A Substrate-and-Gate Triggering NMOS Device for High ESD Reliability in Deep Submicrometer Technology

Abstract: A substrate-and-gate triggering scheme which utilizes dynamic threshold principle is proposed for an ESD NMOS structure. This scheme enhances the device reliability performance in terms of higher second breakdown current and both reduced holding voltage/triggering voltage as well as elimination of gate over driven effect. The simple resistance and RC substrate-and-gate triggering NMOS structure with various resistance/capacitance values totally exhibit superior ESD reliability than the gate-grounded NMOS (GGNMOS) devices by 18~29%. The substrate-and-gate triggering scheme in combination with special substrate pickup styles also shows excellent enhancement when compared with the GGNMOS cases of the same pickup styles. The substrate-and-gate triggering NMOS with butting substrate pickup style is better than the general butting case by 28~30%, whereas the substrate-and-gate triggering NMOS with inserted substrate pickup style is 3.5 times superior to the general inserted case. 1. Introduction Electrostatic discharge (ESD) issue has become a more serious device reliability problem in semiconductor components and systems. An NMOSFET has been the most popular ESD protection candidate for a long time. Since the shrinking of device size advances continually, the ESD capability of the NMOS device encounters more challenges [1–7]. A gate-grounded NMOS (GGNMOS) can no longer satisfy the ESD protection mission easily. ESD NMOS protection devices usually need the large width size to deal with ESD events. This results in multifinger layout style which is commonly used in practical IC I/O area. But it also has a critical drawback which is not favorable for the ESD protection requirement. The conduction current is usually unevenly distributed along the width direction of the multifingers. Gate-coupling technique using the property that increases the gate bias can reduce the first trigger point of the NMOS device and enable uniform ESD current distribution [4, 8, 9]. Although gate-coupling technique can improve the ESD capability, it still has gate overdriven effect if the gate voltage coupled is much larger than its threshold voltage, and this leads to serious ESD degradation. Furthermore, inserted or butting substrate pickups in the source diffusion region of the ESD NMOS device in deep submicrometer technology also degraded ESD reliability seriously. Abstract: This study is mainly to cope with the problems when a firm faces time-varying demand and receives product from a single supplier who faces random supply. The supplier`s availability may be affected by events such as natural disasters, labor strikes, manufacturing defects, machine breakdowns, or other events. A model is proposed in this research that considers a dynamic production-inventory environment: the exponential distribution of disruption, as well as the demand can be time dependent. The model explains production-inventory as a NP-hard problem, which using genetic algorithms is developed to minimize the average total cost to determinate the production cycles under various ordering policies. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a numerical study has been conducted to compare the ordering policies under various demands in an extensive order. Based on the computational result, it can be seen that the optimal ordering policy not only should strike a balance between protecting against stockouts during disruptions but also maintaining low inventory levels of finished products and raw materials.
Multi-Agent Conflict Coordination Using Game Bargain

Abstract: For many years, researchers in both economics and policymaking have used various practices to achieve Nash Equilibrium values in Game Theory applications. Our approach is innovative in that we have combined the Multi-Agent Method with these concepts and designed a cooperative strategy for the multi-agent model constructed on the lines of ordinal utility used in economics. It is not designed for finding specific values, but instead is intended to discover the best strategic choices that will be acceptable to all parties participating in the game. The participants can input their strategies into the system from their network to handle conflict coordination problems. We also designed a corresponding method of finding solutions when other agents of conflict resolution fail. The agent mechanism not only enhances effectiveness in finding equilibrium solutions, but it also resolves the dilemmas formed when the cycle cannot be solved by playing strategic games. The present system dramatically shortens the time required for finding solutions within the game, enhances the effectiveness of devising cooperative strategies and offers as output the maximum strategic combination of payoffs obtainable by both companies.

Abstract: The tourism in Miaoli has been in great development recently. The wonderful scenery and other potential conditions have sufficient incentives to attract tourists. Though there is such a huge touristeconomic market, most tourist service providers are unfortunately not able to integrate the information technology and the tourist services effectively. Therefore, we guide the tourism industry “Case CompanyA” to put our research results into practice to help the traditional farm “Case Company B” proceed a overall improvement and build a brand new commercial image. The embedded technology is used to set the leisure and hospitality information system into its existing website to make market segmentation. And the Flash and AJAX technologies are applied to build a Miaoli Virtual Reality Traveling Guide Websiteto make “B” an E-leisure farm with competitive advantages. With the information technology, we expect to offer abundant information of the leisure farm to people. The online journey planning function coupled with the animation design and real images of the journey makes visitors be immediately attracted by the beauty of the scenery, lots of mouth-watering cuisines, local cultural activities, etc. and thus the purpose of tourism development will be achieved.
Electroluminescence from Strained Ge membranes and Implications for an Efficient Si-Compatible Laser

Abstract: We demonstrate room-temperature electroluminescence (EL) from light-emitting diodes (LED) on highly strained germanium (Ge) membranes. An external stressor technique was employed to introduce a 0.76% bi-axial tensile strain in the active region of a vertical PN junction. Electrical measurements show an on-off ratio increase of one order of magnitude in membrane LEDs compared to bulk. The EL spectrum from the 0.76% strained Ge LED shows a 100nm redshift of the center wavelength because of the strain-induced direct band gap reduction. Finally, using tight-binding and FDTD simulations, we discuss the implications for highly efficient Ge lasers.
Strategic Analysis and Model Construction on Conflict Resolution with Motion Game Theory

