Solitary excitations in one-dimensional ferromagnetic spin chains with biquadratic exchange interaction

Abstract: By using the traveling wave method, the solutions of the elliptic function wave and the solitary wave are obtained in a ferromagnetic spin chain with a biquadratic exchange interaction, a single ion anisotropic interaction and an anisotropic nearest neighbour interaction. The effects of the biquadratic exchange interaction and the single ion anisotropic interaction on the properties (width, peak and stability) of the soliton are investigated. It is also found that the effects vary with the strengths of these interactions.

Abstract: In the title complex, C22H18N6O2S, two of the pyrazole rings are disordered over two sets of sites with ratios of refined occupancies of 0.58 (2):0.42 (2) and 0.517 (12):0.483 (12). The dioxane ring is in a half-chair conformation and the two –CH2– groups of this ring are disordered over two sets of sites, the ratio of refined occupancies being 0.855 (19):0.145 (19). The essentially planar thiophene ring [largest deviation = 0.0444 (2) ] forms a dihedral angle of 19.59 (3)° with the benzene ring.

Abstract: The title compound, C16H14N6O, was prepared by the condensation of 4-(trifluoromethyl)phenol and sodium pyrazol-1-ide in a yield of 58%. The dihedral angles formed by the planes of the pyrazole rings are 50.7 (2), 71.2 (3) and 95.8 (2)°. The molecules are associated into dimers by pairs of intermolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds involving the hydroxy groups and pyrazole N atoms. In addition, π–π stacking between the phenol rings of these inversion-related dimers is observed, with a ring centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.9247 (10) .

Abstract: With a comparative analysis on the monopoly and non-monopoly system of Chinese Salt Monopoly, the author believes a competitive margin can be earned through improving the management of owner and perfecting its value chain within an open market. The paper proposes an innovation model in order to give some constructive suggestions regarding the next reform of the Chinese salt industry. Simultaneously, the author references the use of the Balanced Scorecard and the DEA evaluation mechanism. By doing so, it enables us to pinpoint the issues on reforming the system. α-fetoprotein involvement during glucocorticoid-induced precocious maturation in rat colon

Abstract: AIM: To investigate the role of α-fetoprotein (AFP), a cancer-associated fetal glycoprotein, in glucocorticoid-induced precocious maturation in rat colon. METHODS: Colons from suckling Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this study. Corticosterone acetate at a dose of 100 μg/g body weight was given to normal pups on days 7, 9 and 11 after birth to induce hypercorticoidism. Control animals were injected with identical volumes of normal saline. Some rats receiving corticosterone 7 d after birth were also treated with mifepristone (RU38486), a glucocorticoid cytoplasm receptor antagonist to investigate the effects of glucocorticoids (GCs). The morphological changes of the crypt depth and villous height of the villous zone in colon were observed as indices of colon maturation. Expression levels of AFP in colons were detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting. To identify the cellular localization of AFP in developing rat colons, double-immunofluorescent staining was performed using antibodies to specific mesenchymal cell marker and AFP. RESULTS: Corticosterone increased the crypt depth and villous height in the colon of 8- and 10-d-old rats with hypercorticoidism compared with that in the control animals (120% in 8-d-old rats and 118% in 10-d-old rats in villous height, P = 0.021; 145% in 8-d-old rats and 124% in 10-d-old rats in crypt depth, P = 0.017). These increases were accompanied by an increase of AFP expression in both mRNA and protein (2.5-folds in 8-d-old and 2.5-folds in 10-d-old rats higher than in control animals, P = 0.035; 1.8-folds in 8-d-old and 1.3-folds in 10-d-old rats higher than in control animals, P = 0.023). Increased crypt depth and villous height and increased expression of AFP in the colon of rats with hypercorticoidism were blocked by mifepristone. Both had positive staining for AFP or vimentin, and overlapped in mesenchymal cells at each tested colon. CONCLUSION: GCs promote the development of rat colon. AFP appears to be involved, in part, in mediating the effects of GCs in the developmental colon.

