Protein Globule Formation in the Liver Graft during Cold Preservation for Liver Transplantation: Its Clinical and Pathological Significance  [PDF]

Abstract:

In liver transplantation, liver graft ischemia-reperfusion injury occurs mainly due to cold preservation and warm reperfusion. In this research, we study the affection of plasma protein of the donor on liver graft during cold preservation and warm reperfusion. In this study, 34 liver transplantations were performed from 2007 to 2010, and the clinical data were collected retrospectively from the Dongfang Hospital database. 34 specimens were harvested from 34 liver grafts when graft trimming as Group A and 34 specimens harvested from the same 34 liver grafts during liver transplantation surgery but before abdominal closure as B group. All liver tissue specimens were fixed with 40 g/L neutral formalin, embedded in paraffin. Light microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Periodic Acid-Schiff (PAS) stain and immunohistochemical stain of IgG, IgM, IgA, C3d, C4d, Fib, C1q, and CD61 were used. In this study, we found that eosinophilic bodies emerged in liver lobes during liver transplantation which had not been reported previously in the literature. 1) Protein globules were found exclusively in liver graft specimens. The globules were round or oval with sharp edges, measured approximately 1.59 to 9.41 μm in diameter, and were scattered in the liver sinusoids or space of Disse or hepatocyte cytoplasm, were stained with IgG, IgM, IgA, Fib, C3d by immunohistochemical staining; 2) There was no statistical significant difference of protein globules number between A group and B group (P > 0.05); 3) IRI score of B group was not correlated with protein globules number (P > 0.05). Protein globules contain plasma composition, and may form during cold preservation.

The Main Determinant of English Sentences Comprehension by Chinese EFL Learners: The Verb or the Construction?  [PDF]

Abstract:

Using the self-paced reading, this paper investigated the role of verbs or constructions when Chinese EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners try to understand an English sentence. Previous researches on the main determinant in English sentences comprehension had two different views. Healy and Miller (1970) held that the verb is the main determinant of sentence meaning, while Bencini and Goldberg (2000) held that the construction is directly associated with sentence meaning. However, studies from English as a second language may provide a clue of the main determinant of English sentence meaning. The paper classified English resultatives into four types: the Subcategorized Object Resultative, the Non-subcategorized Object Resultative, the Fake Reflexive Resultative and the No Object Resultative. The paper investigated high-level Chinese English learners’ understanding of the English resultative constructions which have the same surface structure but different deep structures (the first three types). The result showed that the acquisition of subcategorized object resultatives is better than non-subcategorized object resultatives. Therefore, this paper argues that although the construction has a suppressing impact on the verb, the basic determinant of English sentences comprehension by Chinese EFL learners is the verb.

Component Carrier Selection and Beamforming on Carrier Aggregated Channels in Heterogeneous Networks  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, component carrier selection and beamforming on carrier aggregated channels in Heterogeneous Networks are proposed. The scheme jointly selects the component carrier and precoding (i.e. beamforming) vectors with the cooperation of the other cells to deal with the interference between Macro cell and Pico cell. The component carrier selection and beamforming is achieved by optimizing the multi-cell downlink throughput. This optimization results in shutting down a subset of the component carrier in order to allow for a perfect interference removal at the receive side in the dense low power node deployment scenario. Additionally, algorithm based on Branch and Bound Method is used to reduce the search complexity of the algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can achieve high cell-average and cell-edge throughput for the Pico cell in the Heterogeneous Networks.
Large-Scale Growth of Tubular Aragonite Whiskers through a MgCl2-Assisted Hydrothermal Process

Abstract: In this paper, we have developed a facile MgCl 2-assissted hydrothermal synthesis route to grow tubular aragonite whiskers on a large scale. The products have been characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy, and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). The results show the as-grown product is pure tubular aragonite crystalline whiskers with a diameter of 5–10 mm and a length of 100–200 mm, respectively. The concentration of Mg 2+ plays an important role in determining the quality and purity of the products. Furthermore, the method can be extended to fabricate CaSO 4 fibers. The high quality of the product and the mild conditions used mean that the present route has good prospects for the growth of inorganic crystalline whiskers.

The implement of the algorithm is simple, so less computation work is needed. The algorithm has certain convergence.

Abstract: Wavefront curvature defocus effects can occur when Polar Formatting Algorithin(PFA)is used to reconstruct the SAR image. The traditional approach to this situation is simply to limit the size of the scene reconstructed. From the aspect of super-resolution, it is demonstrated in this paper that by accurate estimation and post compensation of the space-variant Quadratic Phase Errors(QPEs), super-resolution image and target features can still be obtained in the presence of wavefront curvature effects. The estimate of QPEs is roughly obtained by use of the Discrete Polynomial-Phase Transform(DPT), then it is refined by a RELAX-based parametric estimation method. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: Super resolution Algorithms can be used to obtain high resolution in ISAR imaging. But in the case of maneuvering target,the Doppler frequency of received signal scattered by target will not be constant ,and these algorithms always suffer from the signal model error or fail completely when they are used in the cross range. In this paper, the first order approximate model of Doppler frequency is assumed, and an algorithm based on the extended RELAX method is proposed to estimate the parameters of chirp signals. The Cramer-Rao bounds are derived and simulation results are also present to demonstrate the performance of the algorithm.
Direct Adaptive Controller for Uncertain MIMO Dynamic Systems with Time-varying Delay and Dead-zone Inputs

Abstract: This paper presents an adaptive tracking control method for a class of nonlinearly parameterized MIMO dynamic systems with time-varying delay and unknown nonlinear dead-zone inputs. A new high dimensional integral Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is introduced for the adaptive controller to guarantee global stability of the considered systems and also ensure convergence of the tracking errors to the origin. The proposed method provides an alternative to existing methods used for MIMO time-delay systems with dead-zone nonlinearities.
