contributes to the understanding of individuals with mental retardation from an insider and outsider perspectives in an attempt and to understand their humanity, feelings, and tribulations. The book gives voice to a population that has been silenced providing creative fiction that tells a story and protects the identity of those who want to be heard, the mentally retarded.

Stability properties of black holes in self-gravitating nonlinear electrodynamics
Claudia Moreno,Olivier Sarbach
Physics , 2002, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.67.024028
Abstract: We analyze the dynamical stability of black hole solutions in self-gravitating nonlinear electrodynamics with respect to arbitrary linear fluctuations of the metric and the electromagnetic field. In particular, we derive simple conditions on the electromagnetic Lagrangian which imply linear stability in the domain of outer communication. We show that these conditions hold for several of the regular black hole solutions found by Ayon-Beato and Garcia.
Gravitational Perturbations of the Kerr black hole due to arbitrary sources
Claudia Moreno,Dario Nunez
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1142/S0218271802002165
Abstract: We describe the Kerr black hole in the ingoing and outgoing Kerr-Schild horizon penetrating coordinates. Starting from the null vector naturally defined in these coordinates, we construct the null tetrad for each case, as well as the corresponding geometrical quantities allowing us to explicitly derive the field equations for the ${\Psi_0}^{(1)}$ and ${\Psi_4}^{(1)}$ perturbed scalar projections of the Weyl tensor, including arbitrary source terms. This perturbative description, including arbitrary sources, described in horizon penetrating coordinates is desirable in several lines of research on black holes, and contributes to the implementation of a formalism aimed to study the evolution of the space time in the region where two black holes are close.

True aneurysms of the femoral artery are a rare clinical problem and are generally published as a case report in the literature. Its presentation can be varied, and although most are asymptomatic, they may present with any of its complications. We present the case of a 85 years old patient with ruptured aneurysm of the left common femoral artery, who was admitted to the emergency room and underwent surgery successfully.
