Abstract: Gastroretentive dosage forms (GRDF) enable prolonged and continuous input of the drug to the upper parts of the gastrointestinal tract and improve the bioavailability of medications those are characterized by a narrow absorption window. The aim of this study was first to develop and physico-chemically characterize an optimal single unit bilayer floating tablet for Carvedilol phosphate (CP) prepared by direct compression technology secondly use Ocimum basilicum mucilage (OBM) as a gelling, swelling and sustaining polymer in combination with HPMC and compared their drug release profile with marketed sustained release formulation for once-a-day administration of Carvedilol. Effect of OBM and its concentration on tablet properties such as hardness, friability, floating characteristics, swelling properties, tablet erosion and release patterns were evaluated. The release rate and floating characteristics could effectively be modified by varying ‘‘matrix forming swelling polymer, gas-generating agent’’ ratio. Drug release in optimized formulation was approximately 93.80% in 24 h in vitro and floating lag time around 5 min. The results showed floating tablets are a feasible approach for the sustained release (SR) preparation of CP.

Abstract: Two hydrophobic polymers Eudragit RL 100 and Eudragit RS 100 were used for preparing sustained release lamivudine tablet. In this study the effect of the thermal and solvent treatment on drug release, tensile strength was studied. Increasing the sintering duration increase in the sustained release and also increase in hardness of tablet. FTIR, XRD and DSC study shows no chemical interaction between drug and polymer and no polymorphic changes in drug due to sintering. SEM analysis conformed the redistribution of polymer and smoother tablet. The solvent treatment gives more sustained release of drug compare to thermal treatment.

Abstract: The purpose of this review is to explore the difficulties in penetration of drug across nail plate & enhancement of bioavailability of antifungal drug. The existing clinical evidence suggests that a key to successful treatment of fungal diseases by topical antifungal product lies in ineffectively overcoming the nail barrier.Current topical treatments have limited therapeutic effectiveness possibly because they can not sufficiently penetrate in the nail plate to transport a therapeutically sufficient quantity of antifungal drug to the target sites to eradicate the protection. Also the analysis of the drug's penetration is a difficult task .Here in the present article a method to analyse the drug permeated across nail barrier is suggested.

Abstract: The wireless sensor networks (WSN) are formed by a large number of sensor nodes working together to provide a specific duty. However, the low energy capacity assigned to each node prompts users to look at an important design challenge such as lifetime maximization. Therefore, designing effective routing techniques that conserve scarce energy resources is a critical issue in WSN. Though, the chain-based routing is one of significant routing mechanisms but several common flaws, such as data propagation delay and redundant transmission, are associated with it. In this paper, we will be proposing an energy efficient technique based on graph theory that can be used to find out minimum path based on some defined conditions from a source node to the destination node. Initially, a sensor area is divided into number of levels by a base station based on signal strength. It is important to note that this technique will always found out minimum path and even alternate path are also saved in case of node failure.

Abstract: Better Brick Nepal (BBN) works under the larger NGO, Global Fairness Initiatives, to promote the reliably sourced brick manufacturing by eliminating forced, bonded labor, and child labor, promoting workplace safety and health, providing fair wages, and preventing workplace harassment. The brick industry is regarded as the second largest source for air pollution after vehicle emissions in Kathmandu Valley. The brick kiln workers who live on the kiln premises in huts are highly exposed to both indoor and outdoor air pollution. This study reviewed the practices of BBN kilns that adhere to recommended standards for worker rights, health and safety. An NGO such as BBN is proving successful at eliminating inhumane work practices and in improving brick kiln worker health and safety.

Abstract: Schwannoma is a relatively uncommon, slow-growing benign tumor that is derived apparently from the Schwann cells lining the nerve sheath. The schwannoma is usually a solitary lesion, and can be multiple when associated with neurofibromatosis. A case of 40-year-old women with a swelling in her mid-portion of the lower lip is presented. The diagnosis was established based on clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical aspects.
