Real Business Cycles: Data from China

Abstract: Real business cycle (RBC) is an important concept fortheoretical economic research. And it works well in U.Ssituation. In this paper, we use data from China in theclassic RBC model. Firstly we restate this model in detail.Then we apply this model by using data from China, andset specific parameters appropriate for China. From theresult, we find investment more volatile in China than inthe U.S, and investment is more relative to GDP growth,which is consistent with the fact we know about economicgrowth in China. Association of β-fibrinogen gene 148C/T and 455G/A polymorphisms and coronary artery disease in Chinese population: A Meta analysis

Abstract: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the correlation between the β-fibrinogen gene 148C/T and 455G/A polymorphisms and susceptibility to coronary artery disease in the Chinese population using a meta-analytic approach. Eligible studies about this correlation were identified by searching the PubMed, EMBASE, and CNKI databases. Of the 13 identified, 7 (with 1488 cases and 1234 controls) involved the 148C/T polymorphism and 9 (with 1023 cases and 1081 controls) involved the 455G/A polymorphism. No publication bias was detectable and heterogeneity testing found significant differences between the ORs for both groups of studies. The combined OR for the 7 studies on susceptibility to coronary artery disease in 148T allele carriers compared to the 148C/C wild-type homozygotes was 1.31 (95%CI: 0.94–1.84, P=0.11). The combined OR for the 9 studies on susceptibility to coronary artery disease in 455A allele carriers compared to the 455G/G wild-type homozygotes was 1.75 (95%CI: 1.24–2.46, P=0.001). Our results suggest the absence of an association between the β-fibrinogen gene 148C/T polymorphism and susceptibility to coronary artery disease and the possibility that 455G/A polymorphism (in particular, allele A) increases susceptibility to this disease in the Chinese population.

Abstract: The current consumption method of Electric Power Industry is “electricity consumption first, paying for it later”. The trend of consumption method is Pre-order Electricity. If we adopt the Pre-order Electricity System, we need to replace Traditional Energy Meter with Prepayment Energy Meter. But this alteration is costly. And the alarm action of Prepayment Energy Meter are bells and alarm lamp, users can not receive alarm information timely. In this paper, we present the design of Multi-user Electric Power Management Device. The device uses TMS320F2812 as CPU, with peripheral devices such as mobile phone communication module MC55, so the device supports remote operation and sends alarm information via SMS, it also can communicate with the master station by GPRS. The device can be seamlessly integrated into the existing power system in order to read meter, achieve billing and Pre-order Electricity functions. In addition, the device has the Harmonic Measurement function, so it is a high cost-effective application.
A novel peptide, selected from phage display library of random peptides, can efficiently target into human breast cancer cell

Abstract: To develop a targeting vector for breast cancer biotherapy, MDA-MB-231 cell, a human breast cancer cell line, was co-cultured with pC89 (9 aa) phage display library of random peptides. In multiple independent peptide-presenting phage screening trials, subtilisin was used as a protease to inactivate extra-cellular phages. The internalized phages were collected by cell lysising and amplified in E. coli XLI-Blue. Through five rounds of selection, the peptide-presenting phages which could be internalized in MDA-MB-231 cells were isolated. A comparison was made between internalization capacities of peptide-presenting phages isolated from MDA-MB-231 cells and RGD-integrin binding phage by coculturing them with other human tumor cell lines and normal cells. The nucleotide sequences of isolated peptide-presenting phages were then determined by DNA sequencing. To uncover whether phage coat protein or amino acid order was required for the character of the peptide to MDA-MB-231 cells, three peptides were synthesized. They are CASPSGALRSC, ASPSGALRS and CGVIFDHSVPC (the shifted sequence of CASPSGALRSC), and after coculturing them with different cell lines, their targeting capacities to MDA-MB-231 cells were detected. These data suggested that the internalization process was highly selective, and capable of capturing a specific peptide from parent peptide variants. Moreover, the targeting internalization event of peptides was an amino acid sequence dependent manner. The results demonstrated the feasibility of using phage display library of random peptides to develop new targeting system for intracellular delivery of macromolecules, and the peptide we obtained might be modified as a targeting vector for breast cancer gene therapy.
Linear Piezoelectric Stepping Motor with Broad Operating Frequency

Abstract: The existing resonant linear piezoelectric motors must operate with high working voltage in resonant condition, resulting in their narrow operating frequency range and poor running stability. Here, with the large displacement output characteristics of piezoelectric stacks, the trajectory at the drive foot of stator is firstly produced with two space quadrature piezoelectric actuators excited by sawtooth wave and square wave. Secondly, the friction drive principle of motor is used to analyze the working mechanisms of the continuous stepping motion. Finally, the motor prototype is designed and experiments are carried out. The experimental result shows that the motor can stably operate within the scope of 350 Hz to 750 Hz. When the excitation voltage is 30 V and pre-load is 3 N or 10 N, the lateral amplitude of the drive foot is approximately 4 μm and the stable average interval ranges from 3.1 μm to 3.2 μm with the error rate of 5%-7.5%.
Stick-Slip Tower-Shaped Piezoelectric Actuator

Abstract: Since stick-slip actuators present the advantage of allowing long displacements (several centimeters or even more) at a high speed with an ultra high resolution (<5 nm), a new type of stick-slip piezoelectric actuator is proposed to attain sub-nanometer positioning accuracy. The actuator is composed of a slider and a tower-shaped stator using forced bending vibration in y-z plane to generate tangential vibration on the top of the driving foot. When excited by the sawtooth input voltage, driving foot of the stator is able to generate a tangential asymmetrical vibration on the top, and the slider is thus pushed to move. A prototype and its testing equipment are fabricated and described. Following that, the testing of vibration mode and mechanical characteristics as well as stepping characteristics are conducted. Experimental results show that under the condition that the sawtooth input voltage is 400 VP-P and the pre-pressure is 6 N. Velocity of the actuator reaches its maximum 1.2 mm/s at the frequency of 8 000 Hz and drops to its minimum 35 nm/s at the frequency of 1 Hz. When the excitation signal is the single-phase sawtooth stepping signal, the tower-shaped actuator can directionally move forward or backward step by step. And when excited by the sawtooth stepping signal with 1 Hz and 300 VP-P during 1 cycle (200 ms), the actuator has a minimum stepping distance of 22 nm.
