Mechanism of Macroalloying-induced Ductility in Ni_3Al

Abstract: The bonding characteristics of Ni3Al doped with ternary elements has been investigated by means of the discrete variational Xα (DV-Xα) cluster method. From the computations. the addition of ternary element M (M= Pd. Ag. Cu and Co) substituting for the Ni sttes leads to the increase of delocalized bonding electrons. and the mechanism of ductilization of Ni3Al bV doping with M is explained based on the analysis of bonding characteristics. The increase of delocalized bonding electrons lowers the covalent bond directionality and strengthens grain boundary. The difference of strength between M-Al bond and M-Ni bond is an important factor in the effect of alloy stoichiometry on ductility. The larger the difference. the more the sensitivity to the alloy stoichiometry

Abstract: The discrete-variational method within the framework of density functional theory was used to investigate the process of O2 adsorption occurring on the surface of NiTi alloy. The calculated results showed that O2 exhibits the adsorption state of Oδ-2 (0.36<δ<0.70). O2 only interact with one nearest surface Ti atom, and the Ti atom only adsorbs one oxygen atom of the O2 molecule. Other cluster atoms would not be influenced in the adsorption process. The density of state analysis showed that the interaction between Ti and O atom is mainly contributed to 2p (O) and 4s (Ti) orbitals.
First principle study of O2 adsorption on NiTi alloy (100) surface

Abstract: First principle pseudopotential plane wave calculations based on density functional theory and the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) have been used to study the electronic structure of NiTi (100) surface, adsorption and decomposition of O2 on the NiTi alloy (100) surface. The results show that Ti-terminated surface is more reactive than Ni-terminated surface. O2 is activated and will decompose after adsorption. Among several possible adsorption configurations considered, the most stable one corresponds to bridge configuration and the top configuration is unstable. Analysis of the structure and density of state (DOS) shows the interaction of oxygen atom and surface results mainly from the total contribution of valance orbital of oxygen atom and hybridized surface orbital of NiTi alloy.

Abstract: 在对含Pd的Ni3Al合金进行成键特征分析基础上,用已建立的理论模型解释了Pb韧化Ni3Al的微观机制。Pd在Ni3Al中占据Ni原子位置,其成键电子的离域程度远大于Ni原子,可有效地削弱共价键的方向性而强化晶界结合力,改善多晶Ni3Al的韧性。偏离化学计量比对Pd韧化Ni3Al效果的影响,是因为Pd-Ni键较Pd-Ni键强。降低Al含量可增加离域的成键电子数,有利于Ni3Al的韧化。

Abstract: 利用离散变分Xa法计算了单晶Ni_3Al的一个原子簇(Ni_(15)Al_(12)),并据此分析了能级结构、电子态密度,计算了Ni_3Al中原子间的键级及相应的组成。键组成分析证明:Ni-Al键与Ni-Ni键具有较好的相似性,p-d键在两种键的组成中都占有较大比例。Ni_3Al的Ll_2结构,使两种相似的键在空间呈均匀分布,宏观上Ni_3Al表现出较高的强度。单晶体良好的韧性归因于Ni-Al键与Ni-Ni键的相似性,方向性较强的共价键在晶界处受到削弱导致多晶体的本征脆性。
Effects of Indigenous Innovation Policy on the S & T Outputs in China Evidence from the Higher Education System  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper evaluated the effects of indigenous innovation policies changes in 1996 and 2002 on the S&T outputs in the Chinese higher education system. I used interrupted time series design with yearly measures of number of SCI articles, average citation per item in 5 years, number of invention patent application accepted and invention patent granted from 1980 to 2008. The results showed statistically significant increases in the four output measures after the 1996 and 2002 innovation policies were adopted by the Chinese universities. In terms of effect size, the increases were 133% and 82% in number of SCI articles and 41% and 37% in citation impact for the two policy changes. The effect sizes are more noteworthy with 177% and 202% increases in patent applied 146% and 256% increase in patent granted for the two policy changes. The results supported all hypotheses and are basically consisted with prior research done by other scholars. However, small size sample and no control group are the two limitations of this research and future research could consider about the possibility to combine time series data and cross-sector data.

The (2 + 1)-dimensional fifth-order KdV equation is an important higher-dimensional and higher-order extension of the famous KdV equation in fluid dynamics. In this paper, by constructing new test functions, we investigate the periodic solitary wave solutions for the (2 + 1)-dimensional fifth-order KdV equation by virtue of the Hirota bilinear form. Several novel analytic solutions for such a model are obtained and verified with the help of symbolic computation.

The Benjamin-ono (BO) equation is an important nonlinear wave model which can describe the deep oceanic internal wave propagation. In this paper, the multi-algebraic solitary wave solutions for the internal wave BO equation including the linear velocity term in matrix form are given by the bilinear form. Based on the analytic solutions of the BO equation obtained in this paper and considering the hydrological parameters, the propagation of one-solitary wave and different kinds of interaction for the two-solitary waves are discussed and illustrated.

Research on Financial Early Warning of Listed Corporation Based on SOM Fusion BP Neural Network  [PDF]

Abstract: Combining with the special environment of Chinese market, this paper defines the listed Corporation’s financial crisis, and analyzes the shortcomings of the existing financial early warning model. In order to further improve the accuracy of the financial early warning, and adaptively select optimal training samples, short-term forecasting model of listed corporations based on the SOM network fusion BP network is proposed. The model firstly extracts the initial training samples relying on the SOM network and obtains the optimum ST samples and non ST samples in all training samples. Furthermore, the extracted samples are utilized to construct the financial early warning system of five different levels based on SOM network. Finally, the model is compared with other model algorithms. The results show that the financial early-warning model proposed in this paper possesses higher recognition accuracy on short term forecasting and monitoring of enterprise finance compared with other recognition models. Moreover, smaller data size is needed in this model on the premise that the effectiveness is guaranteed. Therefore, the early warning model proposed in this paper can better realize enterprise financial monitoring, so as to effectively prevent and defuse financial risks and crises.
