Influence of the zirconium and titanium oxides on bioactivity of materials constituted by Na2O-CaO-P2O5-SiO2 Estudo da bioatividade de materiais constituídos por Na2O-CaO-P2O5-SiO2: Influência da adi o dos óxidos de zirc nio e de titanio

Abstract: In this work were synthesized by conventional fusion, biomaterials based on Na2O-CaO-P2O5-SiO2 with titanium oxide and zirconium oxide at different concentrations. The bioglasses, when submitted to the heat treatment in the crystallization temperatures, obtained by Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) showed an internal reorganization indicated by the presence of different crystalline phases observed in X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples. These crystalline phases, rich in calcium phosphates and calcium silicates, are probably the actives sites useful to the ion exchange process between solid and solution to apatite and hydroxyapatite formation, being responsible by bioactive behavior. Biocompatibility tests for the synthesized materials were made by placing the samples in contact with a solution simulating the blood plasma (SBP). There was a variation of the initial pH of this solution to the more basic pH (from 8.5 to 12.0), indicating the interaction between the solid and the SBP solution. This effect was more pronounced to materials with TiO2 that can be understood as a greater bioactivity and compatibility on these materials. Para este trabalho foram sintetizados, pelo método de fus o convencional, biomateriais baseados em Na2O-CaO-P2O5-SiO2 com óxido de titanio e óxido de zirc nio em diferentes concentra es. Os biovidros quando submetidos ao tratamento térmico nas respectivas temperaturas de cristaliza o, obtidas por Análise Térmica Diferencial (DTA), mostraram uma reorganiza o interna evidenciada pela presen a de fases cristalinas distintas, observadas nos difratogramas de raio-X das amostras. Estas fases cristalinas, ricas em fosfatos de cálcio e silicatos de cálcio, servem de sítios ativos para o processo de troca i nica entre o sólido e a solu o, propiciando a forma o de apatita e de hidroxiapatita, responsáveis pelo comportamento bioativo. Testes de biocompatibilidade dos materiais sintetizados foram feitos colocando-se as amostras em contato com uma solu o que simula o plasma sanguíneo (SPS). Observou-se um deslocamento do pH inicial desta solu o para pHs mais básicos (de 8,5 a 12,0) o que indica intera o entre o sólido e a solu o SPS. Este efeito foi mais intenso para materiais com TiO2 atribuindo-se a eles, maior bioatividade e compatibilidade.

The dependence of hardness and of the chemical resistance with BaO addition was investigated. The experimental results indicate that the hardness increases with the BaO content. The chemical durability of the materials with BaO showed better than the glass ceramic without this content. An Algorithm for Finding Minimum d-Separating Sets in Belief Networks

Abstract: The criterion commonly used in directed acyclic graphs (dags) for testing graphical independence is the well-known d-separation criterion. It allows us to build graphical representations of dependency models (usually probabilistic dependency models) in the form of belief networks, which make easy interpretation and management of independence relationships possible, without reference to numerical parameters (conditional probabilities). In this paper, we study the following combinatorial problem: finding the minimum d-separating set for two nodes in a dag. This set would represent the minimum information (in the sense of minimum number of variables) necessary to prevent these two nodes from influencing each other. The solution to this basic problem and some of its extensions can be useful in several ways, as we shall see later. Our solution is based on a two-step process: first, we reduce the original problem to the simpler one of finding a minimum separating set in an undirected graph, and second, we develop an algorithm for solving it.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to analyse the centesimal composition as well as zinc, copper and iron contents of the five species from raw and cooked shellfishes: shrimp (penaeus brasiliensis), crab (ucides cordatus), lobster (panulirus argus), oyster (crassostrea rhizophorae) and mussel (anomalocardia brasiliana). the edible samples were collected in the fish market of the natal city. shellfishes were considered an expressive source of the proteins and minerals, while quantities of lipids and calories were low. after the cooking process protein and ash concentration increased in most of shellfishes. zinc analysis showed variable concentration in the species. oyster was the food with the highest zinc values. mussel was considered the best source of iron and copper but around 50% of the copper detected was lost after decoction. this behavior was not observed in crab samples. these results can contribute to food composition table and evaluation of the brazilian diets.

