Modified Newtonian Dynamics as an Entropic Force  [PDF]
Diego A. Carranza, Sergio Mendoza
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2015.66084
Abstract: Under natural assumptions on the thermodynamic properties of space and time with the holo-graphic principle, we reproduce a MOND-like behaviour of gravity on particular scales of mass and length, where Newtonian gravity requires a modification or extension if no dark matter component is introduced in the description of gravitational phenomena. The result is directly obtained with the assumption that a fundamental constant of nature with dimensions of acceleration needs to be introduced into gravitational interactions. This in turn allows for modifications or extensions of the equipartion law and/or the holographic principle. In other words, MOND-like phenomenology can be reproduced when appropriate generalised concepts at the thermodynamical level of space and/or at the holographic principle are introduced. Thermodynamical modifications are reflected in extensions to the equipartition law which occur when the temperature of the system drops below a critical value, equals to Unruh’s temperature evaluated at the acceleration constant scale introduced for the description of the gravitational phenomena. Our calculations extend the ones by [1] in which Newtonian gravity is shown to be an emergent phenomenon, and together with it reinforces the idea that gravity at all scales is emergent.
Marcela Carranza
Bellaterra Journal of Teaching & Learning Language & Literature , 2010,
FORUM: The Meaning of Plunder Past and Present
Ruben Carranza
Kasarinlan : Philippine Journal of Third World Studies , 2001,
Abstract: Plunder, as a word and as a crime, is a very recent addition to the Filipinos' consciousness and vocabulary. It took former presidents Ferdinand Marcos and Joseph Estrada and half a trillion in stolen money for plunder to assume special significance. Making people aware and defining the crime is the easy part. Putting plunderers behind bars is harder. From the creation of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) 1987 to the signing of the Anti-Plunder Law in 2001 not one of the Marcos family or the Marcos cronies have spent a day in jail. This is because they have employed an army of the country's most brilliant lawyers, first, to hide the ill-gotten wealth and, later, to flood the courts with motions that delay trial. On the other hand, the present PCGG has only 11 lawyers handling 400 cases. The inherent complexity of litigation and the notorious slowness of the court system do not help. Some of the more successful cases took 10 years to drift from filing to ruling. And even if litigation prospers, a president, as in the case of Estrada, can slow down the process further by reducing the PCGG budget and finding a way to secure a pro-crony compromise agreement or even return the ill-gotten wealth to the rightful thieves. The present leadership appears to be more dedicated in pursuing plunderers. Punishment just come swiftly so that Filipinos will not forget and plunder will not become a meaningless word in the vocabulary.

Docencia, discurso y evaluación colaborativa
Guadalupe Carranza
Reencuentro , 2008,

Carranza,Juan Esteban;
Desarrollo y Sociedad , 2011,
Abstract: the goal of this article is to evaluate the impact on mortgage default of the policy regulating the indexation of mortgage balances in colombia during the 1990's. i argue that this policy, introduced by the colombian economic authorities during the early 1990's, had a substantial effect on mortgage default during the economic and financial crisis experienced by the colombian economy during the late 1990's. i perform an econometric analysis based on an optimal default model that is mapped to a random sample of mortgages that were outstanding between 1997 and 2004. the results imply that default was mostly determined by the variation in mortgage balances and home prices, and not much by the variation in income. moreover, i estimate that approximately 50% of observed default among mortgages initiated after 1996 is the result of the policy of tying the mortgage balances to the interest rate.
Carranza,Patricia Estrella;
Subjetividad y procesos cognitivos , 2009,
Abstract: the first part of this article describes the present research on the style of attachment in preschool children between three and five years old and their mothers or primary caregivers and then proceeds to explain the process of sampling, which includes data collection and its preparation. besides, the article describes the link between attachment theory as theoretical support to the research and its consistency with the definition of the sample. for that purpose, a description of the preschool attachment assessment method as a tool for data collection and an explanation of the concept‘multiproblematic families' as theoretical basis of the sample are required. finally, specific aspects of the sample, such as the use of films in laboratory situation and the classification method for style of attachment will be discussed.
Rodríguez Carranza,Luz;
Mora (Buenos Aires) , 2011,
Abstract: during twelve issues of the argentine journal babel, revista de libros (buenos aires, 1988-1989), the journalist maría moreno wrote the column "la mujer pública" (the public woman). in a publication whose directors proclaimed the inexistence of the locus of enunciation, to dissociate is a militant act. in this journal, the writings of moreno occupy- in the sense of usurping a space - the place of the women, one that exists and becomes visible precisely in the violence of the occupation. and this time, the space is not empty. on the contrary: the invader uses the voices of the public women, those who abandoned their private quarters and invaded the scene. some of them got slaughtered during the attempt. others managed to survive. and not only did they survive; they have successfully appropriated this destructive language . the locus becomes asymmetric, the word is object and subject, the style is body and gaze: and in this way it procures to "stop being the injury in order to become its observation" (moreno, 2004).
