Celiana Kátia Pereira Lima,Fábio Akira Mori,Lourival Marin Mendes,Angélica de Cássia Oliveira Carneiro
CERNE , 2007,
Abstract: Wood is a heterogeneous and complex material made up from different elements distributed along the trunk in several proportions. Associated with hygroscopicity, they have an influence on wood processing, including bonding. Therefore the present study sought, not only through the anatomic characterization and measurement but also through the total extractive content in Eucalyptus clones wood, to find out the correlation between the quality and the bonding junctions. Pearson correlations were used, considering 39 and 26 clones in interaction with the urea- formaldehyde sticker. The anatomic characteristics, relative to frequency and size of conducting vessels, radial parenchyma and its total extractive content presented correlation with the evaluation of clone’s bonding quality as well as with the percentage of wood failure and glue-line shear.

Araújo, Kátia Gomes de Lima;Facchinetti, André Dumont;Santos, César Pereira dos;
Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20612003000100003
Abstract: in this work, it was verified the influence of the consumption of biomass from different origins on the body weight gain and food consumption by adult male wistar rats. groups fed the biomasses in the levels of 5% or 10% (w/w) were compared with a control. biomass i did not promote significant differences in food consumption or body weight. biomass ii did not cause significant difference in the body weight, but it caused an increase in food consumption. biomass iii did not cause significant differences in food consumption or body weight, but there was a tendency of increasing body weight for the 10% spirulina group. the hypothesis that different biomasses may have different properties was confirmed, but not the claim that spirulina may decrease body weight or food consumption.

Revista CEFAC , 2013,
PURPOSE: the aim of our research was to evaluate a child development monitoring program conducted by speech and language therapists taking into account the point of view of the families. METHOD: a qualitative study analyzed a focus group attended by eight subjects during two meetings. All group participants had at least attended two evaluations of the program. Data was collected with the support of a moderator, an observer and a reporter; it was then analyzed by grouping the most relevant and frequent categories found in the speeches of the participants. The discussion focused on the following aspects: reception, health promotion, empowerment, health care team, interdisciplinary work, integrality and bonding. RESULTS: program participants recognized the importance of speech therapists for health promotion and prevention insofar as they offer awareness training to child care providers and empower family members regarding infant development, which results in bonding between professionals and child care providers and integrated work. CONCLUSION: we analyzed the quality of the current health management model and suggest it be continued. However, it should start during gestation, include a higher number of follow up consultations and develop more multidisciplinary work.

International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/ijms13010961
Abstract: Sulfated polysaccharides (SP) are found mainly in seaweeds and animals. To date, they have only been found in six plants and all inhabit saline environments. Furthermore, there are no reports of SP in freshwater or terrestrial plants. As such, this study investigated the presence of SP in freshwaters Eichhornia crassipes, Egeria densa, Egeria naja, Cabomba caroliniana, Hydrocotyle bonariensis and Nymphaea ampla. Chemical analysis identified sulfate in N. ampla, H. bonariensis and, more specifically, E. crassipes. In addition, chemical analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, histological analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), as well as agarose gel electrophoresis detected SP in all parts of E. crassipes, primarily in the root (epidermis and vascular bundle). Galactose, glucose and arabinose are the main monosaccharides found in the sulfated polysaccharides from E. crassipes. In activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) test, to evaluate the intrinsic coagulation pathway, SP from the root and rhizome prolonged the coagulation time to double the baseline value, with 0.1 mg/mL and 0.15 mg/mL, respectively. However, SP from the leaf and petiole showed no anticoagulant activity. Eichornia SP demonstrated promising anticoagulant potential and have been selected for further studies on bioguided fractionation; isolation and characterization of pure polysaccharides from this species. Additionally in vivo experiments are needed and are already underway.
O Banco Mundial e a educa??o superior brasileira na primeira década do novo século
Lima, Kátia Regina de Souza;
Revista Katálysis , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-49802011000100010
Abstract: this article analyzes higher education policies promoted by the world bank in peripheral countries in the 1990s and the first decade of the new century. it found that the central guidelines of these policies (diversification of institutions of higher education, schools and financing sources) were implemented in brazil by the government of president luís inácio lula da silva. higher education has been treated as a business and placed in the hands of public-private partnerships in higher education through management contracts. this process has led to the deconstruction of brazilian public education as a social right and to the formation of a type of university suitable to the current phase of capital accumulation, particularly in a dependent capitalist country such as brazil.
Almeida, Kátia Maria Pereira de;
Mana , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93131998000200001
Abstract: through a discussion of franz boas's theory of primitive art, this article aims to establish a new approach to understanding and analyzing his work, taking as its backdrop the problematic relation between anthropological perspective(s) and the specific domain of art and material culture. with this objective in mind, two aspects are emphasized: first, boas's accentuation of the formal element within which artistic phenomena are delimited, an emphasis which reshapes primitive symbolism; secondly, his emphasis on stylistic patterning as a correlate of processual mechanisms of historico-cultural syntheses, an approach which reformulates the question of imagination. discussion of this theme reveals some of the epistemological and ontological foundations implicated in boas's proposed methodology. it also re-evaluates his critical position in relation to previous anthropological theories - in particular, social evolutionism - and demonstrates the originality of his bringing together of both history and science, as well as atomistic and holistic perspectives of culture.
Distin??o e transcendência: a estética sócio-lógica de Pierre Bordieu
Almeida, Kátia Maria Pereira de;
Mana , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-93131997000100006
Abstract: this essay's objective is to identify the productivity of several of pierre bourdieu's formulations regarding art and aesthetics in allowing for a properly anthropological reflection on this theme, situating it in the realm of contemporary discussions exploring its comparative dimension. based on a parallel with the theory of magic proposed by marcel mauss, the essay is constructed along three lines: identifying the perspective underlying bourdieu's theoretical effort; mapping out some of its main developments; and investigating its theoretical breadth. this approach permits one to demonstrate the methodological statute of "distinction" in its connection to bourdieu's sociological relativism, as well as to perform a critical assessment of the contemporary debate over the conditions allowing for an anthropology of art and/or aesthetics in terms of a counterpoint between particularism and universalism.
Distin o e transcendência: a estética sócio-lógica de Pierre Bordieu
Almeida Kátia Maria Pereira de
Mana , 1997,
