Growth With of Alfalfa Mutant in Different Nitrogen Fertilizer and Defoliation Intensity

Abstract: The research was conducted to evaluate growth of alfalfa mutan (plant height increment, number of leaves and dry matter production) in different Nitrogen Fertilizer and defoliation intensity. The design used was randomized block design 4x2 factorial with 3 replications. The first was dosage of Nitrogen fertilizerNitrogen (0, 30, 60 and 90 kg N / ha), the second factor was defoliation intensity (5 and 10 cm). Variables observed alfalfa growth (plant height increment, number of leaves, the production of dry matter (DM) forage). The results showed that different N fertilization did not affect the growth of alfalfa mutants. Defoliation intensity affectedmnumber of leaves and DM production of alfalfa mutant. Fertilization to 90 kg N / ha has not affected the growth and defoliation intensity 10 cm gave better growth on alfalfa mutant. [Keywords: alfalfa mutant; Nitrogen fertilizer; defoliation; growth]
Quantitative oscillator analysis of IR-optical spectra on spin-cast chitosan films

Abstract: Infrared optical properties of spin-cast chitosan films have been determined using spectroscopic ellipsometry. Infrared index of refraction and extinction coefficients from 750 cm–1 to 4000 cm–1 were determined using ellipsometric data fits to dispersion models based on Gaussian shaped oscillators. The free electron contribution was analyzed using a Drude model. This modeling determined that optical anisotropy was present over the entire infrared region. Line shape and oscillator strength analysis was performed to determine oscillator strengths, abundance, and relative bond strength.
Antifibrotic activities of pirfenidone in animal models

Abstract: Pirfenidone is an orally active small molecule that has recently been evaluated in large clinical trials for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a fatal disease in which the uncontrolled deposition of extracellular matrix leads to progressive loss of lung function. This review describes the activity of pirfenidone in several well-characterised animal models of fibrosis in the lung, liver, heart and kidney. In these studies, treatment-related reductions in fibrosis are associated with modulation of cytokines and growth factors, with the most commonly reported effect being reduction of transforming growth factor-β. The consistent antifibrotic activity of pirfenidone in a broad array of animal models provides a strong preclinical rationale for the clinical characterisation of pirfenidone in pulmonary fibrosis and, potentially, other conditions with a significant fibrotic component.
Female novelty and the courtship behavior of male guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus)

Abstract: in several rodent species, an increase or recovery of sexual behavior can be observed when sexually satiated males are placed in contact with a novel mate. in order to assess the influence of female novelty on the courtship behavior of guinea pigs (cavia porcellus), four adult males were observed during four daily 15-min sessions while interacting with the same pregnant female (same-female sessions). a new female was presented during the fifth session (switched-female session). the duration of behavioral categories was obtained from videotape records using an observational software. from the first to the second session, all males decreased the time allocated to investigating (sniffing and licking), following, and mounting the female, and that response did not recover by the end of the same-female sessions. no similar decreasing tendencies were detected in the circling or rumba categories. a marked increase of investigating occurred in all males from the last same-female session (8.1, 11.9, 15.1 and 17.3 percent session time) to the switched-female one (16.4, 18.4, 37.1 and 28.9 percent session time, respectively). increases in following and circling were recorded in three of four males, and full-blown recovery of mounting in one male. no consistent changes in the females' responses to males (following or attacking) were observed throughout testing. these results are consistent with the hypothesis that guinea pig males recognize individual females and that courtship responses may suffer a habituation/recovery process controlled by mate novelty.

The Effects of Different Sizes of Nanometer Zinc Oxide on the Proliferation and Cell Integrity of Mice Duodenum-Epithelial Cells in Primary Culture

Abstract: The MTT activity and LDH release were investigated in the proliferation and cell integrity of mice duodenum-epithelial cells which exposed to 10-15 nm and 100 nm nanometer zinc oxide (nano-ZnO). The mice duodenum-epithelial cells supplied two different sizes of nano-ZnO where supplemental Zn concentrations were 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2, 6.4, 12.8 μg ml-1, respectively. The results showed that the MTT activity increased with the increased concentrations of 10-15 nm and 100 nm nano-ZnO, while the concentration 12.8 μg ml -1 of 10-15 nm nano-ZnO decreased the MTT activity. The LDH released increased significantly under the concentration 12.8 μg ml-1 of 100 nm nano-ZnO and 6.4 μg ml -1, 12.8 μg ml-1 of 10-15 nm nano-ZnO. In summary, the nano-ZnO promoted the proliferation of the cells and did not injury the cells at lower concentrations.

Abstract: The paper describes the synthesis of 3-amino-4-phenylthieno[2,3-c]isothiazole and ethyl 3-amino-4-phenylthieno[2,3-c]isothiazole-5-carboxylate and their utilization to prepare a range of azo disperse dyes. These novel aryl azo dyes were studied with respect to their colour and constitution relationship. The application of these dyes on a polyester fabric and their fastness properties were evaluated. These dyes were characterized by NMR, IR and visible absorption spectroscopy.

An in vivo microfabricated scaffold for tendon repair

Abstract: A new type of in vivo tissue engineering system for tendon repair in situ after cut or crush of a flexor tendon is described. The system is based on the topographical reaction, alignment, migration and perhaps proliferation of tendon cells on micrometrically grooved substrates made in a biodegradable polymer. Macrophage trapping in the structure may also help to prevent inflammation. Tendon damage including crush and section injury is a fairly frequent occurrence. The conventional treatment is surgical repair, however frequently this leads, especially in hand wounds, to attachment of the tendon surface to the surrounding synovium, which is very undesirable. We present an approach based on using a biodegradable device to ensure that the healing of severed or crushed flexor tendons is aided, synovial adhesion prevented and the final result anatomically correct. The biodegradable sheath carries microgrooves fabricated into the polymer by embossing that orient and guide the cells towards each other from either side of the region of damage. After six weeks an apparently normal functional tendon is reformed.
