Riccioppo, Carlos Eduardo;
ARS (S?o Paulo) , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1678-53202008000200011
Abstract: this text focuses the work of the artist josé leonilson (1957-1993) produced during the late eighties, when it begins, at it is argued here, to show a poetics of parsimoniousness, marked by a strict economy of means. this poetics would have brought about to the work new ways of confronting materials coming from the mass culture universe.
A TV digital interativa terrestre e o público brasileiro: reflex?es pela manuten??o de uma rela??o de afeto
Marquioni, Carlos Eduardo;
Intercom: Revista Brasileira de Ciências da Comunica??o , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1809-58442012000200021
Abstract: while the interactivity of digital terrestrial tv in brazil can promote digital inclusion it also tends to cause variations in the experience of watching television. considering the hypothesis that the affection of the public in relation to the tv is justified by the oral nature of the brazilian people, and getting into account that execution of more sophisticated interactions requires literacy, this article presents (i) reflections related to the risk of detachment from tv with the arrival of interactivity by a parcel of the audience of brazilian television (which has limited literacy) and (ii) an initial proposal to minimize the risk of detachment between the new television and its audience potentially excluded due to need for literacy. the article proposes conceptual reflections - using the key notion of culture - related to the potential estrangement of the audience with the interactivity on tv, culminating with the presentation that it can be possible to use resources of the interactive television to provide enough literacy to execute sophisticated interactions on brazilian digital interactive tv, using the performance concept.
Acta Biológica Colombiana , 2009,
Abstract: this paper discusses the possibility of reaching a theory of extinctions, a theory nonexistent so far that can be taken as complementary to the theory of evolution. the core problem is here the exploration of the general theory of complexity, a task that remains open and without a definite conclusion until now. paleontology and biology can be grasped as the two faces of one and the same token whose most salient feature is punctuated equilibria and catastrophism, and not gradualism any longer. extinctions are viewed here particularly as massive extinctions. after the dialogue between paleontology and biology, evolution and extinctions, a number of reflections are extrapolated to the social, cultural and philosophical framework. the general context hence is the one provided by the sciences of complexity.
Merchants and councilors: intellectual divergences in early 17th century British economic thought
Suprinyak, Carlos Eduardo;
Nova Economia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512011000300006
Abstract: during the early 1620's, england went through a period of intense economic disorders which sparked the interest of many in economic reasoning. the decade witnessed the emergence of the most relevant pieces of economic literature of the early stuart era, but the debate was not restricted to the abstract confrontation of economic writers. the fundamental issue at stake in the controversies between malynes, misselden, and mun - the integration of money and international trade in a coherent explanation of economic phenomena - was also the subject of much care in the public sphere at large. the parliamentary session of 1621, in particular, put in evidence not only the fundamental relevance of the matter for understanding england's economic maladies, but also the great difficulties involved in its investigation. by bringing all these elements together, this paper seeks to articulate a more dense and meaningful portrait of the prevailing state of economic ideas in early 17th century england.
As origens e a gênese do Plano Collor
Carvalho, Carlos Eduardo;
Nova Economia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512006000100003
Abstract: the blockage of financial asset liquidity in march 1990, known as the collor plan - one of the most drastic state interventions in the brazilian economy ever -, originated in the debate over the failure of previous stabilization policies, especially the heterodox shocks of the sarney government. this intervention was an attempt to tackle, at the same time, the three problems identified with the shocks: (i) the tendency for accelerated monetizationand for an explosion in demand in moments of abrupt reduction of the inflation; (ii) the implications of high liquidity of financial assets and "indexed money" and (iii) the precarious financing of the public debt. the debate pointed to the possibility and even the need for non-conventional measures to be taken in relation to these three problems. the collor plan itself began to be formatted by the president-elect?s advisors at the end of december 1989, after his victory in the runoff election. the final draft was probably strongly influenced by a document discussed by the advisors of pmdb party candidate ulysses guimar?es, and later by advisors of pt party candidate luís inácio lula da silva, during the period between the general election and the runoff. in spite of the differences in their general economic strategies, these competing candidates failed to develop their own stabilization policies at a time of rapid price increases and risk of hyperinflation during the second half of 1989. the proposal to block liquidity originated in academic debate and was imposed upon the main presidential candidacies.

