Abstract: a morphological study of the yolk nucleus in previtellogenic oocytes from a. bimacularus has been carried out. six phases of development were described from its formation closed to the oocyte nucleus to its dispersion in the periferic ooplasm. histochemical techniques indicate proteins, lipids and rna in the yolk nucleus of a. bimaculatus, but there are no carbohydrate in this structure. the origin and functional activity of the teleost yolk nucleus are discussed.

The Effect of Mentoring on Career Satisfaction of Registered Nurses and Intent to Stay in the Nursing Profession

Abstract: Mentoring is important in the career development of novice and experienced nurses. With the anticipated shortage in nursing, it is important to explore factors such as mentoring that may contribute to career satisfaction and intent to stay in the profession. This study explored the effects of mentoring on career satisfaction and intent to stay in nursing, and the relationship between career satisfaction and intent to stay in nursing. It was conducted through a mailed survey of RNs 55 years or younger currently in practice, education, administration, or research. Career satisfaction was measured through the use of the newly developed Mariani Nursing Career Satisfaction Scale. Findings revealed no statistically significant effect of mentoring on career satisfaction and intent to stay in nursing. There was a statistically significant relationship between career satisfaction and intent to stay in nursing. The majority of nurses reported participating in a mentoring relationship. Although the findings related to mentoring, career satisfaction, and intent to stay were not statistically significant, there was a prevalence of mentoring in nursing, thus suggesting the need for future research to identify outcomes of mentoring. In addition, the study contributed a newly developed instrument to measure the concept of career satisfaction in nursing. 1. Introduction Mentoring is important in the career development of both novice and experienced nurses in the areas of clinical practice, nursing education, administration, and research, as it supports the novice’s need to feel satisfaction and success as a professional nurse and offers the experienced nurse an opportunity to contribute to the profession. This study explored the effect of mentoring on career satisfaction and intent to stay in the nursing profession, two critical elements in the retention of nurses in the profession. Despite an encouraging recent 5.7% increase in enrollments in baccalaureate nursing programs (American Association for Colleges of Nursing (AACN)) [1], it is anticipated that the nursing shortage will continue to be a major issue in nursing in the United States for years to come. According to the AACN [1, 2], there are several factors influencing the nursing shortage, including insufficient numbers of nursing faculty, an aging nursing workforce, increasing healthcare needs of an elderly patient population, and nursing job burnout and dissatisfaction that are driving nurses away from the profession. Failure Assessment of Layered Composites Subject to Impact Loadings: a Finite Element, Sigma-Point Kalman Filter Approach

Abstract: We present a coupled finite element, Kalman filter approach to foresee impactinduced delamination of layered composites when mechanical properties are partially unknown. Since direct numerical simulations, which require all the constitutive parameters to be assigned, cannot be run in such cases, an inverse problem is formulated to allow for modeling as well as constitutive uncertainties. Upon space discretization through finite elements and time integration through the explicit ??method, the resulting nonlinear stochastic state model, wherein nonlinearities are due to delamination growth, is attacked with sigma-point Kalman filtering. Comparison with experimental data available in the literature and concerning inter-laminar failure of layered composites subject to low-velocity impacts, shows that the proposed procedure leads to: an accurate description of the failure mode; converged estimates of inter-laminar strength and toughness in good agreement with experimental data.
Effect of Microstructure Evolution on the Overall Response of Porous-Plastic Solids

Abstract: Ductile fracture is the macroscopic result of a micromechanical process consisting in void nucleation and growth to coalescence. While growing in size, voids also evolve in shape because of the non-uniform deformation field in the surrounding material; this shape evolution is either disregarded or approximately accounted for by constitutive laws for porous-plastic solids. To assess the effect of void distortion on the overall properties of a porous-plastic material prior to any coalescence-dominated event, we here present a micromechanical study in which the void-containing material is treated as a two-phase (matrix and inclusion) composite. A cylindrical representative volume element (RVE), featuring elliptic cross-section and containing a coaxial and confocal elliptic cylindrical cavity, is considered. In case of a matrix obeying J 2 flow theory of plasticity, the overall yield domain and the evolution laws for the volume fraction and aspect ratio of the void are obtained. Under assigned strain histories, these theoretical findings are then compared to finite element unit-cell simulations, in order to assess the capability of the proposed results to track microstructure evolution. The improvements with respect to the customarily adopted Gurson’s model are also discussed.