Abstract:

Considering units starting and network constraints and the concept of optimization period,a optimization model which is a typical multi-constraint knapsack problem is established to solve the selection optimization problem of units starting in power system restoration period in this paper, and the objective of the model is to maximize the total power generation capability. A relative effectiveness assessment based on a improving data envelopment analysis is adopted to select the initial units to be started, genetic algorithms are employed to solve the knapsack problem to determine the most reasonable units be started at the current time. Finally, IEEE-39 bus system simulation result proves that the proposed model is feasible and effective.

  

Lymphotoxin Alpha (LTA) Polymorphism Is Associated with Prognosis of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in a Chinese Population

Abstract: Background Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) has been widely reported to be associated with autoimmune and pro-inflammatory response, and genetic polymorphisms of candidate genes involved in autoimmune and pro-inflammatory response may influence the survival and prognosis of NHL patients. To evaluate the role of such genetic variations in prognosis of NHL, we conducted this study in a Chinese population. Methods We used the TaqMan assay to genotype six single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (TNF rs1799964T>C, LTA rs1800683G>A, IL-10 rs1800872T>G, LEP rs2167270G>A, LEPR rs1327118C>G, TNFAIP8 rs1045241C>T) for 215 NHL cases. Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed to compare progression free survival among two common genotypes. Cox proportional hazard models were used to identify independent risk factors. Results We observed that LTA rs1800683G>A was significantly associated with risk of progression or relapse in NHL patients (HR = 1.63, 95%CI = 1.06–2.51; P = 0.028), particularly in Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) cases (HR = 1.50, 95%CI = 1.10–2.04, P = 0.01). Both univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that in DLBCL patients, Ann Arbor stage III/IV, elevated LDH level before treatment and LTA rs1800683 AA genotype carrier were independent risk factors for progression or relapse. While in NK/T cell lymphoma, Ann Arbor stage III/IV and elevated β2-MG level before treatment indicated poorer prognosis. Conclusions The polymorphism of LTA rs1800683G>A contributes to NHL prognosis in a Chinese population. Further large-scale and well-designed studies are needed to confirm these results.

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H18O8, contains two molecules with small geometric differences. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings are 62.94 (12) and 59.99 (12)°. The dihedral angles between the carboxylate groups in the 2- and 3-positions are 81.72 (13) and 65.54 (15)°, respectively. However, the dihedral angles between the carboxylate groups in the 3′ and 4′-positions are 67.24 (15) and 59.98 (17)°, respectively.
Imaging findings and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of hepatic malignancy with right atrial embolus in 46 patients

Abstract: AIM: To analyze the imaging findings of hepatic malignancy with right atrial (RA) embolus.METHODS: Forty-six patients with an embolus in the RA were diagnosed, including 44 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), 1 patient with cholangiocellular carcinoma and 1 patient with hepatic carcinoma metastasis. The diagnosis was confirmed by clinical examination, serum α-fetoprotein and imaging. Seventeen patients underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE).RESULTS: On enhancement computer tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, a nodular filling defect in the RA could be easily found, with a slight enhancement in the arterial phase. The coronal images of CT or MR showed the extent of lesion. Lipiodol entered the embolus after TACE, hence reducing the speed of embolus growth. There was a survival benefit for patients receiving anticancer treatment.CONCLUSION: Patients with HCC, showing a filling defect of the inferior vena cava (IVC), hepatic vein (HV) and RA on images, can be diagnosed with RA embolus. Encroachment of the RA is very rare in patients with hepatic malignancies. Furthermore, a prolongation of survival time is found in those patients who underwent TACE.
Data Matrix Code Location Based on Finder Pattern Detection and Bar Code Border Fitting

Abstract: The 2-D bar code possesses large capacity of data, strong ability for error correction, and high safety, which boosts the 2-D bar code recognition technology being widely used and developed fast. This paper presents a novel algorithm for locating data matrix code based on finder pattern detection and bar code border fitting. The proposed method mainly involves three stages. It first extracts candidate regions that may contain a data matrix code by morphological processing and then locates the data matrix code roughly by detecting “L” finder pattern and the dashed border on the candidate regions. Finally, the lines fitted with the border points are used as the borders of data matrix code. A number of data matrix code images with complexity background are selected for evaluations. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm exhibits better performance under complex background and other undesirable conditions.
