Effective and Efficient Similarity Index for Link Prediction of Complex Networks

Abstract: Predictions of missing links of incomplete networks like protein-protein interaction networks or very likely but not yet existent links in evolutionary networks like friendship networks in web society can be considered as a guideline for further experiments or valuable information for web users. In this paper, we introduce a local path index to estimate the likelihood of the existence of a link between two nodes. We propose a network model with controllable density and noise strength in generating links, as well as collect data of six real networks. Extensive numerical simulations on both modeled networks and real networks demonstrated the high effectiveness and efficiency of the local path index compared with two well-known and widely used indices, the common neighbors and the Katz index. Indeed, the local path index provides competitively accurate predictions as the Katz index while requires much less CPU time and memory space, which is therefore a strong candidate for potential practical applications in data mining of huge-size networks.
Adaptive information filtering for dynamic recommender systems

Abstract: The dynamic environment in the real world calls for the adaptive techniques for information filtering, namely to provide real-time responses to the changes of system data. Where many incremental algorithms are designed for this purpose, they are usually challenged by the worse and worse performance resulted from the cumulative errors over time. In this Letter, we propose two incremental diffusion-based algorithms for the personalized recommendations, which integrate some pieces of local and fast updatings to achieve the approximate results. In addition to the fast responses, the errors of the proposed algorithms do not cumulate over time, that is to say, the global recomputing is unnecessary. This remarkable advantage is demonstrated by several metrics on algorithmic accuracy for two movie recommender systems and a social bookmarking system.
Collaborative filtering based on multi-channel diffusion

Abstract: In this paper, by applying a diffusion process, we propose a new index to quantify the similarity between two users in a user-object bipartite graph. To deal with the discrete ratings on objects, we use a multi-channel representation where each object is mapped to several channels with the number of channels being equal to the number of different ratings. Each channel represents a certain rating and a user having voted an object will be connected to the channel corresponding to the rating. Diffusion process taking place on such a user-channel bipartite graph gives a new similarity measure of user pairs, which is further demonstrated to be more accurate than the classical Pearson correlation coefficient under the standard collaborative filtering framework.
Effect of TiN Addition on the Microstructure and Performance of MoS2-based Composite Films

Abstract: MoSx-TiN composite films were prepared by magnetron reaction-sputtering. The effect of small amount of TiN on the microstructure and performance of MoS2 -based film was studied. The structure and properties of films were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and UMT-2 multi-functional tribometer. Experimental results indicated that, compared with pure MoS2 film, MoSx-TiN composite film had a stronger preferential orientation of crystal plane (002) and a compact microstructure. The MoSx-TiN composite film exhibited better tribological properties than that of pure MoS2 and MoS2-Ti films in humid air at room temperature.

Abstract: Communication over wireless links identifies significant challenges for routing protocols operating. This paper proposes a Cross-layer design based Multipath Routing Protocol (CMRP) for mobile ad hoc networks, by means of the node energy signal from the physical layer. The purpose is to optimize routing decision and path quality. The nodes’ mobility behavior is predicted using a notion of “Signal Fading Degree, SFD”. Especially, in combination of the IEEE 802.11e standard at the MAC layer, we determine that the IEEE 802.11e makes a significant contribution to performance improvement of CMRP. Performance evaluation of AODV in legacy 802.11 and CMRP in IEEE 802.11e shows that, as a function of speed of node mobility, a tremendous reduction achieved, in metrics such as the average end-to-end delay, route overhead, route discovery frequency, normalized routing load - almost more than 80%, 40%, 40%, and 40%. In the case of varying number of sessions, the reduction for route discovery frequency and normalized routing load are up to 70% and 80%.
Influence of Water Injection Fracturing on Crack Damage in Soft Coal and Application in Gas Extraction  [PDF]

In order to study the hypotonic and rheological particularity of “three soft” coal seam in west Henan, China, this paper explored the stress and damage characteristics of crack in coal under condition of water injection fracturing based on ABAQUS platform; The cohesive element in T-P damage evolution criterion was used to describe the approximately linear relationship between crack width and extending distance in soft coal. The simulation results show that stress evolution and crack damage in soft coal is a gradually developing process under condition of water injection fracturing. When the static pressure is 4 - 10 MPa, and the injection time is about 1 - 2 hours, the damage range of crack in soft coal can basically reach an ideal data of 80 - 100 m, and then greatly improve the hypotonic performance of “three soft” coal seam.

Abstract: 计算机控制光学表面技术(Computer Controlled Optical Surfacing,CCOS)是加工离轴非球面的一项重要技术。小磨头抛光的边缘效应严重制约CCOS技术的加工精度和加工效率。在获得影响边缘效应的关键参数后,结合残余误差等高线的路径规划,对CCOS产生的边缘效应产生的翘边现象进行修正;通过对一块体育场形离轴非球面的加工,获得了全口径光学测量数据,为后续精加工提供面形基础。
CCOS (Computer Controlled Optical Surfacing) is an important technology for off-axis aspheric surface processing. Edge effect of small tool manufacturing restricts the machining precision and efficiency of CCOS technology. After the key parameters of edge effect were obtained, the warping edge effect of CCOS combined with the residual error trace contour path planning was corrected. The full aperture optical measurement data of a stadium off-axis aspheric is achieved by processing, which provides the fundament for subsequent finishing.

Abstract: We point out that the axino predicted as the supersymmetric partner of the axion is a good candidate for the recently proposed sterile neutrino cool dark matter. The axino mass falls into the right range in the context of gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking. A sizable mixing of the axino with active neutrinos arises when R-parity violation is allowed and the resulting neutrino masses and mixing accommodate the atmospheric and solar neutrino oscillations simultaneously.
