Abstract: A criterion of the metastable extension of solid solubility was proposed.When the eutecticconcentration arm ratio parameter of an alloy,J>10,the hypereutectic extension and themetastable solid solubility limit beyond eutectic concentration may be obtained.When J≤10,the hypoeutectic extension may be obtained.The extension parameter,C_(eq)~s/C_(cu),is directlyproportional to the parameter J.Thus,it seems easy to predict the tendency of the solid solu-hility extension under rapid solidification on the basis of the eutectic phase diagram.

Abstract: Effect of increasing content of Ti on the crystalline-to-amorphous transition in alloy filmof stainless steel 321 plus Ti synthesized by high rate magnetron sputtering deposition isreported.X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the microstructure of film was sequentlychanged from α-Fe,α-Fe-X-phase,microcrystalline+amorphous into amorphous withincreasing content of Ti fiom 0—3,3—10,10—18 and 18—30 wt-% respectively.

Abstract: The regularity and mechanism of the microplastic deformation of steel 1Cr18Ni9Ti both solu- tion-treated and prestrained were investigated.In the different stages of microplastic deformation,stage 1 corresponds to the dislocation moving and exhausting in the regions near grain boundaries.Stage 2,being the early stage of macroplastic deformation,corresponds to the extensive operation and generation of dislocations in the interior of grains and also dislo- cation emission from the grain boundaries.The regularities of the effect of prestrain on macro-and micro-yield strength are different.

Abstract: The phase diagrams of binary systems SmCl_3-CaCl_2 and SmCl_3-LiCl were determined byDTA and X-ray diffraction analysis.The system SmCl_3-CaCl_2 is of a simple eutectic typewith eutectic point of 55.8mol-% SmCl_3 at 545℃.The system SmCl_3-LiCl is of the typewith incongruent melting phase 2SmCl_3·LiCl at peritectic point 434℃ and with eutecticpoint of 31.5 mol-% SmCl_3 at 395℃.

Abstract: A special method based on the local equilibrium principle has been introduced in the research of the phase diagram of Mn-MnO system.With this method,the problems of volatilization of Mn and the corrosion of Mn and MnO to refractory materials were prevented efficiently.The solubility of oxygen in Mn and the composition of the interface between MnO and Mn were determined.Partial phase diagram of Mn-MnO system were constructed according to pres- ent experimental results.

Abstract: The work hardening of Hadfield manganese steel arises mainly form two causes;1)a large amount of twinning makes perfect dislocations or Shockley dislocations to be blocked at the coherent twin boundaries.2)the deformation leads to strong unsymmetrical distortion due to the occurrence of a large number gf Mn-C pairs or Mn-vacancy carbon-carbon cluster.It has been demonstrated by TEM observation and internal friction tests.As deformation pro- ceeds,the slip constantly accomodates twinning shear giving rise to stress relaxation.Thus, the Hadfield steel exhibits both rapid work hardening and good ductility.

Abstract: The critical _d vahues ( _ ) of the γ/(γ+σ).γ/(γ+μ) and γ/(γ+γ') phase boundaries insome ternar alloy phase diagrams at various temperatures are calculated by averaging the _d values of sererai selected characteristic points at the phase boundaries.Approxmateequations for the temperature dependence of the critical _d of γ/(γ+σ).γ/(γ+μ) andγ/(γ+γ') phase boundaries are established.The accuracy of the analysis is discussed in detail.It is found for the first time that the average value of the bondorder _ at the phase boundaries ts also approximatelr a constant and therefore a criticalaverage bond order _ like - can be introduced for the analysts of phase stability

Abstract: Effect of carbon content of steel substrate,on the chemical vapour deposition(CVD)ofTiN has been investigated.The increment of deposition rate is linearly related to the increaseof carbon content in own substrate.The α-Fe peak,besides TiN,is revealed in X-raydiffraction pattern of TiN coating.The(220)preferred growth of TiN deposited on steelCr12MoV substrate increases with the increase of depositing temperature.Only Ti energyspectrum was found from the bright region at coating surface and the interior,while bothTi and Fe energy spectra from dark region.

Abstract: Equilibrium equation of point defects in Ll_2 type intermetallic compounds was established tocalculate the relations of the concentration of antisite defects and vacancies and bulk composi-tion in Ni_3Al.The examination of temperature effects on the point defects cleared up the mis.understanding of the properties of the“constitutional point defects”in Ni_3Al.

Abstract: A study was carried out on the formation of Ti(C,N) during smelting vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite in blast furnace and the influence of MnO content on reduction of TiO_2 in the slag containing high titania. The reduction of TiO_2 is restricted by MnOpredominantly at the slag-metal interface and no more at the slag-coke one. The formation of Ti(C,N) is remarkably restricted by MnO in the slag when the MnO content is about 4% and the basicity from 0.6 to 1.2 in the slag. MnO may also retards the reduction of SiO_2 and accelerates the desulphidation under certain condition.
