EFECTO DE LA INOCULACIóN CON HONGOS FORMADORES DE MICORRIZAS ARBUSCULARES SOBRE PLáNTULAS DE CAUCHO

Abstract: hevea brasiliensis rubber plants were inoculated with native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (amf) during their greenhouse acclimatization. the amf were multiplied for 4 months associated with lolium sp. plants having 73% root colonization. seven morphotypes were obtained. two different groups of h. brasiliensis plants were inoculated with these morphotypes to determine amf effect on mortality rate, growth, mycorrhization and leaf p content: those produced in vivo by seed germination and those produced in vitro by micropropagation. plantlets produced in vitro returned 12.6% amf colonization and 0.41 g accumulated dry biomass, whereas seedlings produced in vivo had 44.7% and 1.40 g , respectively, compared to control plants with no amf inoculation which accumulated 0.37 g (in vitro) and 0.40 g (in vivo). amf inoculation reduced the plants? mortality rate regarding in vitro produced material; however, it did not influence foliar p content. inoculated plants? growth response was different, depending on plant material and the kind of inoculum used (native or foreign). symbiosis developed between amf and h. brasiliensis in controlled growth conditions although its advance was limited by the plants? growth stage. nevertheless, such association influenced inoculated plants? biomass accumulation and decreased their mortality rate and could be used as an alternative treatment during the earliest stages of h. brasiliensis plantlet production.
Evaluación de dos tipos de esquejes para producción de tubérculo-semilla élite en cuatro variedades de papa Solanum phureja juz et buk y Solanum tuberosum

Abstract: Esta investigación se realizó en el Laboratorio de Cultivo de Tejidos Vegetales del Instituto de Biotecnología de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia (IBUN) y en los invernaderos de la Facultad de Agronomía, Sede Bogotá. El propósito fue evaluar una metodología para propagación de plántulas y producción de tubérculo semilla élite en cuatro variedades de papa: Solanum tuberosum L. ssp andígena (Diacol-Capiro, ICA-Puracé y Parda Pastusa) y Solanum phureja Juz et Buk. (“Yema de huevo”-Clon 1), a partir de esquejes obtenidos de plantas provenientes de cultivos in vitro libres de virus, indexadas mediante prueba de ELISA. Una vez que las plantas eran adaptadas a condiciones ex vitro y alcanzaron una longitud de más de 25 cm, se cortaron esquejes que portaban una yema apical con dos nudos y el esqueje axilar siguiente con la yema y su hoja. La base de éstos se sumergió en soluciones de ácido naftalenacético (ANA) en concentraciones de 0 (control), 5, 10 y 15 mg/l durante una hora, después fueron colocados en bandejas de enraizamiento que contenían turba como soporte. También se utilizó un producto comercial (Hormonagro No.1) cuyo ingrediente activo es ANA al 0,04% para la inducción de raíces en ambos tipos de esqueje como un ensayo adicional comparándolo con un control (sin aplicación de enraizador); los esquejes se impregnaron con el polvo en su base e inmediatamente se pusieron en las bandejas de enraizamiento. Se hicieron ensayos independientes con cada variedad para evaluar los efectos de las dosis de ANA y Hormonagro sobre los dos tipos de esqueje (axilar y apical). Se evaluaron las siguientes variables respuesta: porcentaje de supervivencia de esquejes a la tercera semana, longitud y número de hojas de esquejes durante tres semanas, área foliar y peso seco de esquejes a la cuarta semana. Después de esto los esquejes se sembraron en bolsas plásticas de 10 x 14 pulgadas calibre seis y se llevaron a invernaderos donde se realizó el aporque y demás manejo agronómico. Luego de cumplido el ciclo vegetativo de las plantas se midieron los rendimientos (peso y número de tubérculos) para cada tratamiento. Se utilizó un dise o completamente al azar para cada ensayo (dosis de ANA y Hormonagro) en cada variedad en un arreglo factorial 2 x 4 y 2 x 2 correspondientes al tipo de esqueje (axilar o apical) y concentración de ANA (0, 5, 10 y 15 mg/l) en el primer caso y (sin Hormonagro y con Hormonagro) en el segundo caso. El porcentaje de supervivencia de esquejes fue superior al 90% en los axilares y mayor del 95% en los apicales. El Hormonagro redujo significativamente
Hodge polynomials of the SL(2,C)-character variety of an elliptic curve with two marked points

