Abstract: A criterion of the metastable extension of solid solubility was proposed.When the eutecticconcentration arm ratio parameter of an alloy,J>10,the hypereutectic extension and themetastable solid solubility limit beyond eutectic concentration may be obtained.When J≤10,the hypoeutectic extension may be obtained.The extension parameter,C_(eq)~s/C_(cu),is directlyproportional to the parameter J.Thus,it seems easy to predict the tendency of the solid solu-hility extension under rapid solidification on the basis of the eutectic phase diagram.

Abstract: A special method based on the local equilibrium principle has been introduced in the research of the phase diagram of Mn-MnO system.With this method,the problems of volatilization of Mn and the corrosion of Mn and MnO to refractory materials were prevented efficiently.The solubility of oxygen in Mn and the composition of the interface between MnO and Mn were determined.Partial phase diagram of Mn-MnO system were constructed according to pres- ent experimental results.

Abstract: The work hardening of Hadfield manganese steel arises mainly form two causes;1)a large amount of twinning makes perfect dislocations or Shockley dislocations to be blocked at the coherent twin boundaries.2)the deformation leads to strong unsymmetrical distortion due to the occurrence of a large number gf Mn-C pairs or Mn-vacancy carbon-carbon cluster.It has been demonstrated by TEM observation and internal friction tests.As deformation pro- ceeds,the slip constantly accomodates twinning shear giving rise to stress relaxation.Thus, the Hadfield steel exhibits both rapid work hardening and good ductility.

Abstract: Effect of carbon content of steel substrate,on the chemical vapour deposition(CVD)ofTiN has been investigated.The increment of deposition rate is linearly related to the increaseof carbon content in own substrate.The α-Fe peak,besides TiN,is revealed in X-raydiffraction pattern of TiN coating.The(220)preferred growth of TiN deposited on steelCr12MoV substrate increases with the increase of depositing temperature.Only Ti energyspectrum was found from the bright region at coating surface and the interior,while bothTi and Fe energy spectra from dark region.

Abstract: Creep behavior of Fe-15Cr-25Ni alloys with different grain boundary features has been in-vestigated at 850 and 950℃ and in stress range of 14.7~78.5 MPa.The single phase alloyexhibits typical recovery creep characteristics,and for the alloy in which M_(23)C_6 carbidesdensely precipitate at grain boundaries,the creep rate dramatically decreases and creep behav-ior is also significantly different from the single phase alloy.When the carbides precipitate atgrain boundaries,the dislocation density are higher and the size of subgrains near grainboundaries are smaller than those of single phase alloy.The creep mechanisms for two grainboundary features have been discussed.

Abstract: The desulphurizing reaction of the blast furnace low titania slag under the condition of no external agitation is confirmed to be of a first order. The controlling step is the diffusion of S in slag. The measures to accelerate the rate of desulfurization are approached.

Abstract: The thermal crack of the train vehicle wheel is believed to be rela-ted mainly to its carbon content and hardness. The wear rate of wheel tread isinfluenced by fracture toughness of the new martensitic "white layer" while thecomposition shoes applying. A 55SiMn steel wheel of resistance to thermal crackand wear has been developed with remarkable feasibility in usual run.

Abstract: The nature of the oxygen contained in β-W was investigated with DSC,X-ray analysis onquenched samples and Auger spectroscope.It was shown that the oxygen contained innonpyrophoric β-W consists of the reversibly chemisorbed oxygen and the interstitial oxygenwhich could form an interstitial solid solution with β-W.It seems better to consider β-W tobe a metastable phase of tungsten with the interstitial oxygen as stabilizer.

Abstract: Melted cast iron was inoculated by FeSi,then quenched to interrupt the dissolution, the non-metallic inclusions,in which the graphite phase was already occured,formed in the dissolution region,They dissolved into the melt soon,but the inclusions coated by graphite could exist for along time.The function of inoculant is to create an undercooling solution for carbon,thereby the non-metallic inclusions in the solution may be activated as the nuclei for graphite.