Abstract: La lettura, pertanto, appare come un dispositivo essenziale e determinante per guardare, en profondeur, ad una formazione di sé autentica, in quanto è attraverso la lettura che si può realizzare - nell’io - un’esperienza di formazione aperta, consapevole, auto-fondata. In questo modo la lettura diviene un’avventura di ri-comprensione del sé, di auto-controllo della soggettività, di ri-progettazione della propria forma esistenziale. La lettura come formazione di sé si presenta, dunque, come una categoria non soltanto psicologica, ma anche etico-antropologico-pedagogica, poiché essa fa centro sul soggetto, interrogandolo nella sua dimensione, per così dire, 'spirituale', ma lo fa tenendo presente anche una più ampia finalità di formazione umana dell’uomo, di humanitas, appunto.

Abstract: The rise of installations, as well as immersive and interactive spaces, in both art and science museums has accustomed the public to heightened interactivity, leading to a better understanding of social, natural and scientific phenomena. These spatial systems have also paved the way for the production of innovative environments within exhibition design. This article aims to present a brief overview of the origins of immersive and sensory practices at work in contemporary museums, and to evaluate the potential of these processes to generate critical thinking in the visitor. A concise description of the evolution of the operational and intellectual premise of these museums and their changing practices demonstrates the transformations that have occurred, their modalities, and their application in selected works, notably: The Weather Project by Olafur Eliasson presented at Tate Modern London; Diller + Scofidio’s media pavilion, Blur Building, in Yverdon-les-Bains in Switzerland; and the exhibition Sense of the City at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal. La multiplication d’installations, d’espaces immersifs et interactifs dans les musées d’art et ensuite dans les musées de sciences, a accoutumé le public à interactivité augmentée favorisant la compréhension de phénomènes sociaux, naturels ou scientifiques. Ces systèmes spatiaux ont ainsi frayé la voie au développement de techniques de scénarisation environnementales. L’article vise à présenter succinctement les origines des pratiques immersives et sensorielles à l’ uvre dans l’espace muséal contemporain et à présenter le potentiel de ces processus à engendrer une réflexion, un raisonnement critique chez le visiteur. Une courte description de l’évolution des postures opérationnelles et intellectuelles du musée et de ces pratiques permettra d’en retracer la transformation, les modalités et l’application dans des uvres, notamment l’installation The Weather Project par Olafur Eliasson présentée au Tate Modern à Londres, le pavillon médiatique de Diller + Scofidio Blur Building à Yverdon-les-Bains en Suisse et l’exposition Sensations urbaines présentée au Centre Canadien d’Architecture à Montréal.
Textos e conceitos fundadores de Michel Pêcheux: uma retomada em Althusser e Lacan

Abstract: Objetiva-se descrever o percurso teórico de Michel Pêcheux com rela o ao conceito de sujeito. Para tanto, faz-se um retorno a textos fundadores do marxismo e da psicanálise que foram parte da conceitua o proposta por Pêcheux. O ponto de partida é justamente a retomada de quest es apontadas por Pêcheux a respeito do pensamento teórico que se elaborava em meados da década de 60 sobre novas práticas de leitura. Fa o, assim, um retorno a textos fundadores de Althusser e de Lacan inscritos, de modo explícito ou n o,em formula es da Análise do Discurso. Assim, retoma-se, por exemplo, a leitura sintomal, prática de leitura proposta por Althusser a partir de seu retorno a Freud. A leitura sintomal distancia-se da leitura literal, que sup e uma espécie de inocência de um leitor desprovido de ideologia e apto a encontrar o conteúdo do texto, e também de uma leitura hermenêutica, que supostamente encontraria nas entrelinhas o sentido oculto do texto. Essas reflex es e outras se encaminham na dire o de se pensar o lugar e os efeitos da Análise do Discurso hoje.

Abstract: Nella presente nota, studiamo (paragr. 1 e 2), quale completamento della teoria della fotoionizzazione in atmosfera non isoterma, considerata in altra nota (M che qui indicheremo con la sigla M, l'effetto della curvatura terrestre sulla intensità di ionizzazione (e quindi sulla densità elettronica) nei due casi in cui il gradiente verticale di temperatura sia costante in tutto l'intervallo di quote considerato (caso questo studiato da Gledhill e Szendrei (2 ) solo in condizioni stazionarie e trascurando l'effetto della curvatura terrestre) e in quello in cui il gradiente ha un valore costante e positivo con la quota fino a una quota c e valore zero per quote superiori.