Pesquisa com o cotidiano
Ferra?o, Carlos Eduardo;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302007000100005
Abstract: this text explores the research "with" the quotidian. it aims to provoke a permanent opening to reflection and debate about the quotidian and the research with the quotidian, instead of closing the subject with a systematic proposal. it uses the studies developed in public schools from the state of espírito santo between 1999 and 2004. their main objective was to provoke, in the school quotidian practitioners, intervention practices on the curriculum and continued formation, assumed as complex processes that interpenetrate the knowledge-doing networks woven and shared by the school subjects. based on the evidences found, we can infer that the quotidian requires that education researchers bring forth theoretical-methodological possibilities different from those inherited from modernity to overcome the intention to lock the quotidian in pre-established categories and guarantee the impossibility of using the singular to deal with the diversity that manifests itself in life.
Los grandes paradigmas de la educación médica en Latinoamérica
Pinzón,Carlos Eduardo;
Acta Medica Colombiana , 2008,
Abstract: the medical education has been and will continue to be a subject of concern to all generations anywhere in the world because it depends in part on the progress of societies and our profession; so necessary in the state. the objective of this article is to try to conduct a historical review of the processes that have taken place in medical education in the world and especially in latin america; taking as a benchmark the two paradigms most important so far as the "flexner" paradigm and the "critical" paradigm. i?ll also try to show the disadvantages and some educational reforms that most of the nations have faced, related to adversity in the socio-economic context that surrounds them. besides that, i make an outline of a third emerging paradigm generated by the introduction of a new character in medical education: technology.
Cultura e forma??o humana no pensamento de Antonio Gramsci
Vieira, Carlos Eduardo;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97021999000100005
Abstract: based on the hypothesis that there is an inevitable linking in gramsci?s thought involving historical knowledge, political praxis, cultural struggle, and human development this paper tries to make explicit gramsci?s reflection on the development of man in society as an intrinsic part of his political theory. in order to reveal the pertinence of this angle in the reading of gramsci?s work this paper will attempt to expound and interpret his ideas in view of a historicist methodological procedure which, it is assumed, makes it possible to place theoretical problems - the ideas produced in the past - within the specific contexts where they were born. the conclusions draw attention to an issue that is potentially relevant to the gramscian perspective: the possibility of building a theory of human development, based on gramsci, that avoids reducing the understanding of the development process to the intellectual development of man conceived in isolation while at the same time avoids escaping the extreme opposite of seeing the development of personality in an excessively deterministic manner, and man as a passive product of his social environment. gramsci regards the issue of the development of the individual as a strategic function of politics for the implementation of the project of a class to become hegemonic. he thinks this is the task of a vanguard with respect to the political activists, as well as a responsibility of the elders to the younger generation in the perspective of creating more advanced forms of civility.
As origens da rede de servi?os de aten??o básica no Brasil: o Sistema Distrital de Administra??o Sanitária
Campos, Carlos Eduardo Aguilera;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702007000300011
Abstract: there exists an interaction between multiple issues involving policy making, the building of knowledge and the implementation of practices in the health sector, which results in the particular way health services are provided in different historical contexts. the emergence and consolidation of sanitation organization was the result of a political process based on an idea of meeting the needs perceived in a given historical context. the historical course taken by the basic healthcare system in brazil is analyzed from the perspective of its organizational and welfare principles, its expansion in physical terms, and its function within the public health system between 1918 and 1942. the article seeks to describe in detail the antecedents and initiatives taken in the establishment of a district system of sanitation administration, first in rio de janeiro and later across brazil, which was a precursor of the basic healthcare system in brazil.
