When the Mind Affects the Heart  [PDF]
Cláudio Garcia Capit?o
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2015.616210
Abstract: This article aims to theoretically discuss the relationship between psychosomatic symptoms and heart diseases. It was used, as research technique, the narrative literature review, unsystematic, which consisted in presenting an open theme. Many authors point out the influence of the mind over the body—especially through emotions, psychic conflicts, stress—as responsible for, or adjuvants in the etiopathogenesis of many diseases. Emotions are acute emotional reactions triggered by external or internal stimuli, usually accompanied by neurodegenerative, visceral, hormonal and vascular somatic reactions. The conclusion is that heart diseases are multidetermined, influenced by environmental, organic and psychodynamic conditions.
Changes in Personality Caused by Neurocysticercosis  [PDF]
Cláudio Garcia Capit?o
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2016.71011
Abstract: This article aims to discuss theoretically changes in personality aspects caused by neurocysticercosis. An unsystematic narrative literature review aiming to present an open issue was used as research technique. Neurocysticercosis is a disease whose infestation usually depends on poor hygienic, health and education conditions. The infested patient has a lower self-esteem in addition to numerous psychological, medical and social consequences. It directly affects the ego, weakening the personality in its structure, which may cause a significant social and occupational deterioration or a deterioration of other important aspects of life.

Comércio internacional e finan?as: uma análise teórico-empírica
Lucinda, Cláudio Ribeiro;
Economia Aplicada , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502008000300004
Abstract: this paper aims to investigate the existence of a relationship between the institutional characteristics of the credit market of a country and its degree of specialization on trade of manufactures. in order to do so, we started by formally modeling this relationship. the empirical analysis, with brazilian sectoral data for the period between 1996 and 2000, we could observe a relationship between the demand for external financing and the degree of specialization in industrial products, in accordance to the theoretical development. this relationship holds even after our robustness tests, using instrumental variables, aimed at dealing with the problems of simultaneity and reverse causality.
O valor-trabalho como fundamento dos pre?os
Gontijo, Cláudio;
Economia e Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-06182009000300003
Abstract: this article shows that the law of value is axiomatic and constitutes the necessary foundation of the prices of production. giving up this foundation means to break with the self-found principle of science, to abandon the unifying principle of classical economics in favor of unsystematic theories based on ad hoc hypotheses and to give up on a general theory of market economies. the neo-ricardian proposal to determine prices and the profit rate directly from "technical coefficients" and the real wage omits the length of the working-day and the intensity of the labor process, concealing the sociologic contents of those variables.
O cuidado como conceito articulador de uma nova rela??o entre filosofia e pedagogia
Dalbosco, Cláudio Almir;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302006000400003
Abstract: the first part of this paper briefly rebuilds the situation of historical dependency of pedagogy: first on philosophy and later on science. it thus shows that one of the results of such a dependency has been to incorporate in the pedagogical speech universe the same trend, generally present in both the philosophical and the scientific speech, that objectivizes the human beings through their epistemologization or ethicization. its second part resorts to heidegger's thought in being and time and his criticism of classical metaphysics and modern science in order to establish a productive conceptual arsenal for pedagogy so that it may rethink itself. in spite of all the theoretical hardships intrinsic to the project of extracting pedagogical deployments from this work, the concept of care (sorge) as a structurally articulated threefold dimension composes the leading thread of this arsenal.
Da press?o disciplinada à obriga??o moral: esbo?o sobre o significado e o papel da pedagogia no pensamento de Kant
Dalbosco, Cláudio Almir;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302004000400012
Abstract: this papers shows that kant conceived pedagogy as one of the forms to realize his practical philosophy. it first offers a general characterization of some central aspects of kant's practical philosophy. it then advocates the idea that the concept of discipline has a central role in the mediation between the pedagogical convictions and the kantian morals.
Determina??o racional da vontade humana e educa??o natural em Rousseau
Dalbosco, Cláudio Almir;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022007000100009
Abstract: this article seeks to show, with the help of an analytical-reconstructive work, that at the basis of rousseau's "secular argument" about the origin of human evil, developed in book iv of the emile, lies a theory of the rational determination of the will that oscillates between the concepts of conscience and reason. by the expression "secular argument" is understood here the fact that rousseau no longer sees the origin of evil in a strange force, or in the singular individual, but in society itself. the present text attempts to clarify also that, despite this vacillation, such theory becomes decisive in the outline of a project of natural education offered by that author to his imaginary pupil in the emile. since his character is constituted in the intertwining of social relations, no alternative is left to emile but to try to educate himself in the social exchange, notwithstanding the permanent risk of being corrupted by society. because the outline of the theory of the rational determination of human will is closely associated with the drafts of social and anthropological theories also put forward by rousseau in the emile, he must also enlist arguments for the confrontation, through a work of education of the selfish tendency of the amour-propre, with the realization of otherness that comes from the human sociability, aiming at recovering the feeling of amour de soi-même in the social exchange.
No governo dos mundos: escravid?o, contextos coloniais e administra??o de popula??es
Pinheiro, Cláudio C.;
Estudos Afro-Asiáticos , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-546X2002000300001
Abstract: being one of the most powerful of the modern era, the portuguese colonial empire has established colonies and possessions in several continents. controlling large regions, it has administrated commercial connections, products? trades and people between these places. as a consequence, it had to deal with different population groups. during this process, a huge knowledge was achieved when trying to define government patterns for these populations, which were somehow added to the empire. among these groups there were "exiled people", "heathens", "indians" etc.; certainly one of the most important groups (demographic and symbolically) were the "slaves". this article observes how many of these groups were formed as groups in different social-geographic contexts (especially rio de janeiro and goa) because of the territorial administration and social experiences performed by these populations? "government" during the exercise of power according to the empyreal policy. this way, the author is starting from this démarche to introduce the perspective of how the (modern) idea of slave, day-by-day built by the portuguese colonial empire, darkened different ways of living in captivity - different ways of compulsory labor, which could be found in some colonies.
Contributions of Jayme Luiz Szwarcfiter to graph theory and computer science
Lucchesi, Cláudio Leonardo;
Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-65002001000200003
Abstract: this is an account of jayme's contributions to graph theory and computer science. due to restrictions in length, it is not possible to provide an in-depth coverage of every aspect of jayme's extensive scientific activities. thus, i describe in detail only some of his principal contributions, touch upon some and merely list the other articles. i found it easier to write the article in the first person, as though it is an account of a previously given lecture.
