INTRODUCTION: Aedes aegypti is the main dengue and hemorrhagic dengue vector and its widespread behavior responds to a number of factors, among them, the climatic ones. OBJECTIVES: to determine the behavior of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes depending on season and weather conditions and how it relates with climatic factors such as temperature and rain. METHODS: a descriptive seasonal and weather study was made on the basis of data given by the provincial weather center and the surveillance anti-vector fight unit located in Sancti Spiritus province, which covered the 1999-2007 period. RESULTS: of the total number of samples, 86,7% comprised immature phases of the mosquito whereas 13,2% corresponded to mosquitoes at the adult phase; 19,2 % of foci were found inside houses and premises but 80,7 % outdoors. The highest focal incidence occurred in 2001 (278 foci) and in 2005 (219 foci) whereas the lowest incidence was found in 1999 (14 foci) and in 2003 (32 foci). The municipalities with the highest numbers of foci were Trinid

Abstract: introduction: the population′s knowledge is important to develop participatory processes that support the reduction of aedes aegypti. objectives: to identify sociodemographic factors, knowledge, perceptions and practice in the population of three people′s councils in lisa municipality about aedes aegypti control and dengue prevention; to determine the association of these sociodemographic factors with the adequate level of knowledge about dengue, and relate the implementation of suitable practice to risk knowledge and perceptions. methods: cross-sectional study was conducted in which surveys and an observational guide were applied to a randomized sample of individuals living in the selected areas. percentages from the people′s councils were compared whereas two logistic regression models to set relations among the studied variables were adjusted for. results: the most cited breeding site for aedes aegypti was garbage (67,3%), the most referred preventive measure was container covering (90,2%); perception of risk of getting sick was low or non-existent (55%); regarding the visited houses, the most used practices were cleaning of backyards and water tank protection. in the multi-variate analysis, the young people showed better knowledge than people aged over 59 years whereas those people having better knowledge of breeding sites and preventive measures were the ones who followed adequate practice.

Rodríguez Blanco,Carlos;
Educaci?3n M??dica Superior , 2003,
Abstract: the author of this paper, member of the arthroscopic surgery group devoted to assistance, teaching and research of the arthroscopic technique at "hermanos ameijeiras" hospital, is not satisfied with the classical model of teaching of this therapeutic variant. therefore, using his experience of over a decade in the formation of professionals within this profile, he presents in this paper a teaching model for the application of this technique that employs a teaching lab for instruction and facilitates sound theoretical-practical basis that reduces the learning period and increases the competence of the trained professional. the model allows making a systematic and objective evaluation of the level of preparation of students and protects the population receiving this service. this model has served to train over 50 professionals in the basic, introductory, advanced technique and specialized courses as well as in 2 national diploma's courses, with a higher quality in learning which is seen in the application of the different techniques. this model has provided uniform procedures to carry out five national multicenter studies.
Acevedo Rodríguez,Carlos;
Gaceta Laboral , 2011,
Abstract: based on the observation that chilean society, in a context of high economic growth, is polarized in terms of job insecurity and divided with respect to some elements that define conformity with the political regime and the economic system, two questions arise. the first questions the explanatory capacity of an insecure worker to give or not give legitimacy to the democratic, economic regime. the second questions the degree to which this labor polarization brings us closer to a potential conflict. to answer such questions, a theoretical overlap was constructed that accounts for the theoretical conditions, necessary but not sufficient, for the advent of potential conflict, key for social polarization. a survey was constructed and applied in the city of iquique, chile (a city that has grown extensively in recent decades). conclusions are that, although insecure workers are more discontented than secure workers, instead of promoting conditions for conflict, job insecurity promotes social atomization.