Abstract: This research uses the “Participating Observation Method” to observe the interaction between manufacturer and distributor negotiation strategies, determine the preference and expectation of participants, and establish a framework for this type of research. Then it sets up the “analysis framework of negotiation strategies” between the manufacturer and the distributor based on an analysis of the respective conditions, advantages, and disadvantages of the manufacturer and distributor. Thirdly, this study sets up a reward matrix of the strategy action game between the manufacturer and the distributor. Then establishes a set of feasible “negotiation models” based on the reward matrix of the strategy game between the both parties to observe how the manufacturer and the distributor make their own bargaining decisions in the situation of information asymmetry or exterior opportunity/threat. Finally, this study establishes a “multi-agent strategy game protocol system model” to solve the conflict resulting from the self-strategizing of both parties for their own interests, and to achieve the utmost efficiency in the negotiation.

Abstract: In recent years, with the pace of technological development, people have become more and more demanding in terms of quality of life. At the same time the restaurant industry has become one of the largest industries in the world. To follow international trends and development in the restaurant business in Taiwan, various types of theme restaurants and cafes have emerged. Needless to saycompetition is intense. In such an environment, raising service quality and management performance are the foremost goals; informatization is the key to these goals. A restaurant information system is the digital nervous system of restaurant management, containing all the relevant processes. Management can understand operational conditions through a restaurant information system and respond to them. They can become aware of competitor challenges or customer needs and then formulate strategies accordingly. A restaurant information system combines software and hardware; it provides restaurant management with precise, direct, and abundant information, which can enhance insight and productivity.This study developed a restaurant information system aimed at online restaurant services and information management. Combined with a parking management system and GPS navigating technology, this powerful system applies object-oriented techniques; the extensibility of object-oriented systems allows integration with different information system cores, providing diversified management and new informational services. Functions can be easily extended, increasing the flexibility of the system. This information system can enhance competition, create overall advantage, and increase operationalefficiency and performance.
Multi-Quality Prediction Model of CNC Turning Using Back-Propagation Network

Abstract: In this study, the four cutting parameters (cutting depth, feed rate, speed and tool nose runoff) with three levels (low, medium and high) are selected to determined the 34 = 81 sets of full experimental combinations. The ECOCA-PC3807 CNC lathe is utilized to diameter finishing turn the S45C. The surface roughness (Ra), tool wear ratio (μm-2) and cutting force are additionally measured as quality objectives. The BPN is moreover introduced to learn the selected 45 sets of experimental results. The remaining 36 sets of experimental results are furthermore used to verify and construct a multiple quality predictor of CNC turning. Considering the learning rate as 1 and momentum factor as 0.5, the results of 4000 times of BPN training through a hidden layer indicated that the prediction of surface roughness reached 95.87% of accuracy, the quality objective of tool wear ratio reached 94.32% of accuracy, the quality of cutting force reached 92.29% accuracy and the overall prediction accuracy of the multiple quality process predictor could reach 94.16%. The results not only provide the CNC turning operations with an economic and prospective multiple quality analytic method but also establish machining references for CNC turning industry with profound insight. Under the considerations of multiple qualities, this study definitely explored, expanded and realized the prediction mechanism and values of cutting parameters.
An Intelligent Demand Forecasting Model with Back Propagation Neural Network for Fish Product

Abstract: Taiwan joined the WTO since 2000, five years later the agricultural and fishing products can be freely imported. Faced with such a shock, how to reduce the production cost of agricultural or fishery products would be an important issue. In the low-profit era, production costs often affect the operation of enterprises in an important factor. In particular, the production cost of agricultural and fishing products, particularly significant. The operating personnel need spend much capital on the stock of goods in the traditional fish industry. However, the price of fish product is changing daily based on the supply and demand in the market. The operating personnel can buy at low price and achieve the objective of short-term stock according to the short-term demand if the information technology can be used to assist them to forecast the demand in the future. It can not only increase the profit, but also enable the backward customer get the fresh fish product with low price and assist them to reduce the material cost. Therefore, this study has the back-propagation neural network predict. Enterprises using case history of each fishery products, orders goods sales records forecast future purchases. Establishing the future order prediction model in fisheries products, in order to achieve the purpose of reducing production costs and enhance their competitiveness.
Dynamic Material Removal Rate and Tool Replacement Optimization with Calculus of Variations

Abstract: This study mathematically presents an optimum material removal control model, where the Material Removal Rate (MRR) is comprehensively introduced, to accomplish the dynamic machining control and tool life determination of a cutting tool under an expected machining quantity. To resolve the incessant cutting-rate control problem, Calculus of Variations is implemented for the optimum solution. Additionally, the decision criteria for selecting the dynamic solution are suggested and the sensitivity analyses for key variables in the optimal solution are fully discussed. The versatility of this study is furthermore exemplified through a numerical illustration from the real-world industry with BORLAND C++ BUILDER. It is shown that the theoretical and simulated results are in good agreement. This study absolutely explores the very promising solution to dynamically organize the MRR in minimizing the machining cost of a cutting tool for the contemporary machining industry.
