Carolina Llanos
Revista Observaciones Filosóficas , 2012,
Abstract: The freedom is fundamental to the human existence independently that this is conscious or not it, thus it is considered as a value and inherent rights of each person, but to what extent have the freedom that we have? Is there a difference between the voluntary and free? The following essay attempts to answer these questions from Schopenhauer's worldview, noting the origin of the illusion of free will, as opposed to the idea of absolute freedom and will not transitive given on the metaphysical plane. This refers to a thought necessarily pessimistic and deterministic based on own pain and suffering of human existence corresponding to the metaphysical sustenance ethical, aesthetic and epistemological philosophy in relation to what Schopenhauer means will to live.

Abstract: this work describes and analyzes possible modifications in the mathematical argumentation in one hundred and thirty seven (n=137) textbooks for secondary school students published between 1940 and 2007. the notion of argumentation proposed by leit?o (2001; 2007) is adopted and used to describe the characteristics of the textbooks. the analysis of the textbooks facilitates the observation of different ways to base on and conceive mathematics according to the year of edition. this change is described according to traditions of the mathematical in the sense proposed by klimovsky and boido (2005). the mostly used and representative textbooks in the secondary school in the argentinean educational system are selected by an intentional sample. taking into account categories and subcategories of analysis, a qualitative description is made of the characteristics of textbooks and of the argumentation. assuming a broad notion of argumentation, it may be stated that there would be modifications in the form to initiate it, in the types of reasoning and in the situations proposed in relation to the way mathematics are conceived. besides, there are changes in the quantity and quality of images used in recent editions. some considerations about how external representations would affect mathematical argumentation are made. on the other hand, if the explicit confrontation of points of view is assumed as a necessary condition to define argumentation, it is concluded that neither of the textbooks would be argumentative. this leads to reflect about the proportion between informative and strictly argumentative aspects that are involved in a textbook.

Perspectiva Educacional Formación de Profesores , 2012,
Abstract: This work describes and analyzes possible modifications in the characteristics of the Argumentation and in the External Images that present (N=137) scholastic books of Mathematics of the Mean Level in the Argentinean Educational System; published between years 1940 and 2007. It is analyzed like there link the characteristics of the books and of the Argumentation, and also the relation between the external images and the Mathematical Argumentation; with the aim to determine some distinctive characteristics among the whole of text books and to do a classification.

Excess of the endocannabinoid anandamide during lactation induces overweight, fat accumulation and insulin resistance in adult mice

Diabetology & Metabolic Syndrome , 2012, DOI: 10.1186/1758-5996-4-35
Abstract: To evaluate long-term effects of AEA treatment during lactation on body weight, epididymal fat accumulation and related metabolic parameters during adulthood.Male mice pups were orally treated with a solution of AEA (20?μg/g body weight in soy oil) or vehicle during the whole lactation period. After weaning, food intake and body weight were recorded every 10?days. Adult animals were subjected to glucose and insulin tolerance tests. Subsequently, animals were sacrificed and epididymal fat pads were extracted. Circulating levels of plasma insulin, leptin, non-sterified fatty acids (NEFA), triglyceride and cholesterol were also evaluated.AEA-treated mice during lactation showed a significant increase in accumulated food intake, body weight and epididymal fat during adulthood when compared to control mice. When evaluating CB1R protein expression in epididymal fat, the AEA-treated group showed a 150?% increase in expression compared to the control mice. This group also displayed significantly higher levels of circulating glucose, insulin, leptin, triglycerides, cholesterol and NEFA. Moreover, a marked state of insulin resistance was an important finding in the AEA-treated group. This study showed that overweight, accumulation of visceral fat and associated metabolic disturbances, such as a higher lipid profile and insulin resistance, can be programmed by a treatment with the endocannabinoid AEA during lactation in adult mice. The increased body of research referring to early life events with long-term consequences, arose from earlier epidemiological studies linking environmental conditions during infancy to a higher risk of disease and mortality in adulthood [1,2]. This situation is a consequence of permanent changes in physiology and/or structure in response to environmental conditions, due to the developmental plasticity of living organisms.Overweight/obesity is a physiopathological condition characterized by an imbalance between energy intake and energy expenditure, whi
Contribution of dendritic cell/T cell interactions to triggering and maintaining autoimmunity

Biological Research , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-97602011000100007
Abstract: under healthy conditions, there is a balance between tolerance to self-tissue constituents and immunity against foreign antigens. autoimmunity diseases (ad) take place when that equilibrium is disrupted and the immune response is directed to self-antigens, leading to injury or destruction of host tissues. the mechanisms conducing to the loss of immune tolerance remain largely unknown. the recent appearance of biological therapies has contributed to significant reduction in morbidity. however, currently available therapies are associated with important side effects and work only as palliative treatments. dendritic cells (dcs) have emerged as key players in developing and maintaining adaptive immunity due to their capacity to prime and modulate t cell function. therefore, because dcs work as central modulators of immune tolerance, it is likely that alterations in their function can lead to the onset of autoimmune-inflammatory diseases. by modulating dc function, novel pathways in antigen-specific tolerance could be established. in this article, the possible contribution of altered dc-t cell interactions to the onset of autoimmunity are discussed. in addition, we expand on the notion that some of the functions of these cells could be relevant targets for intervening therapies aimed to restore the balance or even prevent the loss of tolerance.

José Amar Amar,Raimundo Abello Llanos,Carolina Acosta
