O novo desenvolvimentismo e a decadência ideológica do pensamento econ?mico brasileiro
Castelo, Rodrigo;
Servi?o Social & Sociedade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-66282012000400002
Abstract: in neoliberalism times, brazil has experienced a new phase of capitalist development that began in fhc's era and deepened under lula and dilmas's leadership. following the structural changes, there is the emergence of an ideology as a guide to direct the capitalist development in brazil - the new developmentalism. this article is a contribution to the critique of contemporary brazilian political economy, and it explains its limits from the marxian's (and luckasian) concept of ideological decadence.
Investiga??o científica e política colonial portuguesa: evolu??o e articula??es, 1936-1974
Castelo, Cláudia;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702012000200003
Abstract: the development of a colonial scientific policy by the portuguese state in the twentieth century is investigated by studying the junta de investiga??es do ultramar. directly subordinated to the ministério das col?nias/do ultramar and based in lisbon, this entity's main attribute was to coordinate the scientific studies to be undertaken in colonial territories under portuguese rule. the aim is to identify the institution's origins and objectives, to understand how its activities tied in with colonial policies, to detect what impacts the international scenario had on its trajectory and its strategic options. special attention is given to the period that started after the second world war, which was aligned with the mirage of development and reacted against the progress of the anti-colonial movement.
Avalia??o do conhecimento do rótulo dos inseticidas por agricultores em uma área agrícola do Distrito Federal
Castelo Branco, Marina;
Horticultura Brasileira , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-05362003000300031
Abstract: several programs of insecticide resistance management are being proposed by chemical and agricultural research companies. but, to manage insecticides it is fundamental that growers understand the label of those products. in order to verify if that occurs, growers from a rural area in the distrito federal were interviewed. the results showed that the red line on the label that means "dangerous insecticide" was unknown by 23% of them. no one knew the meaning of the terms "active ingredient" or "chemical group". also, 80% of the growers didn′t know if there was a difference between tamaron? and hamidop?. with those results, it was clearly shown that it is necessary to increase the knowledge of insecticide's labels in the area before the development of programs of insecticide resistance management.
Avalia??o da eficiência de formula??es de Bacillus thuringiensis para o controle de tra?a-das-crucíferas em repolho no Distrito Federal
Branco, Marina Castelo;
Horticultura Brasileira , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-05361999000300013
Abstract: the diamondback moth (plutella xylostella) is the most important cabbage pest in the federal district. new insecticides are frequently tested for its control and in this study two new bacillus thuringiensis formulations [b. thuringiensis var. aizawai (350 and 500 g/ha) and b. thuringiensis var. kurstaki x b. thuringiensis var. aizawai (350 and 500 ml/ha)] were tested between may and october 1995. the insecticides b. thuringiensis var. kurstaki (500 ml/ha), deltamethrin (240 ml/ha) and an untreated check were also included in the experiment. a randomized block, with seven treatments and four replications was used. the results showed that b. thuringiensis var. aizawai at the two dosages and b. thuringiensis var. kurstaki x b. thuringiensis var. aizawai at a dosage of 500 ml/ha were the most efficient products. after the end of the field experiment, diamondback moth larvae and pupae were collected from the experimental area. the insects were reared in the laboratory and second instar larvae from the first generation were fed with leaf discs treated with the b. thuringiensis dosages used in the field experiment. all products caused more than 97% larval mortality. the laboratory test suggests that the reduced efficiency of b. thuringiensis var. kurstaki (500 ml/ha) and b. thuringiensis var. kurstaki x b. thuringiensis var. aizawai (350 ml/ha) in the field test may be due to the poor persistence of the products in the environment.
Híbridos na paisagem: uma etnografia de espa?os de produ??o e de conserva??o
Silveira, Pedro Castelo Branco;
Ambiente & Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-753X2009000100007
Abstract: the present article deals with hybrids emerging in the landscapes built by the inhabitants of the rural zone of s?o luiz do paraitinga and a team of researchers studying the region, which i was part of. the appearance of these hybrids, considered to have taken place in a context of crisis, said so by several agents, and in landscapes where there is presumably a division of production and preservation sites, indicates a broad crisis of modernity, in the sense of latour that "we have never been modern".
