Cordeiro, Carlos Alberto Martins;Martins, Meire Lelis Leal;
Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20612009000100021
Abstract: polygalacturonase production by thermophilic bacillus sp strain smia-2 cultivated in liquid media containing citrus pectin as a carbon source reached the maximum activity at 30 hour with levels of 42 iu.ml-1. among the various organic and inorganic nitrogen sources, ammonium sulphate was found to be the best for the enzyme secretion. an increase in the citrus pectin concentration in the medium of more than 0.5% did not enhance enzyme synthesis. the microorganism was capable of utilizing a wide range of carbon sources, but the activity of poligalacturonase varied depending on the carbon source. apple's pectin was the best carbon source in the present study for polygalacturonase secretion (56 iu.ml-1) while fructose and maltose were not very effective. rafinose and glucose inhibited the enzyme synthesis. studies on the polygalacturonase characterization revealed that the optimum temperature of this enzyme was 70 oc and that it maintained 62 and 58% of its activity when incubated at 40 oc and 90 oc for 2 hour, respectively. the optimum ph of the enzyme was found to be 7.0. the enzyme maintained 90% and 75% of its maximal activity when incubated at ph 8.0 and 8.5 for 24 hour at room temperature, respectively. the enzyme activity was enhanced in the presence of mg2+ and zn2+. on the other hand, the activity was inhibited in the presence of cs+2, hg+2, li+2 and sr+2.

Abstract This study sought to revisit the two conceptions of art - and reflective teaching - forged over history and his relationship with Brazilian aesthetic thought of resistance. From the 60's, such thinking pedagogy attribute fidelity to art, inserting the critical task of social and human emancipatory politics of participation: In this scenario highlighted the Theatre of the Oppressed, the New Movies and music of protest Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil and Milton Nascimento, among others.
Genealogia do biopoder
Martins, Luiz Alberto Moreira;Peixoto Junior, Carlos Augusto;

Abstract: the objective of the present paper is to trace the elements, the questions and problematizations that rendered possible to foucault the elaboration of the concepts of biopower, biopolitics, governmentality and security. in this work we intend to investigate the genealogy of biopower and biopolitics, seeking to retrace in foucault's reflections around the medicalization of society and the extension of medical power - in the period 1974-1976, especially in the lectures at uerj - the questioning that prepared the emergence of the notions of biopower and biopolitics, as proposed by him in 1976. we can suppose that the articulation made by foucault between the medicalization of society and the government of life was one of the conditions that rendered possible the emergence of the hypothesis of biopower.
Early performance of Olea europaea cv. Arbequina, Picual and Frantoio in the southern Atacama Desert

Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2008,
Abstract: The cultivars Arbequina, Picual and Frantoio of Olea europaea are cultivated in severalMediterranean countries. In 1999, these cultivars were planted at three locations in the region of Coquimbo,an arid, Mediterranean-like area in Chile. A generalized linear modeling approach was used in view of thenon-normal distribution of the agronomic data sets. Fruit yield (harvests of 2002-2003), precocity (2002) andtree survival (after four growing seasons) differed significantly between the cultivars. Arbequina and Picualhad a positive effect on the yield. Picual was the earliest cultivar at two sites. The survival rate of Frantoio washigh at the three sites (90-100%), as opposed to Picual (56-83%). The approach of Generalized Linear Modelswas particularly useful where the assumption of normality was not satisfied. The selection of cultivars ispromising in this arid region of Chile, while the success will depend on the selection of well-adapted genotypesto a particular location.
CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTE USE IN SOIL – CEMENT = APLICA O DO RESíDUO DE CONSTRU O E DEMOLI O EM SOLO – CIMENTO
Paulo Edison Martins da Silveira,Carlos Alberto Nobrega
Holos Environment , 2005,
Abstract: The generation of Construction and Demolition Wastes (CDW) is a hugeenvironmental problem. In Piracicaba-SP, approximately 620 tons of these wastes are generated every day. This problem results in several environmental damages such as: irregular placing of wastes accumulating trash that attract animals capable to transmit illness; rubble on public roads and on streams that affect draining and stability on hills; degradation of urban visual; reduction of shelf-life of the levellings and nonrenewable mineral sources. Municipalities try to attend CONAMA, (2002) Resolution 307 requirements, undertaking actions to re-use CDW as aggregate forpaving, closing of ditches and producing concrete blocks. There is, however, the necessity to use it in bigger scale, enabling these materials to become feasible economical alternatives. Therefore, it is proposed to use it as an aggregate on soilcement composite. Physical, technological and chemical properties, of mixtures containing recycled CDW and soil in different proportions, were tested. It was noticed that those mixtures with 50%, 75% and 100% of CDW attend technological specifications for the use as soil-cement. As far as the chemical aspects are concerned, the use of recycled CDW as aggregate in the soil-cement showed to be feasible and efficient in the encapsulating process of the contaminants.