Abstract: We compute the Hodge polynomials for the moduli space of representations of an elliptic curve with two marked points into SL(2,C). When we fix the conjugacy classes of the representations around the marked points to be diagonal and of modulus one, the character variety is diffeomorphic to the moduli space of strongly parabolic Higgs bundles, whose Betti numbers are known. In that case we can recover some of the Hodge numbers of the character variety. We extend this result to the moduli space of doubly periodic instantons.
Quantitative modeling of degree-degree correlation in complex networks

Abstract: This paper presents an approach to the modeling of degree-degree correlation in complex networks. Thus, a simple function, \Delta(k', k), describing specific degree-to- degree correlations is considered. The function is well suited to graphically depict assortative and disassortative variations within networks. To quantify degree correlation variations, the joint probability distribution between nodes with arbitrary degrees, P(k', k), is used. Introduction of the end-degree probability function as a basic variable allows using group theory to derive mathematical models for P(k', k). In this form, an expression, representing a family of seven models, is constructed with the needed normalization conditions. Applied to \Delta(k', k), this expression predicts a nonuniform distribution of degree correlation in networks, organized in two assortative and two disassortative zones. This structure is actually observed in a set of four modeled, technological, social, and biological networks. A regression study performed on 15 actual networks shows that the model describes quantitatively degree-degree correlation variations.
Sulfur depletion in dense clouds and circumstellar regions I. H2S ice abundance and UV-photochemical reactions in the H2O-matrix

Abstract: This work aims to study the unexplained sulfur depletion observed toward dense clouds and protostars. We made simulation experiments of the UV-photoprocessing and sublimation of H2S and H2S:H2O ice in dense clouds and circumstellar regions, using the Interstellar Astrochemistry Chamber (ISAC), a state-of-the-art ultra-high-vacuum setup. The ice was monitored in situ by mid-infrared spectroscopy in transmittance. Temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) of the ice was performed using a quadrupole mass spectrometer (QMS) to detect the volatiles desorbing from the ice. Comparing our laboratory data to infrared observations of protostars we obtained a more accurate upper limit of the abundance of H2S ice toward these objects. We determined the desorption temperature of H2S ice, which depends on the initial H2S:H2O ratio. UV-photoprocessing of H2S:H2O ice led to the formation of several species. Among them, H2S2 was found to photodissociate forming S2 and, by elongation, other species up to S8, which are refractory at room temperature. A large fraction of the missing sulfur in dense clouds and circumstellar regions could thus be polymeric sulfur residing in dust grains.

Efecto de 1- MCP (1-metilciclopropeno) y Promalina en la duración del color de brácteas florales de Tillandsia caacticola (Bromeliaceae)

Abstract: Las brácteas florales de Tillandsia cacticola conservan hasta por un a o su color cuando no son cortadas de la planta; cuando las inflorescencias son cortadas y empacadas su color desaparece rápidamente. Plantas de T. cacticola fueron sumergidas completamente en soluciones de AG4+7 + BAP (Promalina) y 1-MCP (1- metilciclopropeno) a diferentes concentraciones El tratamiento de las plantas con 2,0 mg/l de 1-MCP por 16 h a 23 C retrasó la pérdida del color en las brácteas florales por diez días respecto al testigo sin tratar. Las plantas tratadas individualmente con 90 y 180 mg/l de AG4+7 + BAP no mostraron incremento en la duración del color de sus brácteas florales e incluso se redujo la duración del color respecto a la del testigo.
Moduli spaces of parabolic $U(p,q)$-Higgs bundles

Abstract: Using the $L^2$-norm of the Higgs field as a Morse function, we count the number of connected components of the moduli space of parabolic $U(p,q)$-Higgs bundles over a Riemann surface with a finite number of marked points, under certain genericity conditions on the parabolic structure. This space is homeomorphic to the moduli space of representations of the fundamental group of the punctured surface in $U(p,q)$, with fixed compact holonomy classes around the marked points. We apply our results to the study of representations of the fundamental group of elliptic surfaces of general type.
Hodge-Deligne polynomials of SL(2,C)-character varieties for curves of small genus

Abstract: We compute the Hodge-Deligne polynomials of the moduli spaces of representations of the fundamental group of a complex surface into SL(2,C), for the case of small genus g, and allowing the holonomy around a fixed point to be any matrix of SL(2,C), that is Id, -Id, diagonalisable, or of either of the two Jordan types. For this, we introduce a new geometric technique, based on stratifying the space of representations, and on the analysis of the behaviour of the Hodge-Deligne polynomial under fibrations.