Abstract: objective: to identify the perceptions and practices of teachers from an undergraduate nursing course with respect to the teaching of nutrition, as a subsidy to pedagogical proposals. methods: the survey was carried out in a private university in the state of sao paulo with the participation of thirteen teachers, employing qualitative methodology by means of a questionnaire in the first stage. in the second stage, the focus group technique was employed with the participation of five teachers. results: the teaching of nutrition in the undergraduate courses of the nursing teachers did not contemplate the demands of professional practice. they consider there has been a decline in the quality of nutritional care in recent years and have difficulty with respect to such care both in the hospital and in the public health area. they also have difficulty with teamwork. conclusion: the group discussion created a propitious atmosphere for discussing the problem of the professional practice of nursing as related to nutritional care, propitiating self-criticism concerning their partnership with other health professionals. the teaching of nutrition should contemplate topics such as care/caring and interdisciplinarity so as to better prepare the student for practice.

Abstract: Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a composi o centesimal e os teores de zinco, cobre e ferro de cinco tipos de mariscos crus e cozidos: Camar o (Penaeus brasiliensis), Caranguejo (Ucides cordatus), Lagosta (Panulirus argus), Ostra (Crassostrea rhizophorae) e Mexilh o (Anomalocardia brasiliana), crus e cozidos, provenientes da cidade de Natal/RN. As amostras da parte comestível de cada alimento foram adquiridas em peixaria do cais do porto. Os mariscos foram considerados fontes expressivas de proteínas e minerais, enquanto as quantidades de lipídeos e calorias foram baixas. Observou-se na maioria das amostras teores de proteínas e de cinzas aumentados após a coc o. A concentra o de zinco foi variada, apresentando-se a ostra como a maior fonte dentre as espécies estudadas. Os maiores teores de ferro e cobre foram verificados no mexilh o e na ostra. A coc o provocou perdas de 50% de cobre no mexilh o e praticamente n o alterou as concentra es do referido nutriente no caranguejo. Esperamos que estes resultados contribuam para bancos de dados que auxiliar o na melhor estimativa de consumo de nutrientes em inquéritos dietéticos.

Abstract: RESUMO: Sementes de nove cultivares de feij o-comum (Phaseolus vulgaris, L.) (‘Rio Piquiri’, ‘Rio Tibaji’, ‘Paraná-1’, ‘Catu’, ‘Aysó’, ‘Carioca-80’, ‘Aeté-3’, ‘Moruna-80’ e ‘Aroana-80’), duas de feij o-adzuki (Phaseolus angularis (Willd) (Wright) (‘Adzuki 1’ – vermelha e ‘Adzuki 2’ – verde) e cinco de caupi (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp). (‘Epace-1’, ‘Epace-6’, ‘Epace-8’, ‘V-76’ ‘V-245’) foram obtidas de 3 épocas de plantio (“águas I” – 26/11/82; “seca” – 07/04/83; “águas II” – 27/09/83 e avaliadas quanto à composi o química e características de hidrata o e cozimento. As características foram significativamente influenciadas pela época de semeadura. Os feij es produzidos na época “águas II” apresentaram valores protéicos significativamente mais elevados do que os das outras duas, e o teor médio foi de 20,75; 16,45 e 23,10 g/100g para o feij o-comum, o adzuki e o caupi, respectivamente. O conteúdo de óleo de feij o comum (1,38 g/100g) correlacionou-se negativamente com o de proteína (-0,64). O de cinzas apresentou o mesmo comportamento que o de proteína quanto às épocas de cultivo, o que n o aconteceu com o de carboidratos. As maiores sementes foram produzidas pela época “águas II” e pelo feijoeiro-comum (20,38 g/100 sementes) com destaque para os cvs, Moruna-80, Paraná-1, e Carioca-80. Para o caupi este valor foi de 19,48g e para o adzuki, de 7,79g. Os gr os cultivados nas épocas “águas I” e “águas II” apresentaram melhor hidrata o (RH = 1,94), e estes os maiores conteúdos de gr os “hardshell”, com destaque para os cvs. Carioca-80 (7,4%), Adzuki-1 (14,2%), Aysó (19,5%), Epace- (19,5%) e V-245 (31,0%). O tempo de cozimento foi maior para os gr os produzidos na época “águas I” e, dentre os cultivares, os de Vigna foram os que apresentaram os menores tempos, nas três épocas (13,17 minutos), quando comparados com os de feij o-comum (25,47 minutos) e de feij o-adzuki (104,10 minutos).
