Abstract: In this study, age determination was done by using the skeletochronology method on Ak ehir, Konya (Turkey), 14 (5♂♂; 9♀♀) Parvilacerta parva specimens. Cross-sections of femurs were examined in total 14 individuals, the lowest number of LAGs was seen in one female and one male individuals as 4, the highest number of LAGs were seen in two female individuals as 8. Average SVL was found 50.8 mm (SD=2.27) in male individuals, and 53.1 mm (SD = 3.27) in females. For all the samples, the age-length equation was calculated as SVL (mm) = 37.82 + (2.47 * age). As a result of Pearson correlation analysis, a significant positive correlation (r=0.93, P 0.01) between age and SVL. Pileus length does not increase constantly with age (r=0.007, P=0.98), while pileus width increases normally together with age (r=0.212, P=0.46).

International Journal of Zoological Research , 2005,
Abstract: Fifteen adult Testudo specimens (T. hermanni and T. graeca) of Thrace Region (Turkey) were examined for 10 hematological parameters; Red Blood Cell count (RBC), hematocrit value (PCV), Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV), Hemoglobin Concentration (HbC), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH), Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC), blood cell (erythrocyte-leukocyte-thrombocyte) measurements and leukocyte formules. Of the investigation species, the widest and largest sized erythrocytes belong to T. hermanni, while the smallest sized erythrocytes is found T. graeca. Erythrocytes count and hemoglobin of T. graeca are found in more than T. hermanni. These hematological values were compared to those obtained from other Chelonia species.

Ecologia Balkanica , 2011,
Abstract: During our field work in the Tepeler Village (Ardahan, Turkey) on 27th of August, 2010, we observed hatchlings of Darevsika valentini. The mean body length of was found as 28.06±1.14 (25.3 30.4) and the total length as 70.81±3.92 (61.9 81.0). Juveniles were generally observed under stones and those portions of the roots of annual herbaceous plants which remain under stone are also used as shelters for juveniles. Neonates on the southern slopes of the hills could be individually seen and mostly, individuals aggregated [median number of individuals, 6 (115)] and lived in groups.

Ecologia Balkanica , 2011,
Abstract: The study presents data on the food composition of Horváth’s toadheaded agama, Phrynocephalus horvathi, in northern slopes of Mount Ararat (Aral k, I d r). A total of 294 prey items were determined in the digestive systems of 36 (8 males, 11 females, and 16 juveniles) individuals examined in the study. Prey groups in the food composition are included in Aranea (1.4%), Orthoptera (1.0%), Hymenoptera (73.5%), Coleoptera (23.1%) and Diptera (1.0%). No significant difference was observed between sexes regarding food composition. Consequently, Phrynocephalus horvathi is partially myrmecophagous (73.5%) and an active predator.
Fluorosis as an Environmental Disease and its Effect on Human Health

TAF Preventive Medicine Bulletin , 2010,
Abstract: Fluoride is a halogene found in earth, water, rocks, air, plants and animal tissue in various amounts. In normal conditions, people daily take fluoride compounds in amounts without any harmful effects this cause fewer dental caries and the formation of stronger bones. However, if the amount of fluoride taken daily exceeds the safety threshold, chronic fluoride intoxication, known as fluorosis, arises. As a result of fluorosis, pathological changes appear in tooths, skeletal system, liver, kidney, heart, gastrointestinal system and endocrin system. [TAF Prev Med Bull 2010; 9(3): 233-238]

Dogal Afetler ve Cevre Dergisi , 2016, DOI: 10.21324/dacd.25533
Abstract: In this study, severe damage types in concrete buildings observed after earthquakes were classified and investigated in relation to the structural behaviors. Since the damage types are very extensive, particularly heavy damages caused by column and combination of beam-column damages were discussed. Classification is made primarily in the form of damage types of the structural system and damages of structural elements. Classification of damage types of structural system was grouped as 1) Overlap collapse related damages, 2) Lateral collapse (accordion) damages, 3) Tilting damages, 4) Failure of a part on vertical alignment type damages, 5) Failure of a part of horizontal alignment type damages and 6) Horizontal failure of entire story while the damages of structural elements were grouped as 1) Out of plane deboning of column and 2) End part damages of column. Beams and floor damages, also considered as structural system damages, are not included in the scope of this study. This study summarizes precautions needed to be taken to prevent such damages studied.

Abstract: Recently, thinking has been evaluated as a learnable skill and lots of approaches to developing thinking have been put forward. For this reason, there has been some environments established that develops thinking, which provide practicing of their skills, by evaluating students' cognitive capacity in teaching situations. It is important for individuals to be eager in the exercises that are based on thinking to use their thinking structures effectively. The feature of eagerness in exercises that are based on thinking has been defined as the need for cognition by Cacioppo and Petty (1982). According to Cacioppo and Petty (1982), the need for cognition, is the tendency of seeking effortful thinking processes and enjoying those processes in persons (cited in Gülg z, Sadowski, 1995). The needs for cognition involve the qualifications about teaching profession. Since the detection of need for cognition levels of preschool prospective teachers in the first class will lead the way to the teaching studies in later periods, it is thought that, in research, identification of the need for cognition levels of first class preschool prospective teachers and their views on the need for cognition is important. The aim of the research is identification of the need for cognition levels of preschool prospective teachers and views directed to the need for cognition. In this framework, answers were sought for these questions in research: 1. What are the levels of need for cognition of preschool prospective teachers? 2. What are the views of preschool prospective teachers on the need for cognition? In research, to decide the levels of need for cognition of prospective teachers, quantitative, and to decide the views for the need for cognition, qualitative research techniques have been facilitated. 116 first class prospective teachers, who study at Pamukkale University, in Faculty of Education, Preschool Education Department, have formed the research group. Need for Cognition (Cacioppo, Petty & Kao, 1984 adapted to Turkish by Gülg z & Sadowski, 1995) Measure has been applied to those students. For 51 students, who selected among 116 prospective teachers, a five open ended questionnaire form has been generated by the researcher to identify their views on the need for cognition. Questions in this form have been prepared by considering the definitions that explains the term "need for cognition". In this research, to identify the levels of the need for cognition of students in the analysis of data, descriptive statistical values of collected data have been determined. In the evaluat

Abstract: Generally, the books concerning history of philosophy accept the proposition “the first principle of all things is water” that Thales said in 6th century BC as the birth of philosophical thought. What are the reasons and grounds of such an acceptance? Is to philosophise based on this acceptance a mental activity that extends from Ancient Greek to our times. Otherwise is there any possibility of philosophising differently in different cultures? All these questions are answered plainly or obscurely in the books concerning history of philosophy in Turkish. Therefore it seems possible to make relation to between our conception of philosophy and solution given for the problem of origin of philosophy by help of these answers.