Algumas considera??es sobre a interface entre a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (LIBRAS) e a Língua Portuguesa na constru??o inicial da escrita pela crian?a surda
Peixoto, Renata Castelo;
Cadernos CEDES , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-32622006000200006
Abstract: this paper proposes a psycholinguistic reflection on the conceptual constructions of deaf children in what regards writing. based on a dialogue with the ideas of emília ferreiro and ana teberosky, this work reveals that the psychogenesis of writing experienced by deaf children who have sign language as their first and instruction language, occurs in a different way than that of hearing children in the initial process of constructing writing. the main specificities of this acquisition are related to the non-phonetization of writing, to an intense exploration of the visual-spatial aspects of writing and to the usage of the phonologic parameters of sign language as a regulating and organizing element of writing. such peculiarities thus demand that school and alphabetizing teachers revise their conceptions on the process of writing of the deaf, thinking of (new) pedagogical practices that take into account the bilingual reality and its soundless relationship to writing.
A defini??o de activos nas estruturas conceptuais da informa??o financeira
Castelo Branco, Manuel;
Revista Contabilidade & Finan?as , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-70772005000300008
Abstract: conceptual framework documents deal with the objectives of financial reporting, the qualitative characteristics of financial information, the definitions of the elements of financial statements and the criteria for their recognition and measurement. this paper addresses the most important issues to be dealt with when defining the elements of financial statements and the way in which the main conceptual frameworks resolves such issues, namely in terms of the definition of assets. an evolution in the definition of assets is identified, and the definition presented by the uk accounting standards board is considered to be the most appropriate among those presented thus far.
Uma abordagem institucionalista da contabilidade
Branco, Manuel Castelo;
Revista Contabilidade & Finan?as , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-70772006000300009
Abstract: accounting and its standards contribute to the stable functioning of socioeconomic life. due to the importance of accounting as a social knowledge creation and communication mechanism, and due to the role of accounting standards in mediating the relations between different economic agents, they should be analyzed with reference to the concept of institution, which permits understanding their characteristic aspects. in this text, an institutionalist approach is used to understand the social role of accounting and the standards regulating its social practice, with a view to using it to understand the conceptual structures of financial information as an accounting regulation instrument.
As resistências ao poder em Michel Foucault
Castelo Branco, Guilherme;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732001000100016
Abstract: not much studied; the last stage of michel foucault's thought brings important contributions to the ethic and politic debate of our time, especially because it emphasizes the roll of the individual and of collectivities in the struggles for the transformation of the actual power structures. the way the struggles for resistance are, and their importance in the framework of the last foucault reveal a political dimension that before was unsuspected in his work. this dimension, more than the analytic of power, grants for the small and multiple movements of contestation an important and decisive roll for the future of the socio-political life, away from the scheduled frame of the political parties established and from the way of action instituted. this makes us retake, from new theoretical references, the discussion about the revolutionary potential still possible nowadays.
Effective Fractional Hall Effect with Pseudo-Photons
Ferreira, P. Castelo
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007,
Abstract: At variational level in the framework of dimensional reduced 'U_e(1)\times U_g(1)' electromagnetism it is considered an anyon Landau-Ginzburg Chern-Simons model for the fractional Hall effect. The collective gauge fields are due to pseudo-photons (...). We show that the model contains both magnetic vortexes due to the internal photons (interpreted as quasi-particles) and electric vortexes due to the internal pseudo-photons (interpreted as quasi-holes) that account for the anyon quantized magnetic flux and fractional electric charges, respectively. The effective magnetic flux is the only effective effect attributed to the standard internal photon which ensures compatibility between the pseudo nature of Laughlin's wave functions and macroscopical parity 'P' and time-inversion 'T' symmetries. In this way the model preserves these symmetries both at variational level and at the level of the electromagnetic equations. In particular holds the usual fractional Hall conductances with the Hall conductance '\hat{\sigma}_H' being a pseudo-scalar consistently with the electric Hall current equation. The negative energy contribution of quasi-holes to the Laughlin's wave function (...) is justified and the quantization of magnetic flux is directly equivalent to the Dirac's quantization condition applied to the coupling constants, or fundamental unit charges 'e' and 'g'. If our framework proves to be correct, quantization of magnetic flux may be the most direct evidence for Dirac's quantization condition. Our results also indicate that pseudo-photons electric vortex may give a theoretical justification for the electric potential between layers of bi-layer Hall systems.
